A thread self-locks after a period of time where there has been no posting.

Other threads will be locked or removed by moderators in accordance with the Org rules to which we all sign up.

Some threads might be temporarily removed, for example, where there is some moderation required, before being restored.

If you have a question about a particular thread, then by all means contact a moderator.

Well freedom of speech is one thing. Just because people are free to say whatever they feel like doesn't mean they should. Freedom of speech vs freedom of expression. We have the right to state our opinions without fear of retribution from our government. But even the most liberal and democratic societies have laws against hate speech, obscenity, and defamation.
It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

Prince.org isn't the government, so there is no guarantee of freedom of speech. They're a privately-owned message board, and have the right to allow or disallow whatever they want. You're free to start your own message board, though, and let people run wild.

Lisa Coleman made some fun complimentary comments about Prince in 2011 and she later received a 'cease and desist' letter from Prince's direction...

And when has Prince actually displayed that. He's always had conversations on lock down.

When Threads Are HIDDEN -Please read

Addressing the Site Discussion community specifically

.

The question is constantly asked (and constantly answered), why was this or that thread REMOVED/DELETED; and people usually go into a questioning Mod/Org intentions or judging moderators/moderation. We hide threads when we receive a request of moderation by people taking part in the discussion(or sometimes people just watching the discussion)

.

We hide it so we get a chance to look into the issues, if it is not something that is really obvious and can be handled in 1 snip. Sometimes we need to/ask another mod to look at the issue for a 2nd opinion. We hide threads to stop people from possible or continually commenting on the post in question. Which of course, if we have to Snip things, that means we have to make notes, as well as locate and snip all post that replied to the offending post.

.

So I hope this solves the mystery of 'why was this or that thread removed'

This applies everywhere on the Org

Free Speech means you can not get arrested. Here the Free Speech belongs and is at the pleasure of Ben and the mods. This site is well run and give wide latitude as to what is allowed.

The harsh reality is if you want a message board that is totally free speech: make one. There are all kinds of cheap tools and message board programs (like V bulletin) and then the cost of the hosting is not that much.

I wish the OP would come back and get clarity.
But I'm glad this was brought up, because of all the people who think 'their rights' are being taken away from them on the Org...

Really? I would've like to seen the look on her face when she got that. Did she get pissed or did she just go with the flow?

Well, what is the pills thing that causes threads about P's death to be hidden?

Please enlighten us.

Please give Andy Allo her own sub-forum, I can't handle the flyonthewall threads always being at the top of the Prince music and more threads list. Yeah sure I could just not click on them OR, EVEN BETTER, if I could just not see them AT ALL cry

I know you're all with me, whether you admit it or not lol

Nope.

I do not know the circumstances or reasons for hiding the threads(!) with Prince's Death and pills etc as subject.

did you see the "When Threads Are HIDDEN -Please read" topic?

Whereas I would like to know why a topic was closed (that is was the subject deemed taboo or were there so many issues with individual posts or was it just so far off the rails). In the end, when it is closed we do not really have a right to and should not necessarily expect an explanation.

Yes, it did not provide me with any info on the specific circumstances that lead to the decision to hide the threads.

WTF!?

No 'right'?

They disrupt our communication.

So how can I avoid the next reason to do so when I do not know the reason of the first happening?

I think this is an odd -so far it is typically USA- situation and want to know more.

Please do think about that.

disrupting your communications? NOT!

If I was over at your house and I was yapping about something you just did not want to hear: would you ask me to stop or leave?

and NO you have ZERO right to get an explanation for any act the mods or Ben carry out.

As to their respect for free expression and different ideas: I prove they allow different opinions to be voiced.

Hiding new, empty threads needs an explanation.

Same for disruptions in previous thread.

I am not understanding why members cannot talk about "certain topics" & "certain words"? I have never seen this before in a group?

I read that you feel things get "out of hand" yet expression of speech is what and who we are, Right?

Maybe not everyone agrees or disagrees, yet all should respect no matter what?

Censorship it is.

Especially without explanation.

It is not that the 'Princes Death' therad was lacking posts.

And new stuff is coming out.

So why now?

Why no understandable public post? Why do we have to drag explanations from mods?

You eplained about the site being put on notice.

So this reasoning is divcersion too.

.

The thread was going fairly well.

New things were happening.

ANd we were discussing not necessarily conspiray things.

.

Why had my previous post to be censored?

This site, the mod behaviour, is not nice, not educative, not normal, etc.
