Vanity 6 on the 1999 tour

I'm wondering if any posters here had seen Vanity 6 live on the 1999 tour? Unfortunately I'm not old enough to have seen this tour with Prince, The Time and these ladies, but I have seen parts online. I also read Vanity 6 got mixed reviews for their performances-some thought they were campy, sexy and fun while others thought they were a mess with the vocals and a joke overall. From the bootleg clips I've seen online, I would say sometimes they were OK lol

I thought they had cute choreography and actually a lot of the female pop/r&b acts that came after them took some of their provocative moves.

I have seen clips of all their songs live except for 3X2=6. Did they ever perform this live on any leg of the 1999 tour? If so I'd love to know how it went.

Also, for any orgers who went to the 1999 tour, can you tell us which city you went to and your impression of Vanity 6 live? thanks

It being their 1st venture out, seemed they did good,

I think if they had more of a backdrop it would have helped like a "Sign o the Times backdrop" and visible band, at least for a whole set. the band behind the curtain was cool for like a 1 time show, which I think they did well when I saw them perform Nasty Girls on certain tv shows

On 15th March 1983, Prince returns in triumph to Minneapolis for a concert at 13,500-seat Met Center in Bloomington. A post-show bash was held at the Registry Hotel in Bloomington. At 2:00 am, some members of [Prince]'s band, Vanity 6 and THE TIME played a short jam session with Prince on the drums and Sue Ann Carwell singing.

Did Prince put basically a purple backdrop with a giant fishnet stocking behind Vanity 6? lol That's what it looks like.

Yes, I was there! I think it was March 1983 here in San Diego? I remember that the crowd really responded to their set. I was in awe! I was only 14 or 15 and had never witnessed a girl group perform and be so naughty!

If it breaks when it bends, U better not put it in!

I think the only reason they had the curtain is because The Time were behind it playing the music and they want to differentiate between the two acts/sets.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Yeah I read it didn't start out that way, Prince put it up the curtain a little later as one of his puppet master control games on the Time

Vanity had what it took, Apollonia just was too 'conservative' lol Vanity controlled that frontman position, and Brenda & Susan feed off it well. All 3 I think did a really good job presenting those 3 sexy styles and in different ways mirrored Prince

I've seen those clips and I thought they looked good but Vanity couldn't really sing. I've seen still pics and boy were Vanity and Brenda smoking hot. Susan looked like a child.

I'd like to hear from orgers who saw those concerts too.

I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!
RIP Dick Clark, Whitney Houston, Don Cornelius, Heavy D, and Donna Summer. rose
