Will Rhino release Best of THE TIME?

If The Original 7ven does start selling albums, do you think that Rhino/Warner Bros. will want to get on the band wagon and release a BEST OF THE TIME CD? It could be an amazing disk with some rare songs and would capture the wave of popularity if it happens.

Possible track listing:

Disc 1:

Cool

777-9311

Grace (b-side)

Get It Up

Tricky (b-side)

The Walk

The Stick

Wild and Loose

The Bird

Jungle Love

Chocolate

Jerk Out

Blondie

Skillet

Donald Trump (black version)

Release It

Shake!

additional tracks:

Murph Drag

9 Lives

Velvet Kitty Cat

What additional changes would you make to this?

Prince would make some extra money (which he seems to need) and WB/Rhino would be able to sell a few albums without too much extra promotion, and it would be a way to get some of the Corporate World album out there and recoup some of that cost.

The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

Great idea and I bet that Warners would support a project like this, but I have a feeling that Prince is the one who is stopping it from happening confused

Some real money could be made on a project like this. The Original 7ven are gonna be touring in 2012,playing many of those old hits.Newer fans are gonna wanna purchase those songs. The 'time' is right for an excellent compilation.Throw in a few bonus tracks for the diehards and this thing could move some units.

The Time's albums have never been out of print, except Pandemonium, and it was re-released a couple of years ago.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

If WB was truly interested in it, it would've happened after "Pandemonium". If it didn't happen because of Prince, it likely won't happen now, either.

Wouldn't Prince have to release the bootlegs to Warners have them on this? Not gonna happen! Prince isn't giving Warners anything without geting something back and that ain't gonna happen either! Nice idea though.

I'd rather see a Sheila E. GH done with Paradise Gardens on it! cloud9

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I have no need for a best of The Time, owing the whole discography already.

What I would like to see is there first 3 albums released released on 180 gram vinyl such as the excellent recent Prince reissues.

The single mix of "A Love Bizzare" should definately be out on CD as well as digital by now. And "Holly Rock". She only had a few hits (and singles) but a nice collection wouid be...well, nice.

Wow. Someone wrote an article about this as well.

http://theseconddisc.com/2011/07/29/reissue-theory-the-time-all-time-greatest/

They list the album as:

All-Time Greatest (Warner Bros./Rhino)

  1. Get It Up (Single Edit) – 3:01
  2. Cool (Single Edit) – 3:12
  3. Girl (Single Edit) – 3:40
  4. 777-9311 (Single Edit) – 3:28
  5. Grace – 2:37
  6. The Walk (Single Edit) – 3:24
  7. Gigolos Get Lonely Too (Single Edit) – 4:42
  8. Ice Cream Castles (Single Edit) – 3:37
  9. Tricky – 3:12
  10. Jungle Love (Single Edit) – 3:24
  11. The Bird (Single Edit) – 3:41
  12. Jerk Out (Edit) – 3:54
  13. Chocolate (7″ Remix) – 4:23
  14. Murph Drag

I'd add a few to this but it would be a great start!

:omfg:Holy guacemole, the most dreaded words on a compilation album! Single edit! Chopping songs down, mutilating and castrating them so they can put more titles on a cd. That's why I hate The Hits/b-sides and like Ultimate Prince.

I agree,no single edits!! The Time were known for lengthy jams and a 'Best Of' compilation should reflect this.An 80-minute CD can easily fit the album versions of all their singles and still have enough room for a few bonus tracks.

FUCK single edits!

I like to nerd out and have all the versions, edits etc, but the Time 7" edits are like the aural equivalent of erectile dysfunction. Pop a little blue pill and put on the album version!

I want the single edits!

I have no idea why other people want the same album versions they already have repeated on a compilation. confuse If I want to hear the album versions, I play the albums. If I want a quick Time sampler that breezes through their entire catalog in under an hour then give me this imaginary greatest hits collection.

I just meant the pale in comparison, not connected to the 'fantasy football' tracklists of this thread. Sure it would be nice to get remastered 7" edits of the singles currently unavailable on CD geek

Of course in a perfect world, we'd get the albums remastered and then remastered 7" versions on a separate collection along with b-sides and remixes.

And in a perfect perfect world, we'd get unreleased tracks too.
