Jill Jones

What about Jill Jones.....
her album was just divine, amazing vocals and haunting tracks (Violet blue) and a fantastic version of G-spot!!!
this album next to Ingrid chavez was one of my faves,
have nearly worn the vinyl out!!

what does every1 else think ?

Jill Jones indeed had a great first record on Prince's then label Paisley Park. Trax like *Violet Blue *4 Love "the duet" w/Prince, & a cover of Prince's *With U, etc...I felt she would stand the best chance out of all the other acts or "singers" (Good Question, Tony Lemans, Taja Sevelle) etc.. back then 2 B that break out artist that could appeal 2 a popular crowd. But it was not 2 B....Thats 2 bad cause her record then was very solid. Full of flava & songs that would have held there own on the radio~ She had alot more 2 offer in terms of singing talent then Vanity or Apollonia put 2gether~

I love her album too. Along with "The Family", it was my favorite album to come out of Paisley during that period.

~Violet Blue~ is an amazing song. smile I agree, Eroica. smile

Jill has been playing once a month here in NYC with this new band called "Supermassive" I've seen them twice and had the pleasure to talk to Jill after one of the shows.
Jill looks great now, sounds great. THe band is a very rockish sound, totally different than her PP debut album, but her voice shines thru. They are playing 2morrow night in fact at the Village Underground, but i'm gonna pass on the show as they are opening act, versus when they headlines some smaller clubs earlier this month

If you don't want to pay a ton of money, go to Winmx.com. It's a napster type share site where you can get a ton of free music. I found all of Jill's tracks including some others that she had done with Prince that were not on her first album: Girl Power, Flesh and Blood, My baby knows how to love me, Baby Cries Ay Yah, 77 bleeker St., plus extended versions of G-spot, for Love, and Mia Bocca.

If not, I'd be happy to burn you a copy, complete with lable, jackets and track listings.

Man that was an amazing album with Mia Boca, Violet Blue etc. Probably one of the most overlooked during that time, along with the Family album. If I can find it on CD I will pay a pretty penny. Ebay baby....its all there
