Plan to visit PP again, any changes?

I visited Paisley Park on opening day as a museum last year for the first time. It was kind of unorganized and hectic. I plan to go again this year and was wondering if anything has changed. Any new exhibits? Any access changes to certain areas or rooms? I know photos are not allowed but I wish a photo book was offered for sale there. It's hard to remember everything you see, not easy with a moving tour to examine and read everything there.

They have moved the urn. It is now up on a frosted display case on the wall, but still in the atrium. One of the doves died. They have 2 new ones now, so there are 3. The Lovesexy room just opened last week. See here...http://prince.org/msg/2/440431. They have Prince's Prowler and Bentley in the soundstage now. They had an orange cloud guitar in the SOTT room when it opened, but they replaced it with the acoustic guitar with the heart shaped mirror, since the SOTT cloud was peach. In the Diamonds and Pearls room they had the yellow outift, but they got rid of the pants and added a purple jacket with yellow buttons like the one that was in there with a yellow jacket and purple buttons. They put up the big prince that was used in the Rave Un2 The Year 2000 concert. It is in a corner of the soundstage. They are releasing 3 books for Celebration and one of them says something like "Exhibition Series", so I'm hoping that one has pictures of everything that is on display right now.

Hope it's true

The new Lovesexy room is impressive. Lots of clothes (even some...sweat soaked ones).

Also, the purple and gold European-made guitar that Prince showed at Paisley Park in April 2016 was moved. It was no longer with the Purple Yamaha piano as of last weekend. I was told that it was moved to a showcase near the Atrium but I didnt recall seeing it there. I hope it returns to the soundstage soon because it is a stunning instrument.

There are also monitors playing videos in almost all of the exhibition areas now. So in the galaxy room, they show Oprahs interview with Prince when he takes her in that room and explains the room. In Studio A (?) they now play a short video of Prince jamming with Larry G. The Musicology rehearsal footage in the video editing room now includes under the stage footage. I also noticed that the video being played in the soundstage now includes a longer version of Prince performing 'Free Urself' from January 2016 at Paisley Park. They may change the videos in the future though.

Oh and people can park on site now instead of catching the bus at the purple Prince mural.

Overall, the tour seems more 'put together' and more complete than it did in 2016.

I'm still waiting for the superbowl suit, hall of fame suit/pumps, raspberry beret suit, italian vogue outfit, and that bejeweled love symbol cane to show up in the Paisley Park rotations. All of those items were at the Mall last year.

The HOF suit and Raspberry Beret suit were both on show during the celebration. (in one of the studios from memory!)

The cars weren't though, they need to get a whole lot more stuff out imo. It's a bit sparse.

There is a "Black Album" room about to open too, not sure what will be on show in there though.

They said there won't be a Black Album room, although it is painted on the door. There was a lot more stuff prior to Celebration. They moved a lot of it out for space I suppose.

I hope they bring the cool stuff back in soon. Theres still a lot of empty space in the soundstage. The only other issue I have is the giftshop. I thought new merchandise ideas would have been implemented by now... But no, the giftshop is still just tshirts, books, posters, beanies, and coffee mugs. I'm really looking forward to purchasing dvds, cds, and other media there in the future.

Yep, our tour guide told us that too about the Black Album room. I just hope PP lets us know when they change something major. I wonder how they are controlling what items rotate in and out. Theres got to be more cars, motorcycles, and clothes to bring out and what about the cool stuff on the 2nd floor? It seems that Prince kept everything, even old beat up Mead lined notebooks from the 1970s. I'd even like to see the arcade games that used to be where the Pegasus piano is now located.

That HOF suit is still one of my all time favorites; when I saw it up close, I couldnt get over the fact that the pinstripes on the pumps lined up PERFECTLY with the pinstrips on the slacks.

Our tour guide said it would be opening in May

Starlit

For over 30 years I thought about visiting Minneapolis. and never did... (huge regrets)

Now I'm thinking of going to visit Paisley Park in June. However, I keep reading about things that are still being added, changed.. I'm just wondering now if I should wait some more. (Since I live in Europe, this will most probably be a once-in-a-lifetime visit, so I prefer to wait for the right moment wink )

I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

I'm sure they will be changing and adding things as long as it is a museum. It is still pretty much the same as it was when they opened in October. They added a Lovesexy room and 2 cars in the soundstage since, but mostly it is the same. I wouldn't wait for an event, since they seemed to pull a lot of stuff out for Celebration to make room for all the people attending. It's not normally that crowded. The only change that I can see them making now, is swapping out clothes, instruments, etc. for different ones.

The extras are Studio B and the Video Editing Suite. If you only plan on coming once, then I'd say yes.

I think they serve food all day! Ours was out in the tent where all the souviners are. You could order off the menu anything you wanted! Coconut curry was my favorite! Spicy! I had the sampler plate, I think it was $12-somethin? Got the curry, a lettuce thing, and a few other items. I tried to make it at home a few months later .....definitely wasn't the same!

Sitting in the merchandise/food tent right now. Just finished my VIP tour.

Thank you everyone for recommending I go on it. It was really amazing!

The kitchen isn't open (it's 2pm) so they're just serving a couple wraps and salads from a fridge and cookies.

George Lopez is taking a private tour that we keep
bumping into!

We didn't have really any food either. Like 3 things to choose from. But the George Lopez part would have been an added bonus!

No way!!?!? That's rude if he did that! The entitlement complex of some celebirties!! mad They should have told him NO if he pulled that crap. But I think he gave the family like $20,000 after Prince died....just to kind of keep their personal finances afloat...so he probably feels like he can do whatever now?
