Associated artist song of the day: "Sugar Walls" by Sheena Easton (1985) http://www.youtube.com/wa...vvrRCqMREw
Great song, but why is Sheena so stiff in the video? She needed a choreographer or something!

Now did Prince write that song as Jamie Starr or Alexander Nevermind? "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Alexander Nevermind At the time,he was pissed at Alexander O'Neal and this was his way of "geting back" at him

So, funny. I have been listening to a Prince-related CD that I made in my car for the past three days. I have been listening to Sugar Walls and Cool Love back-to-back. Yo Mister by Patti has gotten a lot of play on that CD this week too. Oh, and some of the Martika tunes. perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

When I first heard this jam on the radio and the DJ said "Sheena Easton", I thought he meant to say "Sheila E" because I couldn't see this being the same lady that did "Morning Train". Andy is a four letter word.

When I first heard this song on the radio, the DJ mistakenly said it was by Sheila E. I think Prince likes to confuse listeners. He probably enjoyed working with Sheena for this reason, lol. Sheila E....Sheena Easton

Where was this produced? I mean, is this Prince playing too?
I seem to remember this being on Bevis and Butthead once, when they commented "I like Prince - he always makes his women look like whores" "It's alright" 2.08 - nice!

He wrote and produced it and played all the instruments.I'm sure it was recorded at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles. I remember something that Black Beat magazine said about this song: We love the track, but we have to wonder....why didn't he give this groove to one of his own proteges, namely Apollonia 6,who aren't exactly burning up the charts?

He got into a bitter argument with Prince over money and Morris Day (the drummer) was given the job as lead singer.

Prince wasn't daft - he probably liked the song and knew if A6 did it, it would sink without a trace. Same reason he gave Manic Monday to the Bangles. (My apologies if your was ironic!)
