What are the " must see" Princely sites in MN?

I'm on a tight budget but scrounging to travel from Western NY to MN in late July with several friends for 4 days..Besides P.P.and the Purple Rain house..What other sites should we visit? We are driving so will have access to travel from Minneapolis to Chanhassen easily.
Decent & Reasonable Hotels? (I know many from the purple family were just there last month)
Cheap Eats?
TY so much..This trip is on the top of my bucket list..Due to some physical ailments I feel like I need to get there soon as I have trouble breathing (COPD) and am going to end up on oxygen full time soon.

Hey,

I'm staying at the Minneapolis hostel for my upcoming trip in June. Though I can't give you a review just yet, but for a week stay I paid about $250. Of course, hostels are not for everybody-it means shared quarters and bathroom. I stay at hostels whenever I travel and have never had any problems. I'd rather spend the $ I save on fun stuff for my trip! You can check it out here:

Have great trip!

Just got back from Minneapolis. Here are my thoughts:

1. Of COURSE Paisley Park is number one on the list. Go VIP if at all possible. You won't be sorry. And go VIP on Thursdays if you can. For some reason, only on Thursdays do you get to record a snippet of a song. To top it off, you get to use Prince's microphone. You don't get the opportunity to record any other day of the week, so go VIP Thursday if you can. VIP tours cost $100 but it's money you should put at the top of the list, no matter what day of the week you go

2. Definitely see the "Purple Rain" house. I had no interest in seeing it, but some friends drove us there on the way to dropping us off at The Electric Fetus (more on that in a sec). It was VERY cool. The house is unlived in, but fans put stuff around it. There were purple roses on the ground in front of the hedges. Someone had wrapped up a box of Raisenetts. Captain Crunch and Doritos and left if on the doorstep. I am very glad we got to see it! It's free.

3. Definitely go to The Electric Fetus. Not only was it Prince's favorite record store, but it caters to Prince fans. Tons of t-shirts, pins, books, etc. Their "Wrecka Stow Day" t-shirt is THE coolest Prince t-shirt I know of. It's free to get in, but you'll spend some money when you get there. BTW, they carry bootlegs but not any Prince bootlegs (that I could find!). I checked the Springsteen album section and there were boots in it

4. First Avenue is free, too - at least, outside. Prince's star is right by the front door so you may want to go during the day, when there's not a crowd. There's an art project in Minneapolis whereby pianos have been placed around the city, free for anyone to play. There's a Prince-themed piano right next to his star. Bang out a few bars of your favorite song if you want!

5. Prince mural/Music Note wall - Both are free. It's easy to take a picture in front of the mural. You have to find some empty parking spaces to get a good pic in front of the Music Note wall but we had no problem

6. I sat next to a man on the flight home who said they went to see Prince's boyhood home. Apparently Tyka lives across the street and she came out and talked with this fellow for over an hour. No ground-breaking news, but he said she was very nice. So maybe if you go there, you'll meet her too!

We stayed in downtown Minneapolis because that's where most of the stuff we were doing was (excluding Paisley Park, of course). We stayed at the Millenium Minneapolis for about $125/night through Booking.com. If you're splitting that with 2 or 3 people, that's not bad. It was the least expensive downtown hotel we could find, but I'm sure there are cheaper hotels on the outskirts of town. Since you have your own car, that might be better. We didn't have a car, so we walked or Ubered everywhere we went.

Have a safe trip and I pray for restoration of your health!
