Idea the Revolution and us fans should consider....

Being a pre- PR fan I think instead of touring... The Revolution should do as the O7ven and release a documentary dvd of how the band was formed and grew. Do a pull no punches tell all “how we came to be” dvd.

2 discs. Main disc 90-120 min. 2nd disc bonus features.Have each member do a brief background bio. Start at the beginning with Dez, Matt and Bobby. Maybe even Gayle. Then Lisa
and Mark. Wendy would be last.

  • Have the band members reflect upon each era in a
round table type discussion if possible.
    In this format:
  • For You : Bobby,Dez and Matt
  • Prince: Bobby, Dez and Matt(Rebels project should be brought up)
  • DM: Bobby, Dez,Matt, Lisa(feelings on Andre leavin’ should be brought up)
  • Cont: Bobby,Dez,Matt, Lisa,Mark(briefly mention show w/RS…BM’s fight w/P on stage a better topic)
  • 1999: Bobby,Dez,Matt,Lisa, Mark, Jill , Alan Leeds
  • PR:Bobby,Matt,Lisa,Mark,Wendy, Alan, Gwen & Eric Leeds
  • ATWIAD :Bobby,Matt, Lisa, Mark, Wendy, Alan Leeds
  • Parade :Bobby,Matt,Lisa,Mark,Wendy, Eric, M.Blisten, Alan Leeds

Band members should only discuss the era’s they were involved in(I know a lot of orgers

worship Wendy but she has to stay in her place and not try to monopolize things for this)

Get comment from other members of the camp to comment on the Revolution in addition to

outsiders to comment (?uestlove others..etc)

  • Roundtable discussions should cover tours, rehearsals,
surprise gigs,etc..and their feelings at that time period. (ans. ? 's from fans)
  • Have the band members dig in their personal stash
    and share some photos
  • Roundtable on the emergence of the Jill, the Time
and Vanity 6 (again only the members who were there..i.e..no Wendy and Eric)
  • Roundtable on the 2nd class of protégé’s Shelia E,
The Family and Mazarati (no Dez)

On the Mazarati piece Mark can get a chance to really set the record straight.

After the Parade era is introduced the band should discuss the “Fallout”.

  • After the “Fallout” piece…have a reflection
moment..Fink can discuss being the “last man”
  • Include rehearsal footage of some sort….rare or
seen…or just some footage of them jamming.
  • Have a special “flashback” feature where the
band members are either listening to or shown old bootleg audio or video. Fans
can either submit some audio or video or vote on what they would like the band
to “flashback” on. This would also leave them..the band open to discuss how
they feel about “boots” and their existence.
  • Have a % of the dvd sales go to Bobby Z’s
    charity for AHA.

I think if this were to happen it would sell pretty well among Prince fans. This can be their story.

I would rather see them get their shine this way instead of hittin’ the road. Last Sunday was
a “had to be there moment”. Hopefully lightning was caught in a bottle and recorded. I don’t think the same feeling can be recaptured by touring. Sure I would love to see them up close and personal myself. However they can only get away with doing songs without Prince for so long. A one shot show works. Spot shows? Maybe A tour? Nah. Besides a number Prince fans or orgers are never satisfied! For years I have read post of fans/orgers “I wish he would return to his old sound….I wish he would blah.blah..” and when he did jokers still weren’t satisfied. If the
Revolution were to tour w/o P it wouldn’t be long before the same jokers who
are crying for a tour and praising them now would turn on them and begin blasting the song selections or arrangements or somethign else. At least with the O7ven and Fdeluxe majority of the original members are there. So it'seasy to digest.

Thoughts?

I think they would possibly have the same amount intrest/support & money rather they release a DVD r go on Tour. however they would run into alotta less stress, by touring. Than trying to piece together a Bio DVD. Wendys farther just passed, so im thinking that this will slow any possible tour r recordings down just a bit.

However if they did, I think they should defintley leave there comments, about Sheila E, The Time, Jill, The Family etc out, just like you stated about Wendy not talking about Era's she wasnt included in, they should not talk about acts they werent included in if the DVD is to focus completely on them, other wise this would be a Paisley or Pince Protege Bio DVD, which would possibly stir up some trouble, Y dont they all just focus on the years they performed together between. 1982-1986 right 82 before Wendy joined. and 83 when DEZ left.

Kind of insulting, this whole idea is. Hell, you can't manage to finish it without presuming people would ruin it for you.

"however they would run into alotta less stress, by touring" - I'd have to disagree here. As much as I love 'em they're all at least 50 or 50+....w/families. Hittin' the road with no major sponorship....playin' smaller venues...they won't have the help(road crew) and perks they once had. At best we could hope for a major city tour. Even then some areas would be left out!

- I could get with this....only one problem they are included these acts in some way except Shelia.

Lisa played on the 1st Time album. 2nd for yrs the Time has stated they whooped P's azz on stage...never heard the Revolution address this. Would be interesting to hear how they felt. 3rd Terry Lewis tried out for the band after Andre left....Brown Mark stated yrs ago that Jam & Lewis actually informed him he got gig. Jam tried out as well. Z or Fink put St. Paul on to vaccant keys slot in the Time. There is history there.

Jill and the Fam - had a few songs that P fleshed out with Rev. So they had some involvement.

"dont they all just focus on the years they performed together between. 1982-1986 right 82 before Wendy joined. and 83 when DEZ left." - Hmmmm...but they were performing together before '82, ignoring the early yrs takes away from their history..they were just nameless b4 '82...lol..which could be addressed also.

Like I said it's just and idea to consider. Just as the tour is an idea at this point.

This is no different from what they've been doing for the last 15yrs. The venues get smaller when your an 80's band/artist still performing, and you aint a pop culture icon. Who says they want get a road manager? Tour or DVD either way they wont be getting major publicity. There doing this 4 a small group of die hard fans.

2nd for yrs the Time has stated they whooped P's azz on stage...never heard the Revolution address this.

One important person would be left out of this discussion, PRINCE!!! However if they speak about this it would be acceptable, because its from there point of view. So this i kinda get smile

3rd Terry Lewis tried out for the band after Andre left.

Something for The Time to discuss

..they were just nameless b4 '82...lol..which could be addressed also.

No they were not <img src=" /> The name Revolution came in w/ The Purple Reign 82-84. Before then they were P's band. If not so Gayle and Andre were apart of the Revolution(i think not). Its not just a name, theres a whole concept that goes along with it.

Im just adding to the thread conversation, hope u dont take this personal hug

"Who says they want get a road manager? -Not a road manager a road crew! Somebody has got to set up and break down the equipment....lug the amps and pa..etc. As a gigging musician myself I know that can be pain at times...and I'm younger than all of them.

"The name Revolution came in w/ The Purple Reign 82-84" - uhh...you mean "1999" don't you? 'Cause that's when the name first appeared on an album cover.

"Its not just a name, theres a whole concept that goes along with it." - I agree. Kinda hard to pick up a story in the middle though when 3/4 of the band had been together for a couple of yrs(Lisa, Matt, Dez & Bobby). As far as we know P could've been callin' 'em the Rev back during the DM days but didn't get around to make it public til 1999.

You do realize when I said "nameless" I meant b4 the world knew them officially as the "Revolution"? Not just as "P's band"

"Im just adding to the thread conversation, hope u dont take this personal" - lol.....I'm not sensative...it's cool!

#1) Point taken, but im sure they have a few connections, and can get 2 help w/this

#2) lol Please note how i spelt "Purple Rain", w/ Reign instead of Rain. Because Im refering to the point of time were Prince ruled the charts. "The Purple Reign Era" also note I put the year that 1999 was released 1982, so Im aware of when The Revolution title appeared.
