lol, these threads about this thing on here are always good for a giggle - some people say the dumbest fucking things, what can you do but laugh.

She seems down to Earth and civil, you can't say that about all musicians *cough, cough*

i love sinead's story, i think it's true! i hope it's true, the idea of them having a ding dong is too funny, him chasing her round cars & her trying to hide from 'the fucker'

she's nuts but way too cool to glorify the event. at this stage in her life she wouldn't have a problem admitting if it was bollocks & she made it all up, plus she looks bored telling the story.,

Over the years I think I have heard about 10 incidents or so alledging Prince swung on a woman. I personally believe them all since pretty much everything else in Purple Rain turned out to be basically true to his actual personality.

I doubt she's lying. I think he's the one lying. He could have been high on mushrooms or MDMA and doesn't remember. Back then Sinead was fearless. She didn't like being around misogynistic men. In 1990 Prince admitted to Neal Karlen that he was an angry soul. His movie Graffiti Bridge was released shortly before or after Sinead met him at his LA home. GB didn't do well so I doubt he was happy around this time. It's interesting Karlen mentions how some could take certain things Prince says as the classic pathology of a control freak. Prince couldn't control Sinead so it's likely he did the next best thing for his ego and made her afraid of him. She admitted in her Rolling Stone interview that he frightened her. She said, "I don't see why he had to threaten me with physical violence and use the fact that he is a man and be quite amused at the fact I was frightened." Seems like Prince lost his cool that day because Sinead was too cool and rebellious for him. When she told him to fuck off he got angrier and nervous. Everyone is capable of losing their cool. Prince said in the interview with Neal Karlen. "All you have to ask yourself is 'Is there anybody I'm afraid of? Is there anybody who if I walked into a room and saw, I'd get nervous?' If not, then you're cool." http://princetext.tripod....one90.html

^^ Yeah,Prince has always had problems with bold, strong, independent women. It's an ego thing. He likes to be in complete control and if a woman defies him,he gets an attitude. It's easy to see why he wouldn't get along with someone like Sinead O' Connor. And like you said, this alleged incident happened in December 1990....a month after Graffiti Bridge bombed in theatres.Prince was probably in a very bitter mood, around that time.I think he should have been thrilled with meeting Sinead O'Connor...her remake of his song was his biggest "hit" in 1990 and he certainly made a fortune off it.What was there to be so upset about?

He gets more than an attitude. I would say he loses it. Prince and some of his people need to realize if people won't do whatever it is Prince wants them to do, it doesn't mean they can harass or he can attack them in any kind of way, not in person, in his songs, or over the internet. Prince has hurt plenty of people with his strange, dysfuctional behavior. He's getting old and needs to know it wasn't ok to use his celebrity to take advantage of people. He probably thinks he can get away with it because he's Prince and "everybody loves him" or because he's become a Jehovah's Witness but I think he should apologize or at least admit to doing all the mean things him and his Yes people have done to people like C.J., Sinead, Susannah, Paul, Wendy & Lisa, Mayte, Jill Jones, Jellybean, Jesse Johnson, Kirk Douglas and myself to name a few.

WTF are you babbling about. My goodness with some of your posts you come off as one of his tossed to the side girlfriends. We have no proof that this incident occurred. No police report was filed and we have no witnesses beyond Sinead who has a documented history of mental health issues. In addtion, I remember Sinead recanting the whole story and now she is telling the story again as if it did happen.

I enjoyed the entire interview, she seems very normal, down to earth, it's nice to listen to her.

That whole beating story sounds funny but doesn't make any sense though... 2 grown ass people running around, spitting and beating... nuts

That's why it's hilarious.

Sinead O'Connor seems to have a talent for pissing people off, (obviously Prince shouldn't have tried to beat her ass, that's just crazy). In the documentary for the making of the Berlin Wall concert Roger Waters said she did nothing but be a pain in the ass the entire time, and Frank Sinatra said he would kick her ass if she was a guy. Why the hell would Sinatra be saying that about anyone? I thought he was meant to be a friendly old statesman.

I think something did happen, as to what exactly - no idea.

My mates and I recall stories of nights we were out together and all our stories vary slightly and to the point that one will not remember any of it (yes, too much alcohol).

I would describe my ex partner as a drama queen.

If something happened she would percieve it as a big deal and I would see it as a "nothing" event.

How each of the 2 parties remember and percieve the incident will differ - thats just the way it is.

It would be easy to dismiss this story as some crazy,made-up tale by a loony female pop artist, but the thing is,we all know how Prince can be lol Let's just say,he's the type of person who frequently has "issues" with people. We all know the stories.

Truth is often stranger than fiction. I guess this is why some fans want people to believe 'stories' like this about their hero Prince aren't true.

Unless you start telling us what your beef is with P you do come off as having undocumented health issues. Making allegations that someone was physically abusive without proof is wrong. If someone abused you please file a police report and have the evidence to back up what you are saying.

If not you put yourself in a position to look crazy without the proof. In addtion, I am not saying this could not have happened. Dude is a person and is capable of being a fuck up like anyone else but I would like to see someone get the goods on him with some proof instead telling stories with nothing to back it up. Putting your hands on someone is serious.

so let's get this straight....

Prince tells her he doesn't like her using foul language

and then he tells her he is "going to beat the shit out of her"?

seems fishy to me

but it makes a funny story

kinda like Kevin Smith's story - probably a little true but slightly exaggerated lol

There have been a lot of stories over the years from various women who claim Prince got pissed at them and then became violent. Sinead's story is the most remembered because she was a star, but some of the proteges have said similar things over the years. I'm not one to believe domestic violence accusastions without proof, but since everything else in Purple Rain was basicaly true, I bet this is too.
