I posted a comment about Liv on the thread in PM&M. I really do not think Bria has anything to worry about because Prince appears to have other interests in her, which might explain my own post. I pasted it below:

Never heard of [Liv Warfield] before now, but after listening to some of her songs and watching some clips on youtube, I would much rather hear her voice over the tracks on Bria's upcoming album. I just don't get how Prince can surround himself with talented singers like Shelby, Marva and Liv and relegate them to background duty while he wastes quality tracks and promotional dollars on mediocore singers like Bria Valente. [I remember feeling this way when he was promoting Carmen Electra while Rosie languished as a backup.] I know it's his prerogative to do whatever he wants with his music, but it all really seems like such a waste to me.

Wow so you think Bria's album is a waste of good music? Thats a really mean

spirited thing to say about someone. sad All these ladies are in the picture

right now working side by side with Prince, wonderful right? Do you think they

are complaining like this? I bet not. Its a beautiful world, more music and

more beautiful experiences to come why not enjoy it?? I dont believe Bria has

motives to take opportunities away from other singers, so why cut her down?

She has dreams just like everyone else, she has a voice, why can she not use

it?? Think about it.

Peace and love

Xtrafab, what is your problem? Who appointed you Bria's PR agent and/or protector? Where did I say that she had motives to take opportunities away from other singers? Please, point to where in my post I stated that? I do not know or even care what her motives are. I am simply stating my opinion that I think the tracks that I have heard backing her vocals could be better used with a more talented vocalist. I stated that I would rather hear Liv Warfield's vocals because I think they are better suited to the tracks. Again, this is MY OPINION! If you love Bria's vocals, then great, that is YOUR OPINION. We are both entitled to form and share our INDIVIDUAL OPINIONS.

So, how am I cutting her down? Her vocals are unremarkable to me. I did not say that they were bad or terrible. They are mediocore to me. Nothing about them jumps out and grabs me. I have heard voices like hers countless times in the current musical landscape. I never said that she could not use her voice. She is using it. She put it out there, and an artist has to accept that once her work is shared with the public, the public has a right to critique it.

Why you feel compelled to misinterpret or read things into my comments is beyond me. However, I am sick of seeing your posts on every thread where Bria's name is mentioned whenever someone voices disinterest or displeasure with the music they have heard from her. There is no hidden agenda on my part to cut her down. I love good music - plain and simple. I critique music from all kinds of artists in various genres. Some stuff I dig, some stuff I do not. There is nothing personal about it beyond my taste in music, i.e. what moves me and what does not.

I do think the tracks are a waste, but that is my opinion. It is not mean spirited, it is just an honest opinion. Over the years, I have seen Prince waste countless tracks on mediocre and/or talentless proteges from Vanity Six, Apollonia Six, Carmen Elektra, Mayte, T.C. Ellis, Tony M. and others. I concede that it is his music so he can do whatever he wants with it. However, I still have a right to my opinion. So as I said, with regard to the Bria tracks, I would probably enjoy the songs with a better vocalist singing them. As it stands now, I would much rather listen to the instrumentals. That said, I wish Bria and anyone else who chases their dreams success. I have no ill will toward her, I don't even know her! Regardless of my opinion, I do not have to buy her album for her to be successful, especially since you'll probably buy 1,000 copies. rolleyes
