Just wondering, why did you listen to her interview then????? Why is there a need to be soooooo judgemental and criticial of her??? Is she hurting you by what she is saying?? Is she starting wars?? Your reaction to her is much more revealing about you. If one is truly happy with themselves, they do not come at others with such anger. Especially when those others are not aggressive and combative. Just saying. Leave Denise alone to be who she has become. We all should concentrate on ourselves, our families, communities, cities and countries... you get the picture.

LOL! Kellygirl, YOU'RE not making any sense. In an earlier post you said, "Have any of you actually listened to the interview?" as if people should listen to it first (which they should) before they make judgements, and now you're asking someone why they listened to the interview??? Um, the interview was posted for people to listen to and draw their own conclusions.

I don't think anyone is really hurt or offended by comments from a woman who's brain is fried from literally doing BRICKS of crack cocaine for over a decade. It's just interesting to realize just how hypocritical she is and how she contradicts herself.

I think I am making perfect sense!! If you find Denise Matthews such an irritating personality, then why would you specifically listen to her in an interview??? Hey , you are right to state your opinion as you see it. No problem. You just seem to have anger towards her specifically. You think she is a nut.... good for you. However, please remember that she is a woman that should have died and because she lived , gave her live to Jesus. No one knows how they would react in those circumstances!!!! She is a walking miracle. Not to you maybe.. I am sure that turning 30 has been a difficult process for you, especially if you are not where you want to be in life. Denise is where she wants to be. No disrespect, perhaps you are where you want to be also!! Be happy.

LMFAO!!! Just turned 30??? Sweetheart, you're assuming (and you know the saying about assuming) that I'm 30 and that my name is Diana because of my username, but truth is that my username Diana is for Diana Ross and the 80 part of it is because her album "diana" came out in '80! LOL! And what does where I'm at in my life have to do with Denise? You totally changed the subject. Just because someone gives their opinion on someone doesn't necessarily mean that they're angry; they're just pointing out their observations.

First of all, have any of you commenting actually listened to the interview???? Listen for yourselves people and them make an intelligent comment. I did. She does not hate the gays. Denise Matthews does not hate anyone. Denise wants to bring people to Jesus. She will not drag you there. I have met her, I am gay and she was nothing but sweet with me. Jesus does not hate on anyone. He is disappointed in how we treat are bodies and others. Whether you are gay , straight, bi.. whatever , you can choose to live a life in sin or one that follows Jesus. Denise is not searching for the next big thrill or rush anymore. She is at peace , she is at home. I hope we can all one day feel the same!!

Next time He talks to you, tell Him I said hi !

Why doesn't anyone want to admit that Denise could be mentally ill and could have been that way for most of her adult life? Is it because she's beautiful or because she became a born again christian? You can be both and still be unwell.

I'm glad she turned her life around and is functional but I've never felt that she was playing with a full deck even back in the day...the drug abuse also left some lasting effects mentally as well as physically. Being vulnerable, used and abused can do that to a person. I am not a doctor, but that is my observation.

Just like christians still make use of doctors when they are physically ill, I hope that she will seek the help of a good psychiatrist.

Agreed. I'll be one of the first to admit that I think Denise might be mentally ill. As you said, even when she first got started as Vanity she didn't seem to be playing with a full deck so add 10 years of drug abuse and your mind REALLY isn't going to be functioning well. Like you, I'm glad she turned her life around and if she says she's happy, then that's all that matters. But it seems almost like Denise is still punishing herself for things she did in the past. I don't believe that God put us here on earth simply to live in fear everyday of doing the wrong thing and do nothing but read the bible - for crying out loud, she said she even listens to the bible in her car! I believe God wants us to enjoy the world (obviously there are limits and you should be using common sense) and wants us to experience love with other humans (not sleeping around of course, but in committed relationships). She just contradicts herself so much. For example, she said she refuses to get another kidney transplant because she believes God will heal her, yet she still goes to the hospital and makes uses of doctors and surgeries. That's a contradiction. If she thinks God will heal her from having no kidneys, why doesn't she think that God can heal those other things that she got those other surgeries for??? She makes no sense.

Yep, I'll always be a fan of Vanity, but not of Denise. And that's OK with me. It's just fascinating to see the extreme differences.

* Running off to listen to "7th Heaven"...hey, maybe someone should remind Denise about this song. It talks about heaven and angels, so it's a religious song, isn't it? Maybe she can have the church choir sing it! lol

When I see her on some of those televangelist shows and read some exerpts from her book I can tell that her mind is all over the place, so I view her statements in that context.

Without mental health treatment I honestly don't think she's capable of doing any better.

Well said. I certainly would not argue that point. I suppose I just do not see the point with being verbally aggressive about it. Perhaps it is the choice of words that people have been using. I just don't see and need nor a point in using profanities . One can make a point without swearing every second word. My apologies Diana80 for getting petty and silly. Not my usually form.

Why are we assuming that Vanity/ Denise hates homosexuals?

To my knowledge there is a line that they read in AA that says "take what you like and leave the rest" to my knowledge the Bible has no such line.

So you either accept the Bible as a work of non-fiction or as a work of fiction and indeed written by God.

Denise chooses to believe it is a work of non-fiction. No harm done in that so far.

I have only read partway through the Bible so I am not sure about all that is said about sex, gay sex etc in it.

I do know it says that God does not answer the prayers of fornicators, the greedy or drunkards. I assume these folks won't be going to hell or living eternal in God's Kingdom on earth. Period.

Some of these people are some of the nicest, funniest people I have ever met who help little old ladies across the street and are kind to children and dogs etc. Unfortunately I have not yet read where there kindness was going to over ride their fate.

I have no clue what my final fate may be and I am VERY VERY thankful that I will not be asked to relieve Saint Peter at the Pearly Gates and be telling some "Welcome" and others "Go to Hell".

To assume that because Vanity accepts the fate of fornicators she hates them is probably very very far from the truth. They might be some of the closest people to her.

There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

I listened to the entire audio interview. Vanity says she loves everyone and she does not hate gays. She wants everyone to be where she is, to find, accept, believe and confess your life to Jesus.

She's not nuts. It's just that her style of talking is very fast and full of information, but she is pleading to people to accept the Lord. She wants people to have a personal relationship with Jesus and she is just sharing this with the world. Her whole life, mind and being is on Jesus and I don't see anything wrong with that. xoxoxoxox
