This is really horrible.

I don't use Facebook, and never have. So, I don't really know how it works. Would someone please explain something to me? Would this be someone Mayte knows, i.e., a "friend"? Or can a Facebook friend be anyone out there who also uses Facebook? Please don't jump all-over me for not knowing this - I've just never understood the appeal of Facebook, so don't do it.

Twitter confuses me too. Last week we had a tornado warning in Dallas. There was lots of information on Twitter about confirmed tornado sightings that turned out to be false. There were also weird posts by people making fun of the tornado victims that I just couldn't fathom. I guess Twitter has been helpful somehow for people in Egypt and other places, but I don't see what good it does here, other than confuse people.

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

OK, so then how does Twitter work? Do you search for a certain subject/topic and then receive messages from anyone anywhere on that topic/subject? I have read here people saying that so-and-so posted about a particular topic. But how did they get a message from that person in the first place?

I think you become that person's "follower" and then you get all their "tweets." Maybe you get your follower's tweets as well; I'm not sure about that. All I know is that I mainly hear Twitter mentioned in two contexts: people in repressive countries getting a message out that would otherwise be censored, and celebrities in non-repressive countries making dumb, hasty comments that they probably wouldn't have made if they used one of the many other PR avenues available to them.

I miss the good old days when you would only read about celebrity love affairs, breakups, and fights in papers like the National Enquirer and most of those stories would be denied by their official publicists. It seems like the new media are turning the world into one big seventh-grade cafeteria.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

I don't want to know anything bout any celebrity's personal life, including Prince. I wonder how some of these people would feel about their own personal lives being splattered on the pages of the net for all to see.

I saw that crazy tweet when it occured. I responded to her saying that she was crazy and disrespectful. She then apologized for her statement and started following me. I blocked her crazy behind.

Now on to Mayte and this ticket issue: Most of you are right. Prince is not obligated to let her in for free. Also, we don't know how their relationship ended and what terms they are on now. But you have to reverse this. If they were on horrible terms, would she have asked to attend the concert in the first place? So if she felt comfortable enough to ask for VIP status.....

My other thought is that he let Whitney Houston's high behind in for free (didn't reports say that she kept calling in for tickets?). He certainly could have extended that same courtesy to the mother of his child. But of course, this is clearly his prerogative--it just would have been a decent gesture.

Not to be crass, but it may simply be a business decision for who gets in free.

It is more likely that on air media outlets will report on the shows (free advertising) if they can show footage with celebrities partying at his show, making it a must go to "scene" (cross pollinization with other audiences).

That's more likely to be an attractive proposition if the celebrity is an oscar winner like Penelope Cruz or Javier Badiem than it is from Mayte, who, if known at all, is already known by people who'd be going to the concert anyway.

I got a pretty ugly orgnote when I first started posting here too. I posted it, requiring if it was an example of normal behaviour on the org.

Somehow, I never got hateful orgnotes anymore after that. I don't complain to mods. I'll just out the haters. I like transparancy and accountable behaviour.

I think presumably she would have wanted VIP tickets which P would need to approve which is understandable really as VIP's can get so up close and personal with the stage, I don't know maybe he just feels a bit weird about being around her again, it's been awhile!!

QuasarOfRock said:

I'm more confused about her needing 'approval' to go to a show?

I'd think if it was just interest in seeing him live, she could have bought tickets and gone to a show and he'd never have to know she was there.

Unless he's got some sort of restraining order or something and has to be alerted if she's in the vicinity?

That part is more strange to me than Prince expecting her to pay. (Asshole as that seems, that's pretty typical of Prince.)
