New PP tour: The Ultimate Experience

I did the VIP tour which I enjoyed very much. I’ll be curious to know if the additions are worth the extra $60. The VIP tours must be doing OK then otherwise I can’t see why they’d add an even more expensive option.

I like that they are doing different things here and there. I don't like that The Ultimate Experience is only being offered on Mondays. I also see that they are only going to be doing Paisley Park After Dark every other Saturday now.

I'm going, but not until Labor Day. I'll report back if anyone else hasn't.

Thank you.

I'll be going to Paisley Park myself a week after Labor Day.

Since this will be my first and – most likely – only time I'll ever visit PP, I decided to book the Ultimate Eperience tour because tickets were already going fast. I hope you'll enjoy the tour ! (And I'm still looking forward to hearing what you thought about it smile )

I did the Ultimate Experience tour yesterday. It is pretty much the same as the VIP tour, except you get to spend more time in the different areas.

-

In the video editing suite, they play more clips of unreleased videos. A lot of Musicology stuff, i.e. rehearsal, backstage, and concert footage. They also played a clip from a 3RDEYEGIRL show in Manchester of Something In The Water (Does Not Compute). It was the full clip, not the edit that is on YouTube.

-

Next up was Studio B. We got to go in the control room and they played a couple songs. Cool from The Time from Celebration and The Breakdown. The Breakdown was cool. They said they had one of the engineers strip the song down, so you can hear all the layered vocals.

-

On to Studio A, same as the regular tours. No control room access. They have added the guitar from the Why You Wanna Tread Me So Bad video. Next up Studio C. We got to go into the actual room and see the lounge for Studio C. It was pretty underwhelming after being in Studios A and B. I had never seen the lounge for Studio C. The guitar Wendy is playing in the Raspberry Beret video is hanging in Studio C. They said Prince did a lot of writing in that studio.

-

The Purple Rain and Graffiti Bridge rooms are the same. They have added the orginal bass cloud in the Purple Rain room.

-

They still had the chairs set up in the soundstage from the Musicology event, but otherwise it was the same. In the Love4OneAnother/NPGMC room we were given the opportunity to hold the purple acoustic guitar from the Musicology tour. They also had one of his canes out that was bejeweled with purple stones and some handwritten lyrics that I didn't recognize the song.

-

The have their 2 best tour guides doing this tour and it's only done twice on Mondays. I was told they were going to put the white Thunderbird in the Under The Cherry Moon/Graffiti Bridge room, but they couldn't get the doors open in the garage to get it out. The guide wasn't sure if the new guitar from Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad and the cloud bass guitar would remain on the tour, or if they were just part of the Musicology event tour.

-

Tyka's son told me they wanted to do something for the 30th anniversary of Paisley Park being open, but wasn't 100% certain of any details. I was told there are going to be some changes done this week, so hopefully that means other new things coming. It will be interesting to see what is being taken to the O2 and what's left behind.

Thank you for your review. Sounds like you've taken both the VIP and the UE...do you think the UE is worth the extra cash?

I have done them all. I do think it's worth the extra cash. I've been in the control rooms before, but being able to go in the control rooms of Studio B and C makes it worth it to me. You don't get to do that on the other tours.
