Vh1: hollywood exes, mayte

NEW YORK -- Hollywood ex-wives surely have stories to tell, and now five of them will have their own TV series.
VH1 said Wednesday that it is making "Hollywood Exes," a one-hour series that will air this summer. Featured players are the ex-wives of Eddie Murphy, Prince, R. Kelly, Will Smith and Jose Canseco.
The network said that Nicole Murphy, Jessica Canseco, Andrea Kelly, Sheree Fletcher (Smith's ex) and Mayte Garcia (Prince's ex) "want to show the world that they are more than just a trophy wife with a pretty face."
The 10-episode series will follow the women as they establish their own lives apart from their famous exes.

(i wonder what prince thinks of this?)

So they want to show that they aren’t just pretty trophy wives by appearing on a reality TV show about pretty trophy wives? Right…

Shouldn't they have already done that by now, though? Seriously? confuse

When mindless people stop watching. Bottom line!!

These trashy shows obviously get great ratings, so they just keep making crap like this. People need to stop watching and then maybe they will go away.

I have to say that I'm very disappointed in Mayte. I have always liked her, but this really turns me off. I'm so glad I don't waste my precious time with junk like this.

Too many other choices for anyone to be "forced" to watch reality tv. Seriously.

I assumed that there would have been a confidentialty agreement signed by Mayte before they parted not to talk about their marriage, or if they did, it's only in a positive way, will be interesting to see what happens. Will it end up like the First wives club with a happy ending for all?

May be this will be the trigger for Mayte to return to Prince's inner circle??

I can only speculate, but whatever feelings Prince might have had for Mayte just got destroyed, now that she signed up to do a Reality Show. It's been well documented that Prince is a control freak and distrustful of outsiders and the women on that Reality Show look like they are opportunistic. There's no turning back for Mayte.

I have seen a couple of interviews on Entertainment Tonight with the women, and it sounds like it is more about them moving on from being an ex, and not do much the personal details of their former marriages. There are a couple of promos floating around. So don't think Mayte will be letting too much out about Prince, wonder if she is allowed to talk about the second ex- Mrs Nelson though?

I don't get why you would keep your ex husbands last name if you have remarried, seems a bit strange to me.

I thought the way she answered her question on E Extra or whatever the name of that show is was hilarious!! Bilyl asked her was Prince great in bed and she responded by saying he was a great performer on stage!! She bitch slapped Prince and good for her for standing up for herself against the controlling Prince. She truely looked like she was about to cry though when talking about him earlier on before that question. She looked truely heartbroke or either a good actress. I am not going to watch the show but I hope she is successful in her career. She is still as beautiful as ever!!

I swear, if men, had a show like Hollywood Ex-Husbands and kissed and told about their former marriages, so many people would say they were bitch-made. I hope these women get what they want out of this show, because there's no turning back from reality tv.

I've seen the first episode already on the vh1 website and the show really isn't that bad. Just feel sad for Mayte though, seems she still has some residual feelings for ole' man P.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Just saw it.

That part when Will Smith's ex (don't know these other ladies' names!) says to the RKelly ex, "you have to forgive," and she says, "can you be tipsy though?" - Mayte says "yes, I forgave [...] bottle of champagne [...]"

Now what does that mean?? I'm completely clueless.

I have to tell you, I was one of those fans who knew nothing about his women, didn't care about anything but the music. But lurking and being on the org - I started finding out things I wasn't really seeking! It was only about 6 months ago I found old stories of how many girls he had around in the early 90s. So I really have no idea what she means "forgive" - if it means anything at all??

Maybe she just means she's forgiven the situation and moved on.

And yes, totally obvious she has residual feelings. That segment introducing herself, talking about how she thought she'd be married forever. Sad.

Well with Mayte, there's a whole lot more to her situation than what she's saying and it's not being said because she can't say it or she'll get sued. lol And yes it was sad when she said what she said about her marriage. Shucks I believed she was his soul mate...they really did seem to be happy, but I guess "life" just got in the way. Then again...we all know how P moves on with the quickness. I'm wondering how long Mayte and P actually dated...since I remember reading somewhere that when Nona Gaye was dating Prince, she thought that they were on their way down the aisle or something, next thing you know, he was engaged to Mayte.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

He was. At least, that's what I read in a Nona Gaye interview. She wasn't made aware that Prince had dumped her until she accepted an invite to one of his concerts, where he made sure that she had a clear view of the engagement ring that was on Mayte's finger. Now, I know that there's two sides to every story, but too many exes in Prince's world are telling damn near similar stories. I'm just say that there has to be some truth in this guy's ADD when it comes to relationships.

Now for the Mayte being his soul mate comment. I can see where one would believe that. There was a certain chemistry between the two that was undeniable. But, in all fairness, couldn't the same be said about him and Sheila?

I seen a snippet of an post-Prince Mayte interview. She spoke on how they met, how their relationship developed and what she did when their divorce was finalized. Nothing incriminating. In my opinion, Mayte managed to discuss that part of her life in a way that focused on her and not Prince. That's admirable. The show IS about "life after" and that where I feel she's going to keep it. Anyway, I think I'm going to watch the show because of R Kelly's ex-wife's involvement. Because, who knew he was even married to anyone other than Aaliyah, right?
