So, Andre Cymone was so inspired by America electing Barack Obama president that he wrote and recorded a song about it 3 1/2 years later??? If this is him excited about recording music again, it's no wonder he hasn't released anything in forever.




I know the first time around, I didn't think Obama stood a chance in hell of being elected considering there are so many racists. I voted for him but didn't really expect him to win. So yeah, now that we know it's possible that he can win, it is very inspiring and we need to do all we can to make sure the RepubliKlans don't get back in.

I forget the story about how it changed from Anderson to Cymone. Even if Andre came up with it, I would not put it past Purple Guy to have copyrights to it.

It is a variation of his middle name simon.

Musician Andre Cymone, best known for his top 10 '80s hit "The Dance Electric," serving as bass player in Prince's early years, producing his then-wife Jody Watley's "Looking for a New Love" and "Real Love" and projects with artists from Tom Jones to Adam Ant, is back in the studio creating music and sharing his American dream.

After 25 years, the Minneapolis native returns with a new track titled "America," and all proceeds from the song are being donated to the Obama 2012 campaign. During a recent conversation with Cymone, he emphasized the need for us all to implement the talents we have for the causes we believe in, "Get creative with it." I asked Andre what ignited his return to songwriting and immediately the passion for his purpose was unmistakable -- this place in history and his children.

Being a self-proclaimed "news junkie," Cymone explains that his family has always been very politically involved and it was a natural progression to step into the political ring, musically speaking, during such an imperative time in history. Cymone, intense with sincerity, expressed, "President Obama being reelected, it just has to happen. The future of our country is on the line, we can't go back now."

His "My American Dreams" project gives you a chance to share your American dream. The project has caught the attention of both President Obama and Al Sharpton.

Andre Cymone's video premier "America" is the artist's contribution to President Barack Obama's campaign. Using his art as activism Cymone orchestrated his dedication to America with powerful notes of inspiration motivating listeners to remember their individual American dreams as we collectively rebuild moving forward -- not back.
