Prince at De Kunsthal in Rotterdam

Have searched the topics but couldn't find anything on this subject.

The Kunsthal in Rotterdam is hosting an exposition on Prince from May until September. They are going to show the phenomenon Prince through the eyes of his fans. They will focus on personal memories fans have of the shows he gave at Rotterdam Ahoy and stadium De Kuip.

Use this link for more info (in Dutch):

Do you mean Paisley Park will be involved in this? Items, merchandise and so on? Or am I just "slow" and have I seen too much sun today? wink

Me too! Rotterdam is my hometown. In a way it feels like the old days. Walking from my house to Ahoy and see the man perform. I wonder what they will make of it.

I don't live in Rotterdam, but every time I walk through the Central Station I still think of going to Ahoy to see him. Yeah, like the old days! biggrin

Yep, me too. And some strange force probably will make me go more, if it's a nice exposition.

Desperate is a big word, but i'm pretty disappointed if we can't go.

Many thanks in advance!!!

Last night, there was an impression of the exhibition on Dutch TV (RTL Late Night on RTL4).
They had some items in the TV studio such as a copy of the Black Album, a Lois Lane T-shirt that Prince wore during one of the Nude Tour gigs and a black and white polkadot pochet from the 1987/-88 era. Was nice.

Thanks for the mention Rob. Totally missed it, but I wil try to find it online. Shouldn't be a big problem, I guess.

Anyone perhaps know if it is possible to go to the exhibition without attending those Special Tours today? I can't wait to go, but completely missed out on those Special Tours tickets.

Thanks in advance!!

I just got back from the exhibition. It was great!! They had some really special items that people collected and/or were gifted throughout the years. The guys who organised it did an EXCELLENT job. I took a guided tour led by one of the organisers and he had a lot of interesting info on items that are shown.

I also had really nice chats with some of the other fans/fams there. It was great to share memories and thoughts and that was almost as good as the exhibition itself. In case there was ever any doubt: people feel sooooo much love for Prince. All that sh*t that's going around will pass soon enough. His legacy will remain.

I've been to the exhibition too today. After all it was also possible to visit without a guided tour. Have briefly been chatting with one of the organizers and complimented him with the exhibition. It's from the same guys who did the exhition in November at "De Platenbeurs". It's a small exhibition (allthough bigger then in Utrecht) but it's very nice. When I walked in, seeing all the items, pictures and all those people, it grabbed me by the throat.

The photographer Rob Verhulst was also there and bought some books. I told him that one of his photos was a favourit of mine and he told me he was planning on doing things with his photos. What that would be, he didn't mention.

All in all a great afternoon, with a party at the end with a dj spinning Prince tunes that got people dancing. And there we ran into our good friend André from New York, who happened to be there too.

And as mentioned by CandyCool, they have some nice things in the shop. Some books, postcards, DVD, cd's, records and a concertposter for the 1986 shows at Ahoy Rotterdam. I bought myself the book about Prince in Holland and I have to say it's a nice book.

I promised to also go with a friend of mine, so I will have to go again, and I am looking forward to it.

Me and WhatevaULike also went yesterday. Had a blast at the 1 'oclock tour, with one of the guys who personally brought in some stuff for the exhibit. Like the actual licence-plate from the car Prince drove in Under the Cherry Moon! The exhibit is not too elaborate, and very focussed on Prince in the Netherlands. But for me a really cool blast from the past, reminiscing a lot of the good vibes I have from all the concerts I went to.

Heard many an interesting story, most of them I kinda knew. Still some awesome stuff on display.

Now, I'm feeling sore; these ole folks are not custom to dancing an hour or two to Prince tunes biggrin

But the DJ had an awesome set, mixing all kinds of old, new & bootleg stuff seemlessly together, even fooling around with some loops made on the spot.

You don't scare me; i got kids
