Re: Long version of the interview. Jessie talks too much. lol

lol Jesse commandeered that shit, didn't he??! Lol! But hey, that's how the best stories come out, so I'm cool with that!

I know that's right...he gave us some good stuff. Besides, his chattering and not being able to sit still is kinda cute, lol

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

They were originally created as Prince's side project and used to support his band and a cheap way to have a band that tours with him. All of them were under his payroll (for the most part) and when they started showing him up, he wasn't happy with that. He created a monster with The Time and they could have eaten him up in the big cities if they were playing back to back. Prince knew this and would say and do anything to keep them in line and under his thumb. At the end of the day, they were still his employees and working on the tours that he arranged, releasing the records that he produced and showing off an image that he manufactured. People really need to understand that basically The Time was in many ways simply Prince when he was in the mood to sound like a funk/rock band. Because of that, he had an image he saw for the band and wanted no deviation from that. I think this is the best example of how much of a controlling person he is. Looking back over the last 30 years, they all respect him, but they all wish it would have been different and many of us wonder how far they might have gone if they had been given a little more space to grow.

Good points all of which will be ignored by the haters on this board.

Those are good points, but you have to stop and wonder what kind of demons Prince has that he couldn't be happy about his friend's success.

If you think about it, The Time is his most successful protege project, and you have to wonder if he sabotaged others just to keep them from becoming what The Time, in a way, did become.....an act as good as him. Stepping back, the man had talent to produce and put out good side acts. He knows music and could have had a great future as a producer as well...but for whatever reason he couldn't let go.

Prince is an enigma....if you listen to his music it seems his actions contradicts him obtaining what it is he says he desires. shrug

I agree. The one thing that stopped Prince from having more success as a producer is his own ego.If he had not been so controlling and knew how to handle his ego,he could have had a whole lot of successful side projects.

On another note....Jesse has no problem just laying everything to bare. I mean he just puts it all down and out in the open.
