St. Paul: Rich Man and Can't Get Enough of You I dusted off my old cassette of St Paul's first solo record. Oh holy crap I forgot how stanky funky that record was. Sure, it's somewhat dated now, but the grooves are just the bomb.

Haven't listened to that LP for ages but I remember how much I liked it back in the late 80'ies. St.Paul was still riding on that Minneapolis sound even after he left the Prince camp.

My question - are any of those songs covers? Because the tune "Can't Get Enough Of You" is burned into my skull. Now, I remember listening to that tape over and over and over when I first got it, so, it COULD be burned because I listened to it so much, but I could swear that somebody else did that song. Do you know what I'm talking about? I'll try to somehow burn the cassette to mp3 and post a snippet - the song is the JAM. THE JAM. Both the songs you mentioned are Paul's own compositions. I feel like that about a number of his songs though! I think the beauty of some of that early stuff was that it was so 'catchy' without being derivative you really felt you MUST have heard it someplace else before! I agree. Good record. Especially back in the day. The CD says Monte Moir also co-wrote and co-produced "Can't Get Enough" and "tell Me". No question Paul has lots of talent.

Didn't think anyone else ever bumped it!
