Justin Timberlake To Host Album Listening Session – At Prince’s Paisley Park Home February 1st

prince-justin-timberlake-tgj-600x600.jpg

All roads lead to Super Bowl week for Halftime headliner Justin Timberlake.

Beyond the high-profile gig, the Pop titan will also be releasing his fourth solo album ‘Man Of The Woods’ during said frame.

And it’s clear, he’s keen to launch the LP in a major way.

So much so that he’s secured the residence of late legend Prince for a super exclusive listening session.

Full story below…

According to Star Tribune, JT will host the first playback for his project at the Purple one’s home – Paisley Park – in partnership with American Express.

Situated in Minneapolis (the location of this year’s Super Bowl), the iconic residence will play host to the session on February 1st – a day before the album arrives at retail. And three days before the Halftime Show.

Tickets, which were priced at $80, disappeared almost as fast as they went on sale – despite arriving as a surprise for AmEx cardholders.

It’s expected that the presentation will take place at Paisley Park’s famed Soundstage, which can accommodate 1,800 and regular played host to Prince’s jam session for fans.

It's a good idea to hold the listening party there. I'm sure a lot of people on here will take issue with the fact that Justin Timberlake is even setting foot inside Paisley Park though.

Personally, I'm not a JT fan but he's got some really good songs and if I lived in America I'd like to attend.

It could be much much worse. Just be thankful it's not Justin Bieber. If you consider that Justin Timberlake is a big Prince fan, he must get a big kick out of holding an event at Paisley Park. Could any one of us claim not to want to perform there? As a Prince fan, it's a dream come true.

I've never understood the contempt for Timberlake from some people on here. Not liking his music is one thing but some of the things I've read on here are borderline racist and there's no need for it.

Justin is a huge prince fan and there’s a strong connection. John Blackwell and mike Scott both played in Justin’s band. Im totally cool with it & belive he will be extremely respectful, the interlude at the end of the first track of the album reminds me of the symbol album.

If one artist needs to do it, then JT is one of the few I would like 2 c in PP. Thank GOD it's not Bieber.
A feeling of self-worth will caress U,
The size of the whole wide world will decrease,
The love of God's creation will undress U,
And time spent alone my friend, will cease.

JT couldve done that anywhere he wanted and he chose Paisley. that is one hell of a tribute. Wish i could be there. Haters are stupid. This is mad respect. If it helps young JT fans to dig into Prince, even better.

The more I think about it, the more disgusted I am by it.

What a total sellout / lame move to do this at Paisley Park.

IMO, it is completely disrespectful to have this pop tart who just bit on Prince's & Michael Jackson's concepts.. then watered them down for teenage girls and wants to be taken seriously.

What a joke.

They better burn some sage at PP before the Celebration and get rid of the polluted spirit this is going to bring.

Utterly disappointed.

He only started talking about Prince was a major influence on his music after he screwed over Janet Jackson and couldn't leech off Michael's legacy anymore. rolleyes

I remember when he was promoting his FutureSexLoveSound album and he was saying that it was heavily inspired by Prince, who he'd always been a big fan of. And you can definitely hear it on some of his songs. I don't know if Justin Timberlake liked Prince as a person but you can't deny that he is a genuine fan of his music. So what if he made fun of him? It doesn't make him less of a fan of Prince's music.

He's no Prince but he's hardly what I'd call talentless. He can sing, at least. And he sings live which is more than can be said for a lot of his contemporaries.

Uhhh and he can Dance!!! Pretty good actor too.
I would rather someone of his popularity seek out the use of PP,
Than any old hotel ballroom. He knows what being in PP means.
And for whatever past mistake he has made this one is legacy building, imo. So good on him.

It'll put Prince in the minds of Justin Timberlake fans, of which there are many. I see it as a win.

I swear, some people are simply nuts. Why diss on Timberlake? As current talent goes, he is higher up the pecking order than many I can think of. I couldnt care less anyway. I just want music from the vault and if exposing fans of other artists and one-hit wonders is the key to getting more exposure and more music sales, then so be it. Bring 'em on. Bieber? Go for it. Katy Perry? Yup. One Direction? Awesome. If just 1% of their collective current fanbase took to purchasing a Prince album the estate would be solvent enough to release vault stuff for years to come. And ultimately, thats all I care about.

Personally, whatever years I have remaining in this life, I would like the vast majority of them to be filled with Prince music that my ears have yet to hear. And if making PP a totally commercial entity that plays host to the great untalented is a means to that end, then so be it. Rather that than have Prince's legacy die with his fans because we were too sanctimoniuos and stubborn headed to allow the rest of the world in.

this event doesn't even have the essence of Prince. It's all about JT and promoting his music while "renting" PP.

If this were a listening party at PP by Prince....it would of been either promoting a protege, associate or an upcoming artist
