Jill Jones on Facebook

I gather that Jill Jones made her opinion clear about Prince on Facebook recently. But what did she actually say. Anyone knows?

The wooh is on the one!

i wish i screenshot it. i read it and scrolled the 150+ comments. she's a looney toon and the people commenting are just as crazy. She's still bitter over something from 20 years ago. i would really love to know what exactly went on. She was talking about how he isn't responsible for her career but is for the lack thereof. she came at his makeup and said if it wasn't for wendy and lisa or her he wouldn't be who he is. complete bullshit.

When is the last time Prince mentioned Jill Jones?

Nuff said.

Why is that people who don't know Prince can attack him on a daily basis on here but someone who actually knows him(except Wendy & Lisa) can't say a negative word about him on their own FB page without getting jumped on? Jill is cool in my book. Considering her page is friended by obvious Prince fans who tag her on ridiculous photos and other crap I think she keeps the Prince references to a minimum.

What is she bitter about? I know that Prince wouldn't release her from her recording contract,so for seven years she couldn't make a new recording elsewhere.

I don't know if it has happened in other occasions, but I stepped on this thred, very similar situation as the current one right?

I agree she sounds bitter, she may have her reasons. I never think about my exes/old "flames", but that's only because I usually was the one acting bad lol so I can't really understand how it feels...

I doubt they are still "on his dick". It's more likely they think of him as "a little dick" and they can talk about him on their facebook or twitter pages if they so choose to.

^ This.

Maybe if the majority of people who added women like Jill weren't constantly doing shit like tagging her in pics of Prince, or constantly bringing up Prince when they talk to her, or otherwise making it obvious that the only reason they friended her was because of Prince, maybe she would not mention him quite as much. Just a thought.

It was a childish, bitter rant, full of lame insults and said more about her than it did Prince. I felt it was totally uncalled for.

I also question the whole "locked in a contract for seven years" thing. For one thing, it's a contract that she signed in the first place. Secondly, Paisley Park Records only existed for 8 years (from 1985 to 1993), and in that time frame, she recorded and released an album in 1987 which was promoted with a music video, and recorded a subsequent album in 1989, for which another music video was filmed (Boom Boom). Sure, that second album didn't come out but it's not like he signed her and left her to fend for herself.

If you read any biography of any record label - be it Motown, be it Def Jam, be it Death Row - you'll read stories of artists whose careers didn't pan out the way they wanted, and some of them got treated a whole lot worse than Jill. Many never got to release a single, let alone an album.

Yes, it sucks that Jill's album perhaps didn't get the attention it deserved, but that is life, and that is business, and it certainly got a lot more than many other artists on Paisley Park. Mazarati's album is pure genius from start to finish and barely got any promotion either. Tony LeMans album was phenomenal and most people aren't aware it exists.

And the claim about Prince not being able to do anything without Wendy and Lisa is laughable. I guess she forgot that For You, Prince, Dirty Mind, Controversy, and 1999 were made by Prince alone with very little input by anyone else.

The problem with Jill is that her debut album was released too late.I've said repeatedly that her album should have been released in late 1984 or early 1985,so that she could have taken advantage of the Purple Rain hype. She had a small role in that movie.People knew who she was.Imagine if she had released a kickass song like "Sugar Walls" as her debut single in late '84.Her career would have really taken off.Instead, her album was released in 1987 and featured a handful of Purple Rain-era outtakes, which didn't stand a chance on pop radio in '87.A huge missed opportunity.

Jill was never a priority to Prince. From what I read she acted a bit thirsty and even intitate the call to Prince so he can give her a job and that was singing on 1999. And guys can spot and take advantage of thirsty chicks in a second. I wished she picked up the signs when he really didn't focus on her album right away yet focus on his side acts which some came to the picture after Jill, etc. Jill seemed like a smart woman and maybe she knew the signs that Prince didn't give a damn about her nor her career but she ignore them perhaps being too starstruck or hope he would change and give her album a more of a priority. I stated on here before it would have been nice if she would use some of her Motown connections due to sang back up for Teena Marie, Rick James, and her mother's marriage to Berry Gordy's bro instead of "waiting around for Prince". Like someone said on here to Prince in the past, she was just a thirsty jumpoff and Prince indeed took advantage of it. I am sad that she continues to rant about Prince on Facebook. I like Jill and she is talent but girl should consider to seek therapy or find ways to heal because she seem like a damaged soul as I read some of her posts. I sincerely hope her reality show get pick up and use this opportunity to revamp her career and move on!

That's the question nobody here will answer. Jill Jones didn't track any of them down and send them friend requests.

I think they 'Friend' and 'Follow' these people because they're hardcore, obsessed Prince fanatics and as soon as the former Prince associates, who have worked with Prince and know him far better than any of his fans ever will, say anything about Prince, they come post on this site to tell how tired they are of the former associates talking about Prince but they're the ones who requested to be their friend and follow these people. disbelief

It's unfortunate what happened to her and she has every right to be vocal about it, especially on her own page. I do however wonder what she's been doing since that incident and why her career has not gone anywhere after that. I tried to listen to her new music and its god awful..sorry. She does seem happy, so i wish her well but its something that she continues to be angry about decade after decade. I hope she finds peace with it one day.

You friend them and follow them so when they say something about Prince that you don't agree with, you can bitch about it, duh!

That said, I DO have some as FB friends, and I follow a couple on twitter. And when they do mention something Prince-realated, I see it as what it is: A peek into the life of someone who's worked with him and knows him waaaaaaaaaaaay better than any of us ever will. Some things they say will corroborate what I've seen or heard elsewhere, other things will contradict. Some things they say will sound like they're a bitter ex (either romatically or professionally), other things will sound like they are talking about an old friend.

I think she probably feels like...she contributed so much to Prince and his other proteges (singing backup on their records, singing backup behind a curtain for Vanity 6 on the '1999' tour, etc) but didn't get the chance to really have a great career of her own. When her solo debut album was finally released in 1987,it was dead on arrival (commercially speaking). That's got to be very frustrating, especially the years when she sat on the sidelines and watched Prince make stars out of Sheila E.,Apollonia and the others.I just don't think that Jill was ever a priority for Prince. He always seemed more interested in the others, even though some of them weren't as talented as Jill.

The thing is tho, most of these former Prince associates have not had jack shit to do with Prince in over 20 years. So, they KNEW Prince. They don't know him now.

I have had former Prince associates try to friend me by the way. I have no freakin' idea why. lol
