Where there any good Jams on Jill Jones "Jill Jones" 1987 or Elisa Fiorillo "I AM" Albums 1990?

Jill Jones Paisley Park album is the best protege album there is.

Can't say anything about Elisa's release, since I don't own it.

Jill Jones' album is definately one of the best releases on Paisley Park, and should be near the top of any Prince fan's shopping list.

There isn't a bad track on it, some of them date back to 1982/83 from the 1999/Purple Rain era, and collects some of the best material from that period not kept for Prince himself. This is a project that was on the back-burning throughout 85/6, but unlike a lot of things Prince keeps cooking, it didn't go off the boil.

Elisa Fiorillo's album, eh - it's from later on, so the quality has dipped by then, it's also less of a Prince production, although it's purple through and through with David Z, Levi and Michael Koppleman picking up where Prince leaves off.

Wow, never heard any of the Jill Jones tracks... Did they sell that album on vinyl and cd?

Yes.

I love the Jill Jones album. Every song! "All Day, All Night" is like Jill fronting The Revolution, that is how great it is. That song always gets me going.

Jill Jones is almost entirely a Prince album, and without a doubt a Prince masterpiece. It's a must-have and I don't think there's anyone here to disagree. Prince composed, arranged and recorded all the songs except the cover of his own With You (recorded by Jill under David Z.'s supervision). All the songs are really, REALLY, impressive and moving.

I Am is a much more minor release but the 5 songs with Prince contributions are cool, though, with a few really interesting tracks. I Am and On The Way Up are solid synth-funk, Playgirl is kinda funny and Oooh This I Need is quite a surprising composition for Prince, sounding a lot like Dave Stewart and Candy Dulfer's Lily Was Here (it's possible that Prince liked the song and wanted to record his "own" version of it). As for Love's No Fun it's not Prince's best ballad but it's decent. The 5 non-Prince songs are light-hearted pop-dance songs, typical of these years and easily forgotten.

In these internet days it's easy to get both, so don't ask and just download

In my opinion out of all the female proteges , it was JILL JONES that blew it out of the box : ALL DAY ALL NIGHT is one of the funkiest jamz any of his proteges could have done. The woman had a vocal range from deep/low to high pitch screaming : Her vocal performance on VIOLET BLUE is also amazing :::Hands down to me the most talented of them all vocal-wise :

On Elisa's album, my fave song was "Love's No Fun." I also like "Ooh, This I Need" and "On the Way Up."

Jill Jones' album is okay, but honestly I like the unreleased versions of those songs with Prince on vox more than I do on Jill's album.

Yes, she one of the few protoeges who really has a great voice. They should have worked more together.

Indeed. When listening to the few circulating tracks from the unreleased second album it's kinda obvious that Prince underestimated her potential, though. It's odd: it's like he made the same mistake for both her and Sheila, and at the same time: making them sound like post-Vanity lolitas singing minimalist synth-pop, when both had artistic ambitions and the means to fulfill them if he'd cared to provide deeper songs. Both ran away. A pity.

I like both of their voices. Elisa's a little more refined a singer. But the material of Jill's album is much stronger than I Am. Although I like that album too. They're both fairly decent albums to have in your collection. Everybody will find something from both that they can get into.
