They probably didn't get much sleep last nite and doing all these breakfast/early morning shows isn't helping much 4 their daily rest lol

That band! eek faint Incredible but I didn't feel like Andy's presence matched the bands charisma. There was one point where she even turned her back to the audience for a long time. It seemed the band was the star and not Andy.Prince really went ALL out with this protege.

Oh come on guys, with this and the WGN performance Andy's making vast improvements with both her stage presence and her vocal delivery: better than the You & Me This Morning performance and, as she says, there's always room for improvement.

I respect the fact that she is getting out there and doing the work (unlike Bria ever did). And, unlike Tamar, she's actually doing it without Prince being by her side.

I resepect her efforts and will reserve judgement on Superconductor til I've actully heard it (don't even get me started on the lack of strategy direction with this release at the moment)

playing late night shows, up all night at the afterjam/party and then up early again

for tv appearances and rehearsals/soundchecks in the afternoon.

plus, in the intervals, logging on to facebook and deleting all those bothersome not

so positive posts from disappointed people.

biggrin

that's not to mention possibly even 'fluffing prince's pillows' as well razz

she already looked a bit tired and 'not completely there' in the listening party pics.

but who am i to talk. 3 of those late nights like that in a row and not all the coffee

in the world would be able to pick me back up and get me out of bed lol

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I agree this was a better performance than u & me. I really want 2 listen 2 her album before I make my mind up about People Pleaser because songs sound different when sung live & I still haven't heard Superconductor yet. Gahhhh why can't she release her album yet?!!!
pray Peace in the House of Prince.

I agree, she needs her own band, a group of people that can 'reflect' her

If they come off 'more skilled' than she and she's the frontman, it can show easily

She looks really good with that guitar, but she played it just at the beginning

I give her props for doing it, unlike Bria (total waste of time) Maybe Prince is trying to bring it to hard via Superconductor. I think that band is overwhelming. I did like it and she tried, she's new to this but maybe her sound should match more of her personality. Maybe she is more like a 'the Family' style than 'the Time'

I gotta say, as my first opinion on seeing Andy Allo perform live is this:

For someone relatively new to the market she definitely has a huge band supporting her which just looks strange. Horns, drums, all the guitars you name it!. It’s obvious that Prince has given her full reign of his resources (and $).

I could listen to that band play all night but what irked me was hearing her sing. I’m not trying to be a jealous Prince fan here or anything – but seriously her voice just doesn’t go with the style of music (funk). It’s more of an easy listening genre. I can imagine hearing her sing while shopping in Earth Born or at a spa retreat (i’m seriously trying to not sound mean here because i actually really enjoyed Unfresh!!!!!!). So i guess what i’m trying to say is that the big band kind of drowns out Andy - as in they’re just not suited.

Another strange thing about Andy Allo is that you know when you hear singers talk to the interviewer their voice sounds the same as their singing voice. Well...Andy’s voice just changes completely. She actually has a cute speaking voice but when she sings it kind of sounds put on.

'Cause that's exactly what it is. Everything about Allo is phony.

Ouch!

I think they were all just tired. They were really trying to push themselves to the limit.

I wasn't feeling it either, I will have to hear her again when she is well rested.

I think she should stick with her own style.

I hope Prince is not trying to turn her into the

next Sheila E.

I think the band should be a little smaller

I like how Erykah's band is simple and it made her stand

out instead..or was it that big O' wig?

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the band, they really have Prince's

funky style. I just felt like I was

watching Sade perform with Earth Wind and Fire, or maybe it was just the

song. I didn't feel or see the connection between her and

the band, but at this point I feel like

she is really trying so hard to 'fake the funk' to please Prince.

I guess if I was surrounded around

that much talent I will do everything to absorb and imitate

as much as I can before the dream is over and before Prince get's bored

and moves on to his next Project. Andy, do your thing-Just remember

on this journey, stay true to yourself and everything else will fall into place.

My views will probably change once I see her perform again with the band.

This was my first time watching her and I give her sound/song/performance

3/5 stars. I am not impressed to go buy her CD. I still have'nt listen

to Bria's CD... ---It was DOA. I'll listen to it one day.

I'm sorry but this post is HILARIOUS! The thought of Sade performing with EWF had me on the floor laughing. However, you are right. It's funny because one of Andy's Pre-Prince influences was Erykah Badu. She should paid close attention to Erykah and how she crafts her own image instead of letting someone else (read Prince) craft it for her. These opportunities that Prince is giving Andy I think would have produced more fruitful results had he just complimented HER style with his musical abilities, instead of trying to create a funk diva, which by the way, no one is all that big into funk these days so WTF will this track be played/appreciated outside of the Prince realm? Hell, many within the Prince realm don't care for it...

Really have you taken a poll to know that the vast amount of Prince fans are not funk fans.

I honestly wonder if some of you so-called fans even understand that funk is the main element in P's music.

Yes, funk is a main element in Prince's music. However, funk is not a main element in most mainstream or even indie music nowadays. Hence, the senseless attempt to market a 23-year-old new artist as a funk queen. I think that is the poster's point. If Prince is trying to market Andy outside his fanbase, he needs to let her do her own thing instead of making her a Prince funk clone. Funk artists aren't burning up the charts anywhere now. No one needs to take a poll to see that. I think you misinterpreted the post. No one said that Prince's fans weren't into funk.

Although, judging by the reactions of some to Monday's Chicago concert, I might have to rethink my assessment, as it was clear that some of the negative posters couldn't get with the funk that he was serving. They seemed to want rock guitar Prince.
