The similarities are there, but they sound different to me, only because they were programmed differently with slightly different instrumentation...plus the songs are totally different. Im pretty sure even Prince pulled this beat from the vault the way the linn sounds compared to his later linn work on Lotus & 20Ten...you can hear that this beat is pure linn..not sampled and clipped.

It is just like Hanging On A String & No One's Gonna Love You..both are made with the exact same instrument, but sound like two differnt songs.

Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

damn. you are right. Ignore cbarnes3121 - he thinks Prince operates on a level that dosn't allow for things like copying a beat or riff even tho he has done it numerous times...JUST LIKE ANY MUSICIAN. Little Red Corvette=Up the Ladder to the Roof chorus

http://youtu.be/9v1S-ypz5a4

There's a part of a live Billy Preston song from the 70s that is the same as a main part of the Purple Rain chorus...then Johhny Lang stole the opening chord progressin on this song

Don't get so bent out of shape just becasue someone points out that musicians swipe stuff form each other...lol.

yea every song prince ever written was ripped off of somebody everything he ever did in life was his birth was even a rip off of somebody elses brith

Even if Prince ever actively or intentionally sought out things to steal or copy, his ego wouldnt allow him to actually use and release it. And then there is that whole thing about being the most prolific musician on the planet for the last 3 decades or so.

Not true. Prince, like most artists, has a track record of borrowing from others.

Cream's main melody was taken from a 60s song (see Possessed for detail). Guitar's main riff is copied from U2's I Will Follow.... Lavaux borrows heavily from 'Automatic' from the Pointer Sisters... 3 chains O Gold is Prince's attempt at Bohemian Rhapsody...

to name a few, there is more!

Who said it was intentional? Prolific does not equal quality. I'd rather have fewer gems than lots of quartz.

Isn't that a preset from a Tr909?

I was wondering something similar. I mean, there is nothing terribly original there.

perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...
