Didn't know if anyone knew about Mayte's new gig on a new show called 'Dance Your Ass Off' on the Oxygen channel. She's one of the judge's on the show. It looks like a cross between 'The Biggest Loser' meets 'Dancing with the Stars', but the contestants aren't stars. It's a weight loss/dance competition. Anyway, it airs June 29th on Oxygen and here's the link:

I've seen the ads for this show, and thought it looked kinda dumb. But now that I found out that Mayte is one of the judges, I'm going to have to tune in and see what she says to the dancers. I'll be interested to see how she reacts to a dancer who has absolutely no talent.

I usuallydont watch shows like this but I do give it a whirl. I watch a couple episodes and IF it sparks my interest I keep watching if not....well time to find a good book or another channel.

I am w/ kok on this- I really feel she is showing strength and growing into her own self. She did marry P very young, and to have to deal w/ a huge celebrity at that young age; and, to lose a child while trying to learn how to live under a microscope w/ P... that would be tough for anyone.
I don't understand all the hate one hears for so many of the people P obviously loves, likes and respects. When anyone finds joy, knowledge, peace in the company of another that is a gift.
I was truly happy that P found someone whom he felt so much love & peace (for & with)- I recall an interview where he mentioned she was the female version of him or his female twin- basically soulmate because they were so much alike (dont recall the exact phrase he used but that was his point-soulmate/female companion/version of him).
I have heard how the death of a child leads to the separation of the parents in something like 80% of cases. Who knows if this is what happened w/ P & Mayte, but it was obvious they were very much in love at one point and it is a shame that didnt last for them. Maybe Mayte became more unlike P as she grew older and formed different ideas/views; and maybe P wanted someone who just did as he said no questions asked, and couldnt tolerate independent will/ideas, ...- who knows? Just sad to see their love end.

I think she's one of the most important artistic voices of the 20th century. I'm glad to see her back in the saddle.

A reason to watch Oxygen

I hope she doesn't judge them too harshly. I mean they are really big and can't be expected to dance and move as well as she does. I see a lot of injuries and calls for the ambulance happening. but anywayz, yay Mayte. Life after Prince aint so bad eh?

I was taken aback by Mayte's voice it seemed a little deep. I thought she had a higher, softer voice speaking voice.

Wasn't that Mayte's voice on "Shhh" wear the girl says "I love you"... and Prince replies 'yeah".

That voice was a woman with a deeper sounding voice... I always thought that was Mayte.

Then in her Bed Head commercial, I realize that her voice is deeper. Not a high pitch girly voice but a deeper richer sounding voice.

Woah, her voice IS very deep now. But that's cool though! I like strong female speaking tones (like Oprah, Alicia Keys, Angela Bassett, etc). Sounds MUCH better than that high, giggly voice Prince used to make her use on camera.

Did anyone watch the preview of this show on Oxygen last night? It showed the people who wanted to be contestants, as well as the judges. They mentioned that Mayte was the lead choreographer on some of Prince's videos, but they did not mention that she was, at one time, his wife. The show looks interesting, and I'm looking forward to tuning in every week to watch it.

Just got through watching this show - I like it. I enjoyed watching the dancing, and would love to have a choreographer who could teach me how to dance.

i watched the first 15 mins. of it.....i only watched that much because mayte is a judge on there. after that my husband changed the channel.

If you check out her reel, it's pretty good. She fits into the role of "tv cop" very well. That's a vehicle that would cool to watch her in consistently.
