Why is he supposed to feel compelled to reach out to an ex? It's so bizarre that some of you ascribe your own feelings onto him. Their breakup was not amicable. Everyone knows how ugly it got. Why the hell should he feel so benevolent? It's laughable that so many of you put these people through your own filters yet if you were in the same spot, it's likely you would act the same way.

That is what I am trying to understand Spinlight.

She obviously contacted him hoping to go for free. If she just wanted to go to the concert she could have bought a ticket and he would be none the wiser for it.

I like Mayte (as much as I can like anyone I don't know) but seems to me troubled was stirred up for troubles sake.

You want to go to the concert, buy a ticket and leave him out of it.

Or maybe he called her and told her out of the blue, "You're approved to come to my show---but you gotta pay". At this point we just don't know either's motive. Maybe he started off being a dick so she posted in retaliation. Who knows...Who cares? LOL

You know what.

If my exes want copies of my upcoming book or want to attend one of my future art exhibits, those bitches are paying too. lol

Why does Prince owe Mayte anything?

I'm sure she got a good divorce settlement.

While I agree with those that say he doesn't owe her anything, I think it's kind of petty that he's charging her but still lets countless scores of other celebs at his shows for free. What's just one more "non-paid" ticket going to hurt?

Now, if she was asking for a horde of tickets, I can understand her being told to pony up. And with the way these shows are being attended (or not) lately, he should be paying HER to come to a show!! lol

I am only asking a question, so please don't get all fired up...But Dave, Mayte's "buddy", states that he is 100% sure that celebrities do not pay..How does he know so much about Prince? I mean do all these celebrities who attend Prince's concerts consult with Dave & Mayte? just curious? I know I am being a little sarcastic..but if he is 100% sure, he has to have some confirmation confused

Hi, this is Dave....I am not gonna go on with this, but we know some of the celebrities that went to the show, and of the ones we know....NONE OF THEM PAID. That is how we know. And people this is not about money, things are fine...its about respect. Why should Whitney Houston go for free? Mayte was an original member of the New Power Generation, had a 10 year long working/personal relationship with the man, did not have a horrible ugly divorce, kept quiet about anything personal regarding them, and pretty much does her own thing quietly and respectful of the past they shared.

I know there are a bunch of you fans that would drink the poison purple kool aid if it was handed out at one of these shows, so none of the negative remarks said here, or on her facebook page will be taken personally.

She has no ill will toward him and is not degrading his immense talent in anyway. She just stated a point on her own personal facebook page, and now it made it on to here, which is no big deal, but if she wanted the org people to comment directly she would have posted it on here.

This remark was not meant to cause such an uproar, it was just stating a fact. She is fine and over it, and believe me, did not shed a tear. In fact, it was like whatever..its dinnertime anyway. So please stop looking so deep into things and take it for what it is, just a girl whose ex disrespected her, and her being like....really? And please, if you dont know facts, or personally talked to Prince or Mayte about there previous affairs, nobody cares to hear your pointless assumptions you devised by listening to a song you assume was written about her and "how she gone did him wrong"......remember when you assume...you make an ASS out of U and ME....

ok said my peace.....

Chill dude, keep your shirt on, the poster "Kgarcia" and others were just inquiring or curious/discussing whether or not some celebrities pay or don't when attending an artist's concert (not Prince's in particular). No one is denying that all celebrities don't pay or that they do. Whatever happened with Mayte's situation regarding whether she had to pay or not, is actually her business, and she has the right to feel the way she does, and I agree that's it's also no one's business here, but if a comment is posted on a public/social network, from an ex of a celeb, you can guarantee that if that comment is not pulled from someone from a fan site and posted elsewhere, then it's no surprise that if it ends up in the press or some other media. There's really not much you can do about it other than Mayte clarifying her comment on her own to shut down any speculation/assumption or rumor.

Secondly, how you feel about Mayte not getting in for free or paying, compared to other celebs you state are/were able to get in for free to see Prince's concerts, is something you will have to take up with Prince and his camp, because no one here can answer your concern about that. I'm sure many of his former associates/bandmembers/ex-wives/ex-girlfriends, are at least aware, that if they post any comment on a social network, that has a tinge of curiosity or negativity, regardless of how "innocent" or "positive" they think it may be about him, then there will always be some, slight possibility their comment will end up on some other site, and they will find themselves defending/clarifying those comments to no end. A little common sense goes a long way.

It's a chance everyone takes when posting on a social network, and some of these former associates/bandmembers/ex-wives/girlfriends, etc., who choose to post questionable comments on their FB/Twitter pages, need to take some of the responsibility for what they post, if they don't want people respondng or reacting to what they post on a public network. Point blank, cut the bs and let's be real here, and by the way, this is not about drinking some damn, purple-ass koolaid. Have a good day.

lol Why would you assume or doubt that some celebrities don't have to pay to go to any of his shows, because quite frankly, that could go either way--some probably do, and some probably don't. Especially when there's expenses to be paid, like bandmembers/techs, and other expenses/fees.

[Edited 5/28/11 11:02am]

I was at a Prince concert once many years ago with a band and I don't think think they payed to get in, but were invited. But I never pretended I know anything, that's why I was asking if she has any info on that. I guess you may be you right and some pay and some don't.

Exactly, and I guess that decision is always left up to the artist and his/her team as to whom they will allow free access. If there was some misunderstanding in all of this, with Mayte, then more than likely she'll clarify all the speculations/assumptions to stop it from running rampant. shrug

Y'know sis, I think I'll go back to my policy of not commenting on ex-associates since people wanna get all emotional and defensive about it and the usual suspects start clowning orgers who don't agree with them.

I'm getting a little sick of the few individuals on here who consistently rag on folks without provocation.

So what she had to pay, how does that make Prince a "douche" or whatever?! Why should she get special treatment because she's Prince ex-wife, she's an 'ex' for a reason. I'm pretty sure people who is calling Prince all kinds of names do NOT give their ex's special treatment, I'm pretty sure Mayte do NOT give her ex's special treatment so why is she saying oh "HE'S MAKING ME PAY?!?!" like that ho don't have any money. lol Don't get me wrong, free is always great but damn. Thing is, what was the point of making it public that she had to pay? lol That's how rumors and speculation get started, and now she found herself having to defend a comment she put in print. If it's posted on a social network, there's no way she couldn't have known others would read it and question or react to it. It only takes a little common sense to know, that she being an ex-wife of his, that there's a possibility any comment she makes about him, would attract responses, whether her comments are positive or negative.

I don't know about that, Soulalive, because I remember she was at his show in Vegas at the opening of the 3121 club, and he showed her much respect at that show. There's still 2 LA shows, who knows, she may still decide to attend.

There's an epidemic going on around here called "Selective Memory Syndrome". It occurs whenever something happens in the life of the "little skinny motherfucker with the high voice" that doesn't bask him in a positive purple tinged light.

This is just awful and I feel bad for everyone involved, even the woman saying the hateful things, who probably needs help.

In general, I've never understood why people post so much personal stuff on Facebook and Twitter. I don't even have a Facebook account even though I obviously spend a lot of time on the internet. My wife has one, but we just use it to monitor what our friends are posting. These tools may be great for spreading democracy in the Middle East but they are not the place to work out your relationship problems.
