New Japanese The Time/Morris Day remasters

Warner Japan will be releasing all four The Time Albums as well as the two Morris Day Warner Bros. solo albums in July or August at a bargain price. They will be bare-bones releases, no bonus tracks or expanded booklets

According to the Warner Music Japan website, they will be 2015 remasters (most likely just cranked up volume-wise, but never too compressed).

Here's a link to one of them:

Please please please let there be more Prince-related issues in the next batch! (Sheila E!!!)

well now, look at that.

Warner 80's Soul Classics Best Collection 1000 Series

It looks like a Warner version of the Universal top 1000 JB & Funk release? There were a few rare cameo releases in this release:

I'm going to skip these since I'm satisfied with the sound of the domestic releases I own but for those who are purchasing, I hope they are truly remastered. I've purchased some Universal Music Japan reissues over the years that weren't really remastered and didn't sound any better than the American versions. Hopefully, Warner Brothers won't be as lazy.

And really, how hard could it have been for them to tack on "Grace" as a bonus track for "What Time Is It"? I've seen Japan reissues with bonus tracks before. mad

Warner Japan have been reissuing a lot of titles in the past few years, all of them remastered (well the ones that I bought were anyway). With Universal, you never know, though on most current releases the back of the obi does state the year of the remaster. Their website sometimes does too, but it's still a gamble.

Hard to pass up at a fiver each, plus those sexy bonus points from CDJ - but with no extra tracks it's not inticing enough over my existing CDs. Hmph.

While Prince would never have offered any additional vault material, b-sides and single versions could have been added indeed.

But honestly I don't care, my old copies of the albums and single vynil rips sound good enough 4 me as they are lol

What happened to Guaranteed? It's on Reprise/Warners.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I received "The Time" today. All the others plus the Morris Day cd's will arrive at the end of the month. The artwork is the same as the original cd, but it includes an additional bio in Japanese as well as the lyrics. The sound is louder than the original cd but doesn't sound too compressed. I am very pleased with my purchase smile

Now if this series does well, hopefully the Sheila E, Family, Jill Jones, Madhouse, Vanity 6 and Apollonia 6 albums will be next!!!

You are waaaay more hopeful than I am. From what I've seen of the recent and upcoming Warner Brothers Japan reissues, all of them are titles that are already readily available domestically. No first-time on CD or long out of prin, hard to findt titles. mad

WB does not own the masters to those three, so no they won't.

"Color of Success" is still in print and you can get a used copy of "Pandemonium" on amazon for under $1.
