As far as Reel goes he clearly has no idea WTF he is talking about with R&B acts in the 70s and 80s. I attended many concerts - LTD, Pfunk, Commodores, EWF and a host of others - those were some glam ass costumes with some stack and high heels. "Word Up" video with Larry Blackmans oversized crotch piece? Obviously he has never heard of Little Richard either. Limited knowledge is not an excuse for the ignorance either cause he keeps making CLAIMS that are not based in fact and then he goes on to keep making stuff up about music acts of the period. Mods... I'm a huge Melvoin/Coleman family fan and I've traveled all over to support their efforts. However, if he is part of the live act, after seeing his homophobic insensitivity at play, well, I would have to not only boycott the show but ask my fellow LGBT members to do the same. Space for sale... | |

I'm sorry I started this nonsense.
Finally get folks to answer one of my posts and this is what happens. Just to clear the air: I DIDNT THINK JEROME WAS GAY. My wife did and she brought up some stuff that made me say "Hmmm." Knowing there are people here lucky enough to know some of these folks personally, I wanted to see if anyone knew for certain. Got a couple of "I know Jerome" answers and am happy with that. I love this site...some knowledgeable people...and the photos!!!

The bottom line is that sexuality is a complex issue. It is not black or white sexuality is a spectrum of activities ranging from pure fantasy to actual copulation, to emotionally being attracted to one sex, and only sexually being attracted to another etc. I think folks fail to realize how quickly and discretly a sexual encounter can be exercised. Folks seem to think that if you sleep with a memeber of the same sex that somehow a scarlet letter will appear on your clothing that is unwashable, or that the person that you slept with will automatically run to the tabloids and tell. People who choose their longterm sex partners (whatever the sexuality) generally have and idea of what type of person they are. With that being said, if you want to have a discrete sexual encounter with someone of the same sex and not worry about it really getting out, sleep with your Pastor, or Sleep with the President, or Sleep with someone who would be even more humiliated than yourself if it was learned about the encounter. Sex does not have to be "knock down drag out and lasting 'till dawn'. It actually can occur in a couple of seconds, or minutes. Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. That 80s rock band Poison was 10x more flashy and draggy than Prince. What about Annie Lennox dressing like a dude when she was a member of the Eurythmics? I watched an episode of Unsung featuring the Bar-Kays and they were surely draggalicous. The 70s/80s were a time of experimental fashion and the wilder your outfit the more attention you probably got. Prince wasn't the first to use clothes to boost his image and spark curiosity to help sell records and he won't be the last. | |
