Is there a future for Prince.org? - do you want / need it around?

As time ticks by & we come to terms with this bloody awful loss do you believe that Ben & the gang will want to continue with the org & if so would you still continue to visit & be a part of the community? Do you need the org or similar top be around?

Would love the Mods/owners to chip in here! What are your plans guys?

I've been here before...truthfully left because of the obvious [!] came back when Prince passed because there was a definite need to be part of the community & share in our collective grief & saddness & sense of utter loss.

I've noticed that, as is always the case with any board/community that the nastiness is rising again & so I'll sadly go away again but dip in every so often.

Since april 21st I followed the Prince related news here, since information in the topics here is more condensed than twitter. But now most things surrounding Prince's death are more or less clear I am getting less interested in visiting.

The org will stay online, I think. But maybe in a stripped down version. There's not that much to talk about anymore. Maybe when the estate starts releasing new music this site will be a nice source of information, but other than that. Meh... It just isn't the same.

not for me, i came back here just because i needed a place to grieve the great genius. I can do without it anytime, too much negativity, always was. It'd be foolish to say it contributed in any way for how things turned out for Prince, but I'm sure he's had his feelings hurt over silly, trivial, irrelevant shit on here more than a few times. In other words, too many small minded people here, even with the outstanding, fine, intelligent posters, it's not worth it. Ya, I'm still angry at the clowns that baited me into getting booted off here a couple times. I hope they criticize themselves the same way they criticized prince, over petty, stupid shit. They can't escape from that.

I'm guessing all the people that just came here to be a part of something when he died will go away and the hardcore fans that still enjoy discussing Prince and his music will stick around.

Some will continue to be overly negative, some will continue to be overly positive and some will continue to have a balanced moderate view. Through it all, the org will survive.

I hope the org stays around for as long as possible. There may not be any more new Prince releases (well, until the inevitable remasters and vault stuff comes out) but luckily Prince left behind a massive back catalogue that we can discuss/argue about for a long time to come. Not to mention the other forums on here for other, non Prince related music, general discussion etc.

Are you kidding ? smile
We've only just begun celebrating this mans legacy.

I have also noticed an increase in nasty posts. I Was attacked so badly the other day people were sending me org notes saying they were sorry I was putting up with it. But it's not most posters.

I hope we can stay loving towards each other.

I feel with some of the bad/negative posting on the org there are equal if not more good/positive on Prince. I feel a site like this is needed right now and think this is the most organized site to get Prince news and to bond with fellow Prince fans and to debate the good and the bad of our musical genius.

I have checked Prince.org out for years, never joined just because it's was never my thing to do and post my thoughts. But now, it has helped me deal with the loss of Prince, as I have seen it help others too. I appreciate the hard work that comes with running a site like this, and I appreciate all the people taking their time to post. Even if I don't agree with something said about Prince at least we are talking about it and finding out people that have similar viewpoints, thoughts and ideas on Prince.

dude, it was overwhelmingly toxic. the only real redeeeming thing were the quality posters who obviously were just extremely bright people, the kind that I haven't seen in any other forum on any other subject I follow.

Yeah it will go on because I would say for most of us PRINCE is going to go on. NO there won't be new shows, but something will be new at some point in some way. BUT I am not going to abandon it. Someone asked will you buy associated acts still as they continue. I said WHY NOT? If I liked them enough to buy their record the first time I will get into what they do, or if I don't dig it I won't. I just saw Judith Hill LIVE 2 weeks ago and it was one of the best shows I had seen in awhile. I am going to see Andy Allo in the future and will most definitely be there whenever Shelia E rolls through or Fdeluxe since I saw them all before. 3rd eye girl if they decide to do anything or possibly Hannah in the future who knows, but I'm just not going to say, close the book I don't like these artists because Prince is not here.

I guess it's how you look at it and how thick skinned you are.

If someone is crossing the line and bullying, the mods will deal with it.

If someone is baiting or trolling, well, don't fall for it.

If someone's opinion differs from your own, debate them.

And stay the hell out of Non-Prince forums like religion or politics or movies or other music. Those threads get way out of hand.

Other than that, I don't see the problem. For every poster that annoys me there are many that I enjoy and that are very nice, like you hug . The org is a community and only as good or bad as we make it. I just don't agree that the bad outweighs the good. wink

i don't get upset with attacks that get personal, i was getting pissed with stupid shit about Prince. the last one, was where a guy said he didn't like prince glittering his eyelids, since he had a name that said he was gay, i told him "i thought you gay guys liked sparkles" and that was that. but, the point is, fucking glitters? you're going to rant about some fucking glitters on his eyes? how petty, how silly and how stupid. these are the kinds of people that make themselves miserable, repressed little cretins so really, i shouldn't say shit to them, their worst punishment is facing themselves every day. See, you can learn a lot about how a person feels about themselves by how they talk about other people. If people are bitter and nasty towards other people, often, not always, but often, it's just a reflection of what's going on in them.

I want to have someplace to go to talk about every new song I discover that I overlooked in the past. I want to have a place to go to discuss whatever may come up about him. I want to be around people that admired him. I want to wax poetic about him and not be judged. I want to be around the fans that understands his genius and show him love in every way. I'll just ignore that ones that are negative and mean spirited. I'll never let them chase me away from here. Never. So yea, I'll be sticking around and hope that Prince.org will live on.

You are absolutely right. So, it's their problem, don't let it be yours. Ignoring stupid threads & comments is often the best way to go.

I didn't know about that comment because I only read threads that are of interest to me and Prince's fashion is not included in my interests. wink

Hope you stick around Pete. This community needs sensible, nice people to balance those idiots out.

Zappa's been dead more than twenty years. His fan communities are going strong and these are the people who are documenting/preserving every aspect of his career. The fact that there's an evident fan community is a compelling reason for the Zappa Family Trust to keep releasing posthumous material, and Prince obviously has a huge back catalogue for that. There's an academic reason to keep Prince fansites going, as well as a social one. I can't geek out over Prince enough in my daily life so I come here to split hairs with suomynona over whether Tony M was a misunderstood genius or a complete trainwreck.

We need the .org to be here forever. This is the only place where I can find other fans to discuss Prince and his music. pout

.

Prince left us with SO much, it's not like we can ever run out of topics to discuss!

Since I've started coming on this site and posting about Prince on social media, nothing but annoying shit has been happening to me (like older men preying on me and using Prince as the excuse). I never really liked this site to begin with but I really felt like I needed to make an account and share my feelings with everyone and mourn together since Prince's passing. But in conclusion, this site does nothing positive for me, even expressing my feelings doesnt help because it's not like anyone really cares. I mean I'm not particularly close to anyone here although I'd love to be friends with a fellow Prince fan, but I guess it's just not in the stars for me. I try to make friends with Prince fans on social media but either they always end up having hidden motives or they just don't like me, so it doesn't happen. This site has always been negative and will continue to be. There's really no point in taking the shit anymore because the #1 orger doesn't exist anymore. Whatever happens in my life, I will always love Prince and hold him in a special place in my heart, but this site will never receive the same treatment. Nuh uh disbelief It was nice talking to the polite, respectful folks though. heart Thanks to all the people who actually love Prince and weren't dicks to anyone just to be dicks. As for the so called negativity on this site... It never really bothered me. Prince fans are notoriously hard to please. One person's gem is another person's turd. Even the Dark Prince of this site, the one who hasn't gotten his plus sign since Jehova-knows-when, the one whose temper is worse than Attila the Hun with a toothache, even he is knowledgeable and brings something to the discussion. So he is part of the club too, the org wouldn't be what it is without him. You know who I'm talking about, dontcha? Mr B... wink

There will be so much more Prince related news/happenings in the coming months and years ( the fate of his estate, ex-wives and band mates future books, interviews ect.) and this is a great place to come and talk about it all. Sure, there are some nasty people here, but that's gonna be everywhere. I find there are more good people on the Org than bad. So to the moderators: Please don't shut the org down. We still got a long way to go.
