8/31 Chicago Nation Party @ The Berlin - Thank You's!

There were rumors that this month's Chicago Nation Party at the Berlin Night Club celebrating the release of the Live at the Aladdin DVD was gonna be off the chain, so my expectations were high! But never in my wildest dreams did I ever believe my expectations would be surpassed the way they were last night!! The 8/31/03 Chicago Nation Party at the Berlin Night Club was a party of Epic Proportions! When "Babydancer" rang my cell and said, "DAMN, it's wall to wall up in this piece!", I knew something was up!! I couldn't even find a parking spot near the club... I have never had that problem before!!

I don't think I have EVER been to a set that live!!! The club was PACKED JOINT TO JOINT early and stayed that way until the last jam was played at approximately 3:45 this morning!!! Filing out of the club, everybody agreed that we needed an AFTERPARTY to go to!! Samnation did the most phenomenal job of DJ'ing that I can recall in recent memory! And when he played the 1+1+1+3/Love Rollercoaster/Housequake portion of the dvd, the place went wild!! All the Purpleheads in the house showed me some mad love for being prominently featured during that medley! The out-of-towners were all OVA the place and newbies were also in the house, as well as all the longtime Berlin regulars!! Some transplanted regulars even came back... Jason, it was great having you home again, man! You are my BOY!!!

I just wanna thank EVERYONE who came out and took a bite of the Purple Rock last night at Berlin!! Much love especially to Tim from Cincinnati, KDowney from AZ, "Prince Lover" from Cali, John in WI (thanks for the drinks, man!), "Younca" and my peeps who came from NYC!!! Big props to all the NPGMC Conference Roomers (Bootyfunk, Maiya, EC), all the regular heads, Marcus, Nikki, Dre', Julian, Motley, Dawn, Bianca, Sammy... y'all know who you are!

And very special love to my crew who partied down to the ground - Roxy, April, Ree-Ree "Biff" & my cuz, Romie!

the purple party was off the hook, its been along time since that place had wall to wall until it closed at 4am and people were still geeked up and wanted more, and as the ring leader in that joint i wanted more too LOL thats right U know i am! and hopefully the next one will be great too! mad love to sam for a great job and all the purple party people! peace

Redz, We had a party here in NYC too and it was off the hook. The MJ vs. Prince semi-annual party was hot. Me, Utopia7, NuPwrSoul and Zeinabau danced til 3:55am when "Adore" ended the last Prince set. Can u say sweat?

what can i say...it was off the chain... i am glad it was a great success... it was my 2nd time bein there and it was so packed that i missed half the peeps that were comin in... i hope all had a good time... i luv the city and it was great to be back there again...the time just goes by to fast... i luv bein with the chitown P fam they are great...u all keep me there in spirit next time till i can be there again...

It was great to meet KDowney and a pleasure as always to bask in the fabulousness of Julian and RedZRyder, and it was a treat meeting new folks like RoseDawn and the young woman we met who came all the way from North Carolina to play with us (I know you're both lurking...come out, come out, wherever you are!!!)...of course, having TheBlueAngel in the house was a true delight, and I couldn't imagine showing up at Berlin without Stymie and Youngca being there - it would simply be unnatural.

Oh, and the music wasn't half bad either...as what's left of my hideously sore legs can attest. What the hell, it was worth it...!

I think this was the first time I've closed a bar since moving to Chicago two and a half years ago, and the craziest part of it was, it was still packed when the lights came up!

Ooops, I gotcha backwards...you're Dawnrose, not RoseDawn! I think I musta had Sesame Street on the brain when I wrote my post this morning, and was foolishly thinking of Prairie Dawn...who isn't half as cool as you, but hey, she's purple!

Damn!!! Me and some friends have wanted to come party there for sooo long, but we're only 19. We haven't even bothered to try and get in. Does anyone think they would let us??? (By the way, we all look at least 23)
