Is it wrong for moderators to post a vile comment then lock a thread?

Why is it okay for moderators to just arbitarily lock a thread that hasn't violated any rules at all?

And yet people resent being accused of abuse of power.

Each and every time people attempt to bring greivances to light the thread ends up either locked or disappeared according to someone's whims and moods without any resolution or closure whatsoever.

This is the forum to discuss general issues. Orgnotes are intended to address specifics or personal issues.

Simply put, it's using one's authority to ensure having the last word.

When a moderator locks a thread they will sometimes post an explanation in the thread itself and / or notify the original poster of the decision.

If you have a specific example regarding a thread, then you take it up in org note with the moderator and then, if you consider your issue is unresolved, refer to the site owner.

The only two threads locked on the first page of P&R are Graycap's thread about Jane Elliot, which he requested to be locked, and your thread about some guy's wedding proposal.

If a mod makes the decision to lock the thread then the Org would certainly expect an explanation why and frankly, I don't see "bait" as a vile comment.
