The Sudden Public Dissapearance of Bria Valente

I hate Elixer. I absolutely hate it with a passion.

Don't get me wrong: I actually think Brian has a pleasant voice. Certainly better than Vanity or Carmen Electra. But, the album itself just sounds so ready-for-the-elevator that listening to it makes me want to stab somebody in the face.

That being said, Elixer was bundled in a 3-album set that debuted at #2 on billboard, and received a tremendous amount of buzz for an Indie artist (Prince), and Bria was part of that overall experience.

Yet, here we are several years later (4 years now?), and :

1. No acting gigs.

2. No followup attempts

3. No public appreances

4. No public facebook pages (that can be confirmed to be hers)

5. No youtube appearances

Essentially, she fell off the radar. Let's face it, whatever we thought of her talent, she was a hot piece of snatch to many folks--this guarantees a certain amount of publicity just by virtue of the 'beauty' factor.

Carmen, Vanity, Appalonia--all made appearnces on television shows or movies.

What's up with Bria?

I read that Prince took Bria under his wing, purely as a favour to a friend, with no intention of actually forging a long career for her!!

But, its true, when you consider what Mayte, for example, is doing now, albeit a trashy reality show on VH1, and she also has a very successful bellydance teaching business with DVDs and clothing line as well as her public awareness for stray animals, there no comparison!!

You don't think she enjoyed her experience with Prince, so has passed on the entire thing?? I thought at least she would do stage productions etc around MLPS, just so she could use her voice.

OH COME ON!! Do you expect me to plow through the whole internet trying to find a small paragraph somewhere, that specifically stated that Prince only took Bria on as a favour for a friend?? For all I know , it may have been a posting in a forum or something by someone close to the Prince camp or local to Minneapolis, which probably has long since disappeared!! But I know that I distinctly remember reading it somewhere!!

Come on...you didn't really expect Bria to become a big superstar, did you? lol You know how it works with Prince proteges these days: One album then they fade away.

Andy Allo is still around and visible, e.g. she did the Billboard pre-party gig and SXSW, Guitar centre appearance, Jimmy Kimmel? and has an FB page where she interacts regularly with her fans.

Bria on the other hand came from nowhere and vanished without a trace. She did an interview on Tavis Smiley where she told the story of how Morris Hayes introduced her to Prince. The odd thing was that Prince was interviewed on the same show but separately and he said he didn't remember how he met her, lol. Should be still on youtube. (God knows why I remember silly trivia like this)

I doubt it. It didn't look like she was enjoying her experience with Prince but I remember her sister telling me she hasn't seen Bria more in love (with Prince). Brenda was supposedly studying and I think she became a Jehovah Witness. She could be too busy knocking on doors doing JW field service to help Prince with his latest stage production, etc. It's always possible she will suddenly appear out of nowhere like once before since imago is asking. lol

If we stick to the facts I'm aware of:

1/ Before meeting Prince, Bria Valenta wasn't a public person: no Facebook, Myspace, etc. The only element showing she may have wanted to be a professional musician is an old demo (supposedly from the 90's IIRC) that was posted on a FB profile (hers or a fanpage IDK) in 2011 or around that time.

2/ During her time with Prince Bria Valente did everything to avoid becoming a public person: no Facebook, Myspace, etc., no shows or live performances, no TV appearance or any other public appearance whatsoever except for that innerview with Tavis Smiley. She was made public by Prince as early as 2006 and from that time to the end of the Lotusflow3r promotion 3 years later she never had a single online presence, she just kept silent.

3/ After her time with Prince Bria Valente did nothing to remain a public person: no Facebook, Myspace, etc, no new music or any other kind of public appearance whatsoever, nothing to indicate that she'd be trying to pursue a career as a professional musician except for that one song that popped-up on Facebook once again in 2011 (In Your Bed) and sounded kind of an Elixer outtake even though Prince doesn't seem to have anything to do with it.

Conclusion: Bria Valente never wanted to, and still doesn't want to be a professional musician or a public person! As said by others above, even off the Prince radar most other protégés kept having at least an internet presence, posting new material or trying to do live shows or to get a record deal or whatever or, in the case of Mayte, Carmen Electra or eventually Taja Sevelle using their fame to promote other (non-musical) activities. Look at Tamar, she kept being online all the time after since her Prince album was cancelled! Bria never did such a thing, and there is no reason why she wouldn't have done it if she had wanted to, so the only possible explanation, it seems, is that she's perfectly satisfied with an anonymous existence, doing whatever non-music thing she may b doing now.

I'd love to read a Dye Got The Answers To Your Questions interview of her, though wink

"A fan" should be used very loosely in this situation because of the aliases set to confuse people... and really all the rest of the internet mess was because Bria was posting in third person along with her sisters on the org and abroad the internet. I forget who had this inside information I think her user name was SalaciousV. But this is old old news and I was never impressed with anything Prince did during this era or with that protege. Andy was a step up. She is young but definitely holds more quality.

Look at who posted this!! Bria was a project he produced and he moved on to the next project. It happens all the time and at no time did he say this chick was his girlfriend.

1/ Look at who posted what??

2/ We are not discussing Prince moving on but Bria disappearing. People don't disappear every time Prince "moves on", usually they even tend to be all over the internet.

3/ I never said they were an item either so where does that come from???

Imago started this topic. Not you.

We are discussing for 1 million time one of P 's protegees that did not amount to anything and he appears to have no connection with. Well he does not have to. It was a one off project that he produced and many orgers do think he was going with her despite that never conducted themselves as a couple in public.

I'm not gonna lie, I love "Another Boy." The rest of the album is awful, but "Here Eye Come" has its okay moments.

Bria's wikipedia page still says she "has been Prince's girlfriend since 2007."

I'm not gonna lie, I love "Another Boy." The rest of the album is awful, but "Here Eye Come" has its okay moments.

Bria's wikipedia page still says she "has been Prince's girlfriend since 2007."

Also says she sang back up vocals for Usher before Elixer, so the interest was there at some point.

Prince has said she was a dear friend, according to the Ebony interview he did when he was promoting Lotusflower she was introduced as his "girlfriend", Sunny Pepper lol reported "Bria Valente, Jehovah Witness brings singer Prince 'peace'", and Brenda's sister told me she never seen two people more in love (than her sister and Prince). Why are you rolling your eyes?

What I'd like 2 know is what happend next: did she leave Prince, did Prince leave her, what incidence did it have on her career if any? U seem 2 know the whole story so please share (no irony intended, I believe u do) wink

The recent "interview" with Jon Bream says P's girlfriend has long soft curls and is TALL... It is true and very odd how Bria has simply disappeared... Makes me think perhaps she's the girlfriend?

Never mind - I remembered Jon Bream also said the GF is Californian, and Bria is from MN.

She made a few appearances with Prince and I think she made her last public appearance on stage at one of his Welcome 2 America shows. I'd rather her and Prince tell you exactly what happened but I doubt this will ever happen. Hopefully Bria will talk about it all one day. I couldn't find the short interview she did with FOX news. I guess Prince had it taken down but when Elixer and the Lotusflower/MPLS set were released she said in this interview how surprised she was Prince was including her cd with his release. If you watch the Tavis Smiley interview she tells how music and making something from nothing really makes her happy. Tavis told his viewers, "Well..if you're going to launch a project, Bria know how to put it out there... Her name, Bria Valente just learn it and get use to saying it cause you're going to hear it for years to come...Bria Valente is the name, the CD is called Elixer part of Prince's new 3 CD set at lotusflower.com. Bria, nice to have you on. First time, I hope it's not the last." Bria then replied, "I hope not too." I think like the rest of us, she's watching Prince try to make something out of nothing as him and his people do damage control. I think she will soon appear. Wait for her.

nuts

Isnt it obvious who Sassey is at this point? Here is what we know about Sass.

-She is a she
-She is very angry with Prince
-She thinks Prince has done her wrong
-She is an ex associate
-Shes come here to demand an apology (er, of what we dont know)
-She wants Prince to read all of her posts
-She is close with Bria's sister
-She hates other female associates... Except for Bria
-She over explains topics regarding Bria
-She lives in Minnesota, I am taking a wild guess here and am going to say its Chanhassen? lol

Poor soul.

Prince has never seemed happier since he has moved on from this protege. Coming here to get attention and to try and make Prince bring her back into the fold never works. Prince is too smart for that.

This is kind of the way I see it.

She's had every opportunity in the past few years to appear in the spotlight.

Even Mayte, whose star has quickly faded participated in a show.

And, Prince's most boring female partner ever, Manuella

has become a star-fucker extraordinaire, making public

appearances, and still looking mousy as ever with her

new husband.

So, Bria's dissapearance seems to be indicative of her

not having that much interest in being in public...at

least at this time.

After learning Salma Hayek, her daughter Valentina, Penelope Cruz, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Christina Milian weren't the only women on his mind while recording Lotusflower/MPLS, Bria could have lost all interest in her singing career and decided to stay out of the limelight and just be a dear friend, a good side chick, a wifey, and/or a good witness for Jehovah. I'm sure one day you all will know the true story. I want Prince to tell it. I don't think Bria can talk because she most likely signed a confidentiality agreement. I didn't.
