Reports on recording live vocals in Studio B

"SPECIAL BONUS FOR VIP TOURS ON THURSDAYS STARTING DEC 1: VIP tour ticket holders will have the unprecedented opportunity to record live vocals over a short segment of a Prince song in the legendary Studio B control room – the same studio where Prince recorded countless hits, including songs from Sign O’ The Times, Graffiti Bridge and Emancipation. VIP tour ticket holders who record in Studio B will be able to take the live mix home with them on USB. This is included as part of the VIP tour ticket."

Has any1 here done this? Do you get to choose which song to record on? What's it like? Thanks.

I am slightly disappointed about not so many recent reviews on PP, definitely contrast from when many would post their reviews here on gigs and PP events sad

Anyways, here is a review from someone who did record their vocals in studio B:

My wife and I toured on Thursday night. We were brought into studio B and given the choice of recording the chorus of Raspberry Beret, Cream or U got the look. Your voice is layered with the original recording. It's a pretty neat little keepsake. If you don't sing into the mic and loudly enough, you won't be heard well as the levels aren't mixed.

Thanks 4 the report, PPResident cool Sounds like fun! I like the song choices -- I suppose having more choices would slow down the tour with people trying to decide which song they want smile Its a really cool personalized keepsake idea. biggrin

It is. And to think that you're doing this in the same studio where Sign o the Times was recorded. Very cool. I've read some threads where people think these opportunities are a bit disrespectful, but i found the tour really refreshing and cathartic. We even played ping pong on his table. Seems weird and maybe even silly, but it helped me process the loss. We were having fun at Paisley. It's kind of what I imagine he would want.
