I loved meeting and hanging out with the both of you!

The concert was an amazing experience to me. Like some other fans here, I don’t care that any cues were missed or that they weren’t as “tight” a band as they were 20 years ago or that Prince wasn’t there. All I knew was there was no other place I wanted to be than at that show.

Due to the tremendous luck my friends have at concerts, we were on the front to the right of the stage. I won’t go into the detail of the setlist because that has been posted here before, but I will say that I had several moments that I was crying: Mountains, Anotherlover.. and Life Can Be So Nice. I also cried when Bobby gave his speech about his heart attack and expressed his love and appreciation for what Prince has done for him.

It was a wonderful weekend and that was due to the Revolution and my friends, old and new.

To the New York Contigency:

Banks, JumpUpOnThe1, estelle81, sunflower and HonestMan13: you guys were a joy and wonderful surprise. Thank you for keeping the parties moving on both night at Seven.

To the orgers currently and formerly known as:

Anxiety, Endorphin74, Mars23, Efan, GangstaFam/Tron, CarrieMpls, Violett, Madartista, MiguelGomez, GaryMF, Hiinkelte, EskomoKisses, Handclapzfingasnapz, TMPletz, RipHer2Shreds, and every other name that is escaping me now, I love you guys so much and I cannot think of a better group of people to share this experience with.

The good:

Meeting Bobby and having my pic taken with him and Fink.

I got to talk to Lisa and tell her that her and Wendy gave my favorite concert of all time. And I got a picture with her.

The food in the VIP section was awesome.

The Bad:

Dude singing: “do I look gay to you?” On Uptown. No. Just, no.

The VIP event was a clusterfuck to me. I think they oversold the room. People were walking up to the head of the line like they had some type of entitlement and ignored the people who were waiting patiently. The band wasn’t there when we got upstairs. There was a blocked doorway leading to downstairs and in my opinion, for the most part, fans were acting like entitled assholes.

Vendetta1 I feel the same way. there's was no place i rather have been except right there with all my NYC peeps including my honorary nyc bro . And what made my weekend so much more special is getting to know You, Violet and CarrieMpls (you guys are SPECIAL) and i hope that we can all get together again soon..

Good review! Quite emotional...I like that. Those other reviews are also great but this one added a very interesting touch to the other reviews. I´m happy for you that you met so many old school orgers/friends there and I´m quite surprised to see those names that you mentioned above.

They served hummus, sushi, turkey rolls and chick satay. They gave us a glass of champagne as we were coming up the stairs.

I guess it's true that Minneapolis is so cold it keeps the bad people out! It was nothing but love everywhere we went and with everyone we met. The Revolution show itself could've been taking place at Woodstock in the 60's for all of the love flowing in the room. Truly a great experience in a great city!

I completely agree. Everyone was so friendly, even random people I ran into on the street. The pre-party on Saturday night was almost as fun as the concert, with everyone singing along to the songs and some people dancing on the tables. I wish I could go back there every weekend!

-Nostalgia aside, The Revolution is not as tight as any of Prince's touring bands. I love them forever, but they were a bit rusty. Don't get me wrong, they are fucking fierce still...just not in Prince shape. Forgotten lyrics and miscues abound. Anyone who tells you that they could whip Prince's current group are mistaken. They have more personality and character...which is what I went to the show for. That said...all that did was add charm and warmth. You could tell these people love each other, and they knew that we love them too.

-Lastly, the crowd skewed older than they typical Prince crowd. It seemed as if those who actually LIVED the pre and immediately post Purple Rain era were out in full force. Which makes sense. All in all, it was worth the price. Glad Bobby Z. is feeling fine.

Skywalker..thank U 4 u're opinion..But seriously they sound better now than ANY band Prince has ever established..don't get me wrong they all sound pretty good..yet..4 The Revolution 2 sound this GREAT at this time and age..compared 2 the younger NPG, rather 7 years younger or so..The Revolution sold out..and gave a performance w/out their composer..Wonderful job guys..I totally appreiciate it..WONDERFUL.. lets C the NPG try this in 25 years..I believe even they'd say The Revolution was GREAT..U're one out of thousands..But it seems someone has 2play Simon Cowell..lol..I'm Kidding..Peace

That´s what I´m saying. Just ONE horn, Eric Leeds (more than one horn is only ok in my book if the other one is Atlanta Bliss or Eddie Minninfield).

No "go go go " during Let´s Go Crazy, lots of keyboards /synths....and no 70s revue setlist (i.e all those old Sly Stone covers).

Prince is still da man and he can play his songs however he wants but THIS is the true Mpls sound and instead of playing covers in order to raise awareness for old school funk, he should rather remind people what the Minneapolis sound was all about. But his last attempts at that were an indicator that Prince doesn´t seem to "feel" his old music the way we do.
