Locking of threads without good reason

I believe this site limits freedom of speech
Why lock a thread without a good reason - just because a random person posts lock !!!

Really sad that this happens

So now I have to use my signature to express something I wanted to discuss with others.....

confused

I might as well tell you before the moderators do; It's still consider too soon for anyone to have a discussion about a possible conspiracy concerning Prince's death. Emotions among most Prince fans are still raw with sadness.

I highly recommend that you have the conspiracy related conversation here:

You are right - the site does limit freedom of speech, as per the site rules which all members accept before they are assigned posting rights.

I was trying to keep the conspiracy talks over at VC and clean out of prince.org. fishslap no no no!

Excuse you Schro, but if a few of our fellow orgers cannot discuss any potential conspiracy angles concerning Prince's death anyway outside of prince.org, where the hell can they go [beside orgnotes] to discuss it? Unlike you, some of us never take anything corporate news media said as absolute truth written in stone.

There's already a huge problem with people not using the stickies that have been provided. Folks are just spamming the forum with every thought that pops into their heads and duplicating the same topics.

I'd be grateful if more threads got closed and people more people are reminded to use the stickies. The mods have their hands full though.

Tony, I read the comments in the "What Happened To Prince?" article. Never in my life have I read such utter bullshit. If that's your idea of discussion, you need help.

I hope you read this before it gets snipped. That forum was absolutely, positively disgusting.

You should have orgnoted that link to anyone interested. So whatever parts of this post get snipped, mods please leave the following sentence intact:

Do not go to Vigilant Citizen unless you are prepared to read the most outlandish and offensive conspiracy theories you can possibly imagine.

Did you not read the opening post in my thread entitled, My apologies to all orgers and [especially] moderators? If you did, you would have seen the correction that I was not able to make in the VC: What Happened To Prince? thread due to fact that OldFriends had it locked before I had any chance at all.

Right HERE:
-----------

I was not allow to correct a bad typo that I made in an opening post of a previous [currently locked] thread in P&R. I was trying to say the following:

"I stand by my position that Prince's death was not a result of a revenge plot by the Neo-Illuminat/TPTB/whoever."

With that said, I give a public apology to all orgers & moderators for the misunderstanding on my part. sad

Did you not see THAT^?!? rolleyes

You don't what you're talking about. Vigilant/VC's articles is about occult symbolism and how it is used [mostly for evil] within the entertainment industry. But all of that is beside the point.

If TheOne or any of our fellow orgers wants to discuss possible conspiracy angles, they are better off having those discussions AND threads in the Vigilant Citizen Forums instead of prince.org forums.

The purpose of this thread, as stated at the start by the OP was to raise the question:

Why lock a thread without good reason?

Moderators lock threads in accordance with the Rules to which all members agreed.

Moderators do not lock threads 'without good reason'.

If a member is dissatisfied with particular moderation then, again in accordance with the Rules, they should contact that moderator privately and take it up with them.

The OP also stated that this site limits freedom of speech and I have already made clear that such a statement is correct and all members agree to the content they choose to publish being moderated in accordance with the Rules.

As also pointed out above, if people do not agree with that approach, they can use alternative channels of discussion at their disposal.

Just to concur with my fellow mods - and I told the OP the same in an orgnote - you do not have freedom of speech. It doesn't apply. This is a private forum, with rules that everyone must adhere to.

The term "freedom of speech" doesn't even mean you have the right to say whatever the hell you want without there being any consequences. It means the government can't censor you. You wouldn't go out into the world, start spewing all kinds of racism/sexism/homophobia/ignorance/stupidity and then start crying about "freedom of speech" when someone calls you out on it.

Just to be clear.

It's best to use some sensitivity at this time. If your topic is about stuff that is going to upset people at this time? Don't post it.

I just want to add a couple of things....

Asking a question regarding his death is not insensitive - i was not rude and did not insult anyone

I just wanted to discuss his death because like many others I want to ask fellow fans what they thought.... I'm sick of all the bs I read in papers and on line - really very sick of it - so I believed the org would be more enlightening

How many petsonalities and stars have died in the past??? But straight away the world knows the cause of death.....

This is Prince and we don't know yet - dont you think that's odd???

I'm grieving too just like everyone else
And I miss him so much
I had the same connection with Prince as many others
And I want to be albe to discuss his death because I believe knowing what happened to him will help, not just me but many others

You had 2 orgers winging like they normally do and the thread was deleted - what about the others who were interested in the discussions???

1. I have already explained that moderation is undertaken in accordance with the rules.

2. A thread is not 'deleted' because of "2 orgers winging like they normally do".

3. If you disagree with specific moderation, please take it up privately with the moderators.

@moderators......One of these days, THAT^ is going to be an issue that no Prince fans [orger or mod] is going to be able to runaway and hide from anymore. The mystery behind Prince's death is already on that level as Elvis Presley's, John Lennon's, 2pac's, Michael Jackson's, & Whitney Houston's deaths before him. neutral

Sorry tony but I have to side with the mods on this.

Again, the problem is too many people are running around in a feeding frenzy, compulsively making redundant threads instead of using the stickies. There is already a sticky for most of the topics being discussed but for some reason everybody feels like they need to start their own individual thread for every little thought that comes into their head.

It's making the forum a big mess and making is exremely difficult for the moderators to keep things orderly and appropriate.

How about because some orgers are not allow to mentions those "thoughts" in those thread. Excuse you, but what's the point of having an autopsy thread as a sticky if no one is allow to mention [in fact or theory] how Prince may had die?

I agree and this is why the Prince forum needs heavy moderation, not the other forums. The
Prince forum needs only stickies threads, nothing else. In return, the other sites should have
temporary moderators.

For some of us, although we are saddened by Prince's death, the sun still rises and sets for us
but never sets on Prince's music.

A 5 minute read of the forum will show that that is categorically not the case.

Tabloid bullshit, however, will likely be snipped. As will anything that garners a lot of reports.

Tabloid bullshit is one thing (even though TMZ is the agency that broke Prince's death and pretty
much unearthed his airplane emergency), but that which "garners a lot of reports" is another. I
often have a contrarian view but I have refrained from posting out of respect to the Org community
because I know a lot of people are very upset. But those who do post unpopular material should
be protected from any hyper-sensitivity in the Org even if others find such posts offensive.

I heartily disagree.

If anyone wants to post something - anything - they need to be prepared that others are going to disagree. I am forever amused at people that post "tripe" about Illuminati conpsiracies and then get their panties in a wad when someone says that's ridiculous.

My faith and I get called all sorts of names in P&R but that doesn't upset me in the least. It's all part of a free society.

Why those who believe in things like blood scarifices get all pissy when someone disagrees tells me they know in their heart that there are no such things as blood sacrifices, or Goat People, or hand signs that can affect someone hundreds of miles away.

Bullshit.

If anyone wants to post something - anything - they need to be prepared that others are going to disagree. I am forever amused at people that post shit about Illuminati conpsiracies and then get their panties in a wad when someone says that's ridiculous.

Whoa, mate; calm down. Just as much as you find Illuminati conspiracists to be annoying, others
have a right to believe that your doubt concerning such matters is just as annoying. As you state
ironically in your own post, when it comes to posting or stating an opinion that makes others upset:
"it's all part of a free society" that champions freedom of speech.

So, the people in the Prince forum who are posting things that may be offensive to others have a
right to post those things as "part of a free society." Yet, this Org is not free as we all agreed to
follow its rules! Again, all I'm suggesting is that those who are speculative in the Prince forum who
are posting material that upsets other people should be allowed to do so, if it is done in a manner
that is cordial. This is not bullshit: this is protecting people's rights to offer a point of view that
is not popular, even if it makes people mad or upset. And right now, it appears that there are a
lot of people in the Org who are justifiably upset and sad, but there could be a bit of hyper-sensi-
tivity going on as well.

Go read the sticky again, tony....people aren't being prevented from saying what they think happened but on the other hand people have literally run amok with spamming the forum. The only thing that was asked on the sticky is not to post any autopsy pics that might leak and not to bash Prince's friends and family.

Did you get snipped or something?

What I'm talking about is people posting threads about what a bitch their mother is, somebody started another thread about the will when there was already a thread, a bazillion threads about the vault, who is getting alimony, a thread asking for pics of his remains being removed from PP, was purple really his favorite color, just to name a few examples of the fuckery. lol

It would help tremendously if they would stop starting new threads when the topic already exists.

I think the mods have acutally been a lot more tolerant than I would be. People are so desperate to say something/anything that they're not thinking about how difficult they are making it for the mods and others to wade through everything, not to mention if any bereaved family or friends read the forum.

The mods probably have jobs, homes, families, etc. and can't babysit this place 24/7
