I take issue with Eric Leeds said about Prince

He did an interview with the Pittsburgh Post Gazette and I don't like what he said about Prince. He said (parahrase) Prince wasn't meant to grow old.

That's hurtful and cruel.
I don't argue with people about my opinions. Scram. I said what I said.

Like telling a women she needs to have a boob job, has no charisma, can not be successful without Prince?

I remember once reading in a Marilyn Monroe bio that someone said, "she would never live to see old bones" --- I thought of that as I heard this about Prince....

I understand what he was saying, on several levels.
I think that one of the reasons "we" have such shock at his passing away as he seemed to be a being from another planet, not a mortal human, never aging. He looked great for his age. Also, there was a recent study showing that the average age of death for male entertainers is 57. The "life" (one way or another) is not so conducive to maximizing customary life expectancy. He put a lot of living into his limited time on Earth.

This is from Alexander O'Neil: "My first reaction was, 'What?' I was devastated. It floored me. But when it sunk in, I wished him a good journey. His work must have been done at age 57. It was his time," O'Neal told The Clarion-Ledger this week.

Totally. I thought he explained it pretty well, too. Prince is now frozen as he was for all of us. He will be the Prince we all see in our minds forever, because he never stopped being and looking like that Prince. Eric was saying that's how it was meant to be. He didn't mean it to be hurtful at all.

Also... I didn't read the rest of this thread, so apologies if this was already said. lol

I know what he meant but there's always a danger when people try to sound more profound than they are capable of being. He might feel weird if someone tried to wax poetic regarding his longevity.

I would think that you'd confine that type of thought to private conversations with your own family. Let's hope he doesn't say such a thing to the bereaved family. It's bad enough he said this in public at all.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Why are some folk tripping over what Leeds said? Prince said it himself.

You know, ponder this for a second. When people grieve over previous personal relationships, people can say fanciful things like that. To jump on Leeds to say "This is hurtful n cruel" I think that is baseless for someone who is just responding in the moment. He didn't really say anything offensive, it was a compliment and FYI, I bet Prince would've appreciated the sentiment

I didn't see anything inappropriate in the comment, or any other comments Eric has made in interviews. He always keeps the level of discussion focused on music and how he truly enjoyed the opportunity working with Prince. I read his comment to mean that Prince will be eternally youthful in our minds and hearts.

There was nothing hurtful or cruel about his comments unless you're looking for it to be... I suggest reading that interview again without malice this time.

Prince never wanted to be old. I mean I'm not sure if that's a number on a paper or just a way of life, but he seemed concerned being youthful.

He commented on something with 3EG as being "for old people". You know, like he's not.
No matter the ©️, Paisley Park "official can never ™️ prince. He gave that to us verbally on Oprah in 1996. You can't take prince away from us, corporate. I mean O ( + >
