Hey Orgers I've been reading different threads about how people say Andy Allo is pretty much garbage....I haven't seen her "perform" yet but have only heard one sound clip of her which seemed, I guess "okay". What is it about her that people don't like? I'm just curious. I haven't seen or heard enough of her to make a judgement yet. Comments please!

Cuz they're jealousssssss.

They think she's getting some of that Prince-lovin' and they want him for themselves.

According to most concert reports here about her work on stage the past month or so, all she does is stand still, holding a guitar. Not playing it, but holding it. And if she does actually pick a string or two, her skill level is absurdly elementary. Why WOULD people support that?

Maybe she's hated because she is young and pretty, but not that skilled? Proving that Prince is indeed a dude.

Only time I've seen her was on the French television show. She is certainly good eye candy but I have to agree with those that have mentioned her lack of talent on guitar and when she stepped up to the mic for her featured vocal I thought to myself, "Huh? This woman does not have professional level pipes. What the heck is she doing on stage with Prince?"

For the thread starter and anyone else, just check out the threads in the Concerts forum. There are plenty of objective posts by folks who've attended recent shows discussing Allo's performance ability in Europe. Some like what she does, most don't. And it's certainly not just females feeling that way either.

That's weird...the majority of comments I can recall about her lack of guitar skills were made by men.

Also, maybe I've just missed the most relevent posts but I really don't see "hate" for Andy. Talk about exaggerating a situation and stirring up drama by throwing around the word "hate". :lo: But as usual around here, if you don't fall all over everything (or whomever) Prince does - you're "just jealous".

I like her! I think she can sing and it's obvious she can play guitar..not like a professional but I do believe that was her playing in that acoustic version of guitar and it wasn't that bad.

I don't think it's pure jealousy because even IDA is pretty but she doesn't get hate. I think people have a problem with musicians whose skills aren't on the same level of prince's other band members.

I think it's a learning experience and she's not just eye candy...he wants to help her get noticed and better at being a musician.

I don't know why people assume she's dating..no solid evidence and please.."they way he looks at her" it's stage play.

For those who think her guitar playing is ok, it is NOT ok. She needs

to take music lessons. A great school is the Berklee College of

Music where Esperana Spaulding graduated. Ms Spaulding is

now an accomplished jazz bassist, composer, and singer. Prince

asked Spaulding to perform in the early W2A performances and

she did. She would make an excellent teacher for Andy.

Andy's voice is great but not as energetic and powerful as some

of his other singers. Her style is a bit more like Bria's, softer, yet jazzier

than Bria's. Prince may prefer this lighter yet funky style.

Andy has over 9000 followers on facebook. We have yet to see

the full extent of her artistic abilities but will know after the

European tour. Meanwhile she absolutely should avoid the fake/wimpy

guitar playing until she is schooled enough to actually perform.

Wow, I agree, the unnecesary hatred is so ridiculous and a bit on the "nutty" side at times.

I have to say, I do find it strange how some fans have gone on some nutty, hate rampage against Andy and Shelby J on this site, but when Ida joined the band, even before some of these fans seen Ida perform with Prince, there was and still no hate threads created against Ida. Some haven't seen her perform on stage with Prince, and they still praise Ida. Ida could sneeze and belch on stage, and I bet she'll get a pass and praise from fans.

I've seen Ida perform at the NYC show and didn't find her performance that impressive. As a matter of fact, I found her a bit shy with her performance, and felt she could have put a bit more personality into her playing, but that doesn't mean I don't respect her as a musician or think she's not a good musician or feel the need to throw "hate" at her, because of how I feel about her bass playing.

Well some haven't seen Andy perform live with Prince either and some continuously knock her down, make all kinds of assumptions and other nonsense towards her, just like some have done against Shelby J, just for the sake of hating. Is it envy? Who knows, but the hatred makes absolutely no sense at all, because neither Andy or Shelby J have stolen anything from the lives of fans. It's one thing to give constructive criticism, about any artist's performance/skills, but the hatred and other craziness/ugliness some post on here about them, I mean is that really necessary? Makes you wonder about the agenda behind some of these fans' hatred towards some of his band members. Makes no sense at all.

Please give your personal definition of "hate" (not the definition cut and pasted from the dictionary, as I already understand that definition) or give an illustration of the massive and extensive "hatred" you are seeing directed towards Andy around here, because I truly do not see it. Do I see some posts where the poster does not praise her? Yes. Do I see posts critisizing her guitar playing? Yes. Do I even see some pettiness towards her from the nut-contingent who never have anything positive to say about any female in close proximity to Prince. Yes.

But I honestly do not see the extreme HATRED!!!!!!!! you are going on about.

You won't give examples of the HATRED!!!!!!!!!!1 you're blathering on about because you simply can't. You deliberately chose to use sensational, strong language like "hate", "hating", "haters" and "hatred" yet you refuse to back up your accusations when questioned and I'm sorry, but that's just wrong and reduces your 'argument' to nothing but plain propoganda.

I wouldn't want you to 'force' me to see the extreme HATRED!!!!!!!!!!!!1 you claim is being directed at Andy and Shelby, I merely asked you to explain to me what your definition of this HATRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 is, and maybe point out some examples, because we clearly have differing ideas of what constitutes HATRED!!!!!!!!!!1 and, if HATRED!!!!!!!!!!!! actually is going on -- REAL HATRED -- I'd certainly like to be made aware of it and read it with my own eyes so as to form my opinion about it (vs taking the claims of one person who refuses to prove her claims).

As already stated, all I've seen around here is legitimate critiques of Andy's dubious guitar skills, some remarks about her being boring, and a smattering of petty jabs stemming from the usual suspects who snark on all women close to Prince. NONE of that anywhere NEAR meets the criteria of such a strong word as HATRED.

But I guess HATRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sounds so very dramatic and exciting doesn't it.

It's amazing how the women who work with Prince gets picked apart maybe because there's some jealous women who wish to GOD they were in these women shoes.........They did it to TAMAR , SHELBY , JILL, The 6 Ladies , and so on .

The only thing that's funny to me is how the Org has become the guitar expert, stating she should take classes at Berkley and all that mess. I've watched youtube clips of Andy and she's plays the guitar fine to me, probably better than some of you so-called experts. Either way everyone is entitled to their opinion and no matter what the opinions are, Andy and Shelby are having the time of their lives and could care less about what any of us have to say here...would you care if you were in their shoes?
