Everything is open to discussion. I mean, hell there have been whole threads devoted to Prince's dick size. lol

Speaking of... I don't understand why certain members say his women fans are jealous of any woman seen with Prince. It seems Prince dates young women he can easily control and he produces songs for them because he doesn't have the best equipment for the bedroom so relies on being Prince the musician because he thinks he can make any woman jealous that she's not getting what his latest flavor of the month is getting in the studio. Prince also makes it clear every time he executive produces acts like Bria Valente and Andy Allo that the only thing he really has to offer a woman is his music and persona.

Yes, that's very sad but could be true. confused

Prince I will always miss and love U.

I don't it. It was rumored that Troy Breyer and Vanity miscarriaged his baby too.

Once again, too many exes saying or experiencing the same thing. This is why when folks on her write about him not having an heirs, I just shake my head.

Where are the facts to all this info:

I've never once heard of Mani ever being pregnant with Prince's child

I never saw an except of this so called interview with Troy Beyer admitting she had a miscarriage. I remember the rumor about Prince getting her pregnant, but it came and went and was never mentioned again.

As for Vanity, now that's one I have been curious about for a long time. I wondered if she was ever pregnant with his child, but I was thinking more she may have had an abortion because he wanted her to or she had one because he may have acted like he didn't want the baby and that's one of the reasons she quit Purple Rain and Prince altogether. He was planning Purple Rain and that's the only baby he was concerned about along with Sussanah Melvoin. Plus Vanity was out of control herself with drugs. I guess the truth will come out when Prince is dead. You know how it goes.

[Edited 7/14/12 16:52pm]

The Troy Beyer story came from interviews she did and she did say she lost his baby.

Damn! Mama Nelly was not holding back. She stomped her foot and was like he was soo controlling and said be nice. Mayte said she's forgiven him though. I would not want to be his wife...makes me feel for Mayte and Mani. I bet Mama Nelly regrets sending P the tapes of Mayte.

And she sure!

As a mother, I know that I would have NEVER put my daughter in that situation. Prince reputation, rumored or otherwise, is legendary. She clearly wasn't thinking of Mayte's best interest. Mayte had gotten enough exposure on her own to where she didn't need Prince to perform. Did she say that she was selected to join a dance troupe in Cairo?

That, and she was also selected as a classical dancer in Europe with a German ballet company.

I remember at Glam Slam they used to play tapes from the NPG Dance Company she founded and directed before she married Prince: It was straight up "modern technique" with real dancers. It seemed a darned shame there was not proper funding and promotion for that project, because it could have been a wonderful platform for Garcia and traditional dance arts. It was also a buzzkill watching her after that onstage with Prince shake dancing and flipping her hair around, when the young woman clearly had a much deeper well-spring of talent than that. Despite having an exciting life on the road and eventually marrying the man, just like other women who leave their careers and artistic development in Prince's hands, things always stall and fizzle out when you're working under his creative parasol. You get a one-off project, a bit of press, then your protege career is never to be heard from again. She faired a bit better than most because she directed some tours and videos for him, but still....not only is his Lothario reputation legendary, but his track record for taking people under his wing also sucks.

This poses an interesting question though; despite the joy and gift of having a music legend in your life for 10 years, has one fared better, worse, or neither career wise from having that experience with them? hmmm

Good Question biggrin

I wonder if that will come up on the show. It's worth asking all of them.

The other highlite part of your post is also a very good point. And, in a way, you've answered your own question. Mayte did fare bit better career wise, but I don't think that emotional toll was worth it.

I watched this for the first time yesterday and boy never again!! I even admit when I was in college some of these "dumb" reality shows on VH1 have been my guilty pleasure but this show is soooo boring. Ugh. These ladies talk about things that happened what, more than a decade ago with now washed-up actors and musicians? Well when I say washed up of course I don't mean Prince or Will Smith...GTFO!!

But I admit Mayte looks great for her age!!

But part of me thinks with pursing acting, with the roles she's gotten thus far, they likely had little to do with her past music association, so I'm not sure I believe the success she's had in that arena is due to her association with her husband....except by way of past contacts...that might open doors for people to listen to what you have to offer for a minute, but for really getting your foot in the door and taking a long-term seat? Hmmm hmmm

As for the others, hmmm let's see:

Andrea: she seems like her life was so inextricably tied to her husband's in Chicago. It's hard to tell whether she would have become the dancer/studio director that she did had she not been with Kelly. When she was with him, it was like not being with him, without him, in Chicago she still can't escape his influence. Man, that seems like hers is the most bummer example of all the women: just this situation where because you're married to someone with such tremendous power and influence, and you still live in the same city as them, and their "phantom" follows you around everywhere? That's Suck Town to the nth degree.

Jessica: her business is so far away from anything having to do with sports, it seems like she would be fine whether Jose was part of her life or not.

Sheree: her beauty cream line has been going strong for maybe 3 years? I think as far back as 2009 she's been featured in magazines. I actually find it odd given no one knew who she was before, and she was making it just fine building a reputation for herself attached to no one, but now she's on television after being married for some years talking about Will. Seems a bit disrespectful to her current union. Forget about the theme of watching women move on and rebuild, she's already done that, with a husband to show for it lol so she's starting to fit in less and less with the premise of the show for me.

Nicole: I think she would have been okay as she was a pretty successful model before she met her husband (catalog models make a lot of dough). Also, at some point, they do have to retire, so I have a feeling she would've found something else to branch off into even if she wasn't a Hollywood power player's wife. I see her as a model agent or working in a PR office for a major designer, and being married to some European fashion photographer or advertising head had she not met Eddie She just wouldn't have been as filthy rich as she was being married to someone who gets paid gazillions of dollars per movie lol

I agree with a lot that you wrote.

Andrea story is the worst, because when someone brings up Kelly being married...it's Aaliyah's name that is mentioned. That arrangement was f'd from the start. A secret wife?

Also, I feel that Sheree being on the show and being in a whole other city isn't good for her marriage.

Did Mayte say where the clothes came from, were they left in the house in Spain and she just packed them up when she sold the house, or she randomly went through his wardrobe picking stuff out that she knew he liked??

Wonder if Mayte's mum had to be careful with what she said too, not give too much away?

Even though the scene with Prince's clothing was hilarious (and I totally would've done what Nicole Murphy did) Mayte has got to be kidding, right?

She's held on to his clothing for over a decade for what? She says she wants to "donate them" and also says she's over him and moved on. If you'd moved on you wouldn't be holding onto your exes clothing for 12 years unless you intended to make money off them. What other reason, besides personal attachment, would you have for holding on to those things?

It's all a bit creepy. The china the clothing; it's too much. I think I'd be a liitle icked if I were Prince.

Felt for her on the awful hoodie date though.

If you've ever been married and divorced then you know it's easy for your stuff to get intermixed when you're moving between houses and separating . The difference with Mayte is, as she said, her husband is a rock star, and she's not getting rid of it. I'm not particularly sentimental, so from a colder point of view, I see the rationale even though it is a bit morbid.

As for Mayte's mom; I'm sure so much more was said, but you have to remember that for every 3-5 minutes you see of a discussion on a reality show, they've actually been taping already for an hour or more, then it's whittled down. Still, I like her mom's Latina feistyness lol

Just saw latest episode.
Not only does she have the symbol imprinted china and his clothes, there's a shirt or sweatshirt hanging on the door behind shots of Andrea with the words "Get Wild" down the sleeve!
I think Sheree is right about Mayte possibly holding on to things for emotional reasons. Might not be "love," it might just be that she cannot let go of a past that she considers her "glory days" - like how I find it hard to let go of my college years.
And despite her mom's disdain for him, the mom seems to relish in the attention and "specialness" that the Prince association brings - she was right there with the women enjoying the giddiness of the ladies sniffing his clothes. I have (ex-)in-laws whom I despise because I think they did my family wrong, and best believe I would burn their clothes, I couldn't even stand to be in the same room with their clothes, let alone stand by amused that other people idolize them!
Alas, it was all kind of weird and melancholy. But funny too.

Do I see her mom as being pissed for whatever went down between them, yes. The rest of that sounds like a stretch at best to me.

Besides, how is her story any different from any of the other cast member under the theme of being a divorcee, & taking a new stab at life after a certain age?

When I watched this last episode I see nothing more than a reality version of 40+ Chick Lit and relationship self-help books come to life. The disasterous blind date, the looking for guys at the farmer's market: this stuff is straight out of the playbook of "Middle-Aged Divorcee 101". The only one who feels terribly out of place to me in this venue is First Lady Sheree Fletcher, who is remarried to Pastor Terrell Fletcher and always willing delve into her past with and about her ex-husband. I think she is doing her current husband and his ministry a great disservice, and isn't excatly being the best representaive of what it means to have a Godly marriage essentially "foresaking all others" by her actions on the show. But anyway, that's her headache, not mine. In the meantime I'm just enjoying the estrogen fest. coffee

But if that were really the case why bring up donating them? It's as if she's trying to make herself look decent by suggesting she isn't trying to make money off it. Her mum on the other hand was honest and out and out said she wanted to donate it right into her pocket.

Okay, so now that I've seen episode 5 from start to finish, I noticed some things:

Nicole: Who knew her oldest child is 22???? omfg good LORD, that woman has held up well. She's still photographing beautifully also.

Sheree: I thought her stories about being in China and seeing Will on televison were out of place. You are not single and looking, with only your first husband as a reference like the other women. You are a married woman. Go home and be a wife to your husband and show a modicum of interest in his ministry and something outside of glamourous life in LA. You were also too pushy at the Farmer's Market and did nothing but embarrass yourself and the friend you were so aggressively trying to help. Not attractive.

Andrea: Um, did she just cop Laurie Ann Gibson's haircut (BOOM! KAT!!!)? Lord h'ammercy lol

Beyond that, DAMN that heffa work a Fosse Technique whofarted ! It was also nice to see Mayte there to support her class. That's a good girlfriend for ya, and I wish her success with her master classes, she's the real deal. The Farmer's Market; couldn't y'all have not picked the most obvious place listed in every divorcee dating book on how to meet men? falloff First the winery, now the farmer's market- I suppose next is the home improvement store, an Asian cooking class, and the single serving section in the frozen food isle at Whole Foods. It was funny to watch, and I'm just glad that I'm not out there trying to do this lol Now Drea just needs cop a man already so she can brush away the cobwebs, because until then, to paraphrase on of my favorite youtube reviewers, somebody is going to have to sit her hot ass on a block of ice. lol

Jessica: She also is amazingly fit. Great body. It was refreshing to see her a bit tamer this episode. Shame she's still sprung on her husband. Jose appears to be what we call "a Runaway Man". That's not going to be good for their daughter, though. Pity.

Mayte: Oh my damn, that date! lol The first blind date is always a disaster...and showing up in that hoodie confused Hello grown-man-who- I'll-assume-is-somewhere-near- 40, we are in a restaurant for an evening date, where is your shirt wave confused ? Um umm. I was right there with her when she said "not only do I have to show him how to eat the pasta, but I have to feed it to him too" Oh hay-ell no hammer I would have been coughing and hacking throughout that entire dinner...in between showing him pictures of alll the pets at the house and talking about my extraordinarily close relationship with my mom non-stop. evillol Nicole did her wrong with that one falloff Now about the stuff leftover from when you were married: Girl, put that s*** in storage... until it's time to sell it bored

Mama Nelle: she needs to be seen more. Old skool mamas knowing the appropriate time to give side eye in a conversation are always a plus. martini

Looks like next week the single ladies are heading to a mixer: I guess they're about to get their Sex in The City/Waiting to Exhale on lol

I agree with what artist76 said. She may not be in love with him but more in love with the past they shared and the life she got to lead whilst she was with that version of Prince.

Perhaps she can donate to an auction to raise money for a cause if she chooses not to profit from it personally. Who knows?

Actually, I don't really care why she's keeping the stuff or what she tells us on camera. It really is her headache. I only examine it from the perspective of it not being a good look if you want to meet new men and get to know them. Overall, I just don't think the girl is mal-intentioned as people would purport her to be here, and she seems to get that sort of flack... because naturally, as a Prince affiliate she's not supposed to do anything but fade away into obscurity now that they are no longer together. But I don't see her that way: not for doing the show, not for keeping a few pieces of clothes, not even for having that dreadful China. I simply see her as a woman. A woman who had a crappy end of a marriage, tragic circumstances, and has struggled emotionally to rebuild her life after a divorce. It's a pretty big club, actually, and everyone who's in it has to make mistakes along the way and find their own path to healing and closure with what they've been through. She has to come to the point for herself on what to do with those items...although I do say that, yes, having that stuff in the house is nothing but a man repellent, and if she wants to make room for a new one, those relics need to get gone... but however she sees fits to dispose of them, when she's ready.

...although with her biological clock ticking as loud as it is... well, time is not on the girl's side. But she clearly has more emotional work she has to do, and that's okay. coffee

psychodelicide said: Did Mayte say where the clothes came from, were they left in the house in Spain and she just packed them up when she sold the house, or she randomly went through his wardrobe picking stuff out that she knew he liked?? Wonder if Mayte's mum had to be careful with what she said too, not give too much away?

I agree with your comments about Mayte keeping Prince's clothes. When the other ladies asked her why she couldn't sell them, Mayte responded that she did not want to hurt Prince's feelings. Which is understandable, but shoot, if Prince treated me the way he treated Mayte, I would probably not have a second thought about selling that stuff on Ebay. lol

I wanted to hear more of what Mayte's mom had to say about Prince. I agree that she said a whole heck of a lot more than what was shown. I like her feistyness too; she tells it like it is and does not hold back.

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I really feel sorry for mayte.Watched last night show.Mayte's mother comes across as someone who's bitter .Who's mad because her daughter dosen't have access to prince's money anymore. She knew his reputation long before she threw her young daughter to him.I also feel there just trying to find a plot line to keep mayte on the show. When I first looked at the supposed date I knew the date was fake.I really wish mayte the best. This show does nothing for her.P.s I believe mayte's mother was behind the charlene friend lawsuit.

I don't agree with that. If Mayte were my daughter I would act the same way, whether or not Mayte has forgiven him and moved on is debatable, but I can tell you personally when you love someone and someone else does them dirty like that ...Oh hell no, no forgiveness from me. I have a friend who has an abusive ex and even though she says she's forgiven him and moved on (which i really think she has) i still want to beat him to death with a baseball bat or push him in front of a moving ship (they're icelandic and there are ships everywhere) or slip him a peanut and watch him asphyxiate to death while i stand over his body whispering "do you know why i'm letting you die?" i don't even think he's allergic to peanuts but in my fantasy he is...you get the picture. and i'm sure a lot Nelly's emtions are guilt because she is the one that facilitated Prince and Mayte meeting.

As far as the forced storyline, shit, i'm going through that whole "nobody to date" thing right now. it's hard when you're in your thirties. Although I do wonder if the date was fake. I mean, really, if it wasn't what was Nicole thinking?

Also, as far as Sharee goes, preacher woman has finally said something intellegent when she pointed out that Mayte may not be as over Prince as she claims to be.

Dang! I haven't seen it yet. I wonder if the firewall here will stop youtube. I think I will stay in for lunch and watch this if I can. Can't wait to watch so I can dish about it too!!! tv

hammer NO SUCH LUCK!! Dang on Webmistress!!!!

Oh well, I have to wait until I get home tonight. pout

I actually think she said something to the effect of "that she didn't want to make him mad" and I immediatly thought of the woman who tried to sell one of Prince's jackets on Ebay and how he had his lawyers battle her in court until she was unable to sell it. I think Mayte doesn't so much care about his feelings, more like she doesn't want to get into a battle with his controlling ass.
