The Family update (kinda) Hey fellow fans of The Family. I spoke with Paul Peterson at last weekend's Sheila E show in mpls. He said that he and Susannah were in the studio together last month and just completed three "VERY FUNKY" songs for the new project.

What do you prefer, Prince's music BEFORE or AFTER he became a vegetarian?
I have no further questions, Your Honour

Sounds good. If a man is guilty for what goes on in his mind then give me the electric chair for all my future crimes.

I'm interested in a new release by The Family, I'd like for it to happen, BUT let's face it their self-titled debut was 100% a Prince record with brass help from Eric Leeds and strings courtesy of Clare Fischer. Anything they do on their own now really has no relation to THE FAMILY. And its not like The Time where we knew they kicked ass live b/c The Family really never toured. the music knows what your motives are when you are making it
listen to The Replacements - its good for the soul

[Edited 7/21/08 12:13pm] Yeah, The Family release was basically a Prince album but it's not like it was a Vanity or Appolonia 6 project. These people are all talented musicians. Paul, Susannah, Jellybean and Eric are all capable of bringing that mpls funk to the table on their own. I've seen them all live with separate projects so I have no doubts they could kick ass together...although I wouldn't hold my breath on the hopes that they'll actually tour. We'll have to wait and see what they manage to pull off. [Edited 7/21/08 17:59pm]

[Edited 7/21/08 12:13pm] River Run Dry was a good song and P had nothing to do with that other than asking Claire for his input Has anyone seen my activator?

All I got to say is this - if Prince was still producer of The Family, the album woulda been out a year ago already!

He said the biggest issues is just finding time to record together. Here's hoping they find the time cause I really want to hear these tracks! Check out "Pop Goes the World" and "slow jump", now streaming at:

I could seriously die happy. Still plays in the sandbox at: http://www.girlbroslandia.org/
