lol It's a good thing that she's too young to remember when her "boss" gave us proteges that went onstage dressed like this....

sure..but u want more of this kinda stuff??

Someones buying it, and when we were young WE DID TOO. ugh, so what if it exists, it's temporary, and disposible.

hannah's criticism is a not so passive aggressive 'bless her heart' style slap aimed at other women.

here she blames random women, for what random men may think or say...AS IF IT WILL STOP MEN FROM WRITING DEROGATORY THINGS ABOUT THEM... “If women are getting sick and tired of men talking about them in their music like they’re a piece of meat, they can’t then walk around treating their body like it’s a piece of meat.” (there's craptons of shamey shamey here, because you know, it's all eve's fault isnt it?)

earth to hannah men will look at you as if you're a peice of meat no matter how many clothes you have on, or how ladylike you are. and they'll write nasty dirty songs about you and there's literally nothing you can do about it.

it's this kind of backward thinking that dis-empowers women because doing a job onstage doesnt mean you're a whore. it doesn't mean you deserve less respect and it doesn't mean you're a piece of meat. it means as women we can do whatever the hell we want to.

i agree there is alot of crap music ...but really SO WHAT, there always has been. i also know cream rises to the top and stays there with nary a care from crap settling to the bottom.

of course hannah has a right to her opinion, and if she's going to offer it - we have a right to think its backward, because it is.

Personally, I DONT CARE if crap exists. It's existed for.ever. I dont have to entertain it! I dont buy Nikki Minaj or Miley Cyrus, Iggy Azealia et al... ...I vote with my dollars. I'll take Janelle, Lianne, over Nikki anyday but I'm not going to hate on other women out there getting theirs either....There's room for everyone. Rt now popular culture and my tastes aren't aligned....and thats fine.

However, this whole throwing shade with the caveat about 'inspiring' and 'spreading light' is some not so passive-agressive BS. Thats not spreading light, or being inspiring, it's slut-shaming, it's catty and it should be beneath someone who should have a million other music related things to talk about as Princes drummer.

Donna, on the other hand does nothing but talk about her guitar, ...THATS inspiring, and thats how you inspire, by talking about your CRAFT and mastery of it. Another woman who's inspiring...Drummer Cindy Blackman-Santana...all she talks about is her music. The bottom line is if you want to be inspiring, being a drummer no one can ignore because your so badass with your instrument is the way to do it.

While I don't disagree with the gist of her comments, there are a couple of things that bother me about her comments:
1. her language sometimes implies that women are to blame/ are the source of their own objectification.
2. Sometimes, Prince compliments, encourages, and privileges people in his circle so much, that they seem to really believe they are stars in their own right and are THAT awesome and important. Hannah seems to have fallen victim to this. Just the fact that this "interview" exists, and that she feels to need to comment about other artists, probably artists infinitely more famous and successful than she is, and that she feels she can speak for Prince, is off-putting. Also, her use of the phrase "I'm all for..." and "I'm all about..." makes her sound self-important, like a beauty pageant contestant.
The only thing she needs is for Prince to wear her face on a shirt, and her head would explode from all the swelling.

Hannah didn't say nothing, but what her sponser wanted her to say. You think, if she wanted to, she could go onstage nipsliping and swearing and whatnot? Prince put on her on. She's his puppet. Just like all the rest of what you see and hear from other recording artists, is nothing more than what their sponser's told them to say. The people that put them on and control their strings.

Honestly, with Prince, I think all this finger-waggin' at the rest of the industry is just a ploy to get everybody else to zip their shit up, so he can get back to flashing his. biggrin

I agree.Hannah is Prince's latest puppet, along with the other two girls. She will go around, doing interviews, saying things that make Prince happy.I remember in 1983,Vanity was doing the same thing...only she was saying stuff like "I hate to wear clothes....I like being naked" lol you know....the kinda stuff that reflected his worldview back then.

I hear what peeps are saying regarding Prince's past performances. He used sex to the hilt. But Hannah's got a point. Today's performers soar beyond sexy. Some are downright dirty and unnecessarily so. Lady Gaga will do anything to grab the spotlight, resorting to tactics which hide her talent. Same with Miley's and Beiber's antics. If artists truly have talent, why destroy the show with stupid vulgarity?

Did everyone see the nice, classy photo shoot she did? It is cool,
especially the part when she is laying on a couch with her drums.
The video is on YouTube. Can someone please post that video? Thanks!
