Andy Allo

What are your thoughts on Andy Allo? I remember her playing as Tee Tee's girfriend on the hit show " The Game" on B.E.T. I do love her song ' When Stars Collide' . Now that base line is funky! wink

Some like her, some don't. Some like her music, some don't.

My own thoughts are in the first category - like. I've downloaded both her albums, I think she has a nice voice, can obviously strum a bit, I bear her no ill-will. She seems quite savvy, chilled out and good-natured. Her music is pleasant enough to my ears.

I admit I never would have heard of her or paid much attention if not for the association with Prince, I saw her live with the NPG at Hop Farm in the UK the other year, and she was a hit with the crowd I thought. She sang beautifully and did not detract from Prince as the main draw.

Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

Checked the album from head to toe.
It's nice no real clunkers on it.
A softer prince album. Still I think he should have kept at least half the material for his own releases. He could have silenced his malicious critics for a while with these songs.

As for the lady herself, she's sweet n bland, not at all irritating.
Prince was generous here.

I have listened to some of the clips on YouTube, and I like what I hear! Especially When Stars Collide is very solid, but there are more good songs. If Prince had released this album under his own name it have definately shut me up for a while! wink

Is the album available as mp3 only? I would buy wav, flac or cd only..

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

Andy's strength may lie in her support vocals for artists. She is pleasant,

and her style is absolutely fabulous. I feel she has influenced Prince in a

fantastic way, and am grateful he left behind old influences (Larry Graham,

Graham Central Station, and others) to evolve to his current style.

i think she's a lovely courageous heart. i tend to compare myself to prince's proteges and usually i end up feeling lacking, but her radiance overcomes any issues of her being younger, prettier, smarter than me smile. i feel like i can relate to her somehow on some deep level. i plan to buy her record, was hoping for a cd but may have to go the electron route, but i've been listening to songs she posts and am impressed with her talents. her adventurousness and faith are inspiring

I think Andy is treated unfairly harsh here around Prince.org. She has a lovely voice that perfectly fits most (if not all) of the songs, and her album is miles better than any protegee album since the 90's. Plus I think she has a good influence on Prince. I don't really understand all the hate/disdain for her.

If anything I think she suffers from "Protegee-backlash". After Prince's last two protegees have gone back to nothingness astoundingly quick after their album (never) got released, I feel some fans are somewhat embarassed with the whole protegee thing. They just tend to tank, which seems to happen to Superconductor as well, as Andy and Prince seemingly couldn't get a proper distribution deal for her album. So people just want Prince to focus on quality new Prince material now, and not waste his time on protegees/girlfriends. Especially as many people feel Prince's own albums have been lackluster for a long time.

But, if you forget about the Prince connection and just listen to Superconductor for what it is, I think it is an entertaining, well produced album with a rich sound, and good to great songs. No real clunkers to be found. You can definately hear that time and effort have been put into this album. It would be nice if she got some more recognition for that.

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...
