Purple Reign Tour 2011 - The Time , Sheila , The Family & The Revolution

With all the news of late about FDeluxe, The E Family and The original 7even all coming out with new cd's it would be really cool to get all of these guys together and go on a mega tour. It realy sucks that Prince has blocked The Family and The Time from using their original names , but U know what screw Prince and show him how it's done by putting this tour together and blowing off the roof of every venue played accross the country. The Family is good 2 go , The original 7 members of the Time r ready to go , Sheila is always up for a purple jam and Brownmark has stated he would like to see the Revolution reunited before the end of 2011 for the 25th Anniversary of the break up of the band. When we say the Revolution we are talking about Wendy as the lead singer ,not Princey. This tour could be a huge sucess and this would really satify what the "real fans" want from the Purple Reign 2011 Tour !

I think Maya Rudolph should replace Prince based on her awesome performance of Darling Nikki.

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

How about a revolving combination of Wendy Jill Jones & Dez Dickerson

I was thinking the same thing....how cool it would be if everyone got together and did a big tour. There are new albums by The Time and The Family,a new Andre Cymone remaster,a new Sheila E. recording (with her family, but still.....) and it just seems like the Minneapolis Sound is making its way back. Now would be a perfect time for a big reunion tour!

My vote would be for Wendy to front the Revolution too.

Except now it would The Original 7ven, FDeluxe, and Sheila Escovedo due to legal name rights ;0)

I hope Mazarati don't try to come back and end up having to change their to Mazda or something.

Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

Prince would be at every show in his old man disguise, unplugging cords left and right and dumping red paint on Wendy like Carrie or something. lol

It is NOT going down without him! hmph! lol

Its a good idea, though.

There was talk after the Family Jamm show back in 2003 of doing some sort of mini tour in 2004 with Sheila, The Family and The Revolution. It didn't come together then and personally, I don't think it is going to happen now. I don't know if The Revolution could use that name and I wonder how well Bobby is doing and if he could take the rigors of that much rehearsal and touring since he got out of the hospital. Without him, it wouldn't be the revolution because he was the drummer. Period.

I'd be very happy if Sheila and everyone just decided to do another Family Jamm show or two. Maybe one on each coast and one in Dallas or something. Unfortunately I don't know how successful the first one ended up being after all of the costs.

If you were able to go, you know how fun it was, especially seeing everyone jam at the end on Baby I'm A Star. That was an amazing night with so much talent. Seeing The Family, Madhouse and others was a complete trip.

The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

The order of the songs for The Revolution part of the show was: Mountains, America, Pop Life, Raspberry Beret, Anotherloverholenyohead, Purple Rain (with Patti Labelle) and then Baby I'm A Star (encore jam with everyone on stage) which jammed for 8 minutes.

I remember it well because I was lucky enough to be stage with The Revolution videotaping them. Going to the rehearsals, and being up on stage with them for their reunion was one of the coolest nights of my life. There is a clip of them rehearsing two songs posted on the Girl Brothers page on youtube.
