Given that the avatar function has been down for so long I'm going to assume that it's never actually coming back but on the off chance that it gets fixed can a notice be posted in here to inform us of its return?

It would prevent unnecessary threads by people asking why they can't upload a new avatar.

By the way, I'm aware of the irony of me creating a thread about the prevention of creating unnecessary threads.

I have been wondering the same. Surely it can't be that hard to figure out, with all the IT geek people there are in the world now. Maybe we could have a 60's style sit-in or something? Prince would like that...rage against the machine, ha.

Good morning children...take a look out your window, the world is falling...

I don't think it would be a hard thing to fix. My brother does that kind of thing for a living and reckons it would only take a couple of seconds to fix. I don't know the ins and outs of it but he's good with all that computer stuff so I believe him.

I think the problem is that the guy who's in charge of fixing these kinds of issues just couldn't be arsed. There's been loads of orgnotes sent his way but all have been ignored. So I've no doubt that it will remain a broken feature of the org. And I've made my peace with that.

However, I do think there should be some sort of warning put on the main page saying that the feature is broken so that anyone who may not be aware doesn't delete their avatar in order to upload a new one, only to find that it can't be done and they can't get their previous avatar back either.

You can delete the avatar right now. You just can't replace it. So you have to decide if you'd rather have no avatar, or an outdated one.
