PPAD Jan 28 Concert Screening: Lovesexy Dortmund '88

I know this will get moved but want to put it where most people will see it before it's moved. I wonder if they'll ever start announcing these earlier in the week 0r if 1-2 days notice is all we'll ever get?

Since the mods decided to condem any discussion on Paisley Park to the obscurity of the Fan Gatherings forums, we don't really get to discuss any news related to it. Are these events attracting a decent amount of people? And what about the museum itself?

Yeah it doesn't take the mods long to move these. lol I haven't been yet but from what I've heard they get decent attendance. I do wonder though if stuff like this would be happening if Prince were still here. Would he screen a concert that had music in it he no longer performed (because of language or too risquΓ© etc,)? There was a story from one of his Aussie P&M after shows. The DJ said he was given specific instructions not to play any music with profanity and he said when he started playing the track Head one of Prince's minders immediately came over and told him Prince wanted him to turn it off.

I've been to all the shows and there are usually around 100 people, give or take 20. Supposedly Prince wanted concerts to be shown. I think it's a great idea. The screen is massive and of course the sound is great. I have read where people have posted online that they don't agree with them playing songs like Sexy MF, Darling Nikki, etc. I would be gutted if they edited that stuff. Lovesexy is one of my favorite tours and I know most people have already seen it, but I can't wait to see it there.

Well if they're going to show these concerts I agree that they shouldn't be edited as that would just be weird. But it is interesting to think about how Prince would have handled it. The way he handled it when alive was not playing this stuff live or at events with DJ's and I don't think he showed live concerts at PP. Maybe this is one reason he told The View in 2013 that someone else would be releasing the stuff in the vault. Then he wouldn't have to deal with what to do with stuff that contained profanity or was really explicit in nature.

I gotta say though I hope they don't release stuff with profanity unless it's something so amazing or there's a way to scrub the profanity out without it being obvious it was scrubbed. I gotta believe there's plenty of stuff in the vault that doesn't contain profanity.

I have no issues with them releasing material with profanity/sexual content. I grew up on dirty Prince and I'm quite fond of him. lol Doing anything to change what he recorded would be like changing the colors on a famous painting. I think if he cared enough about the old stuff in the vault with profanity/sexual content getting out one day, then he would have done something about it. I'm sure there is a lot of material post profanity/sexual in there too.

I don't think he would ever have gotten rid of it. Doesn't mean he would have released it. I think they should prioritize that which won't require a parental advisory sticker. Of course I'm talking more about profanity and things that leave little to the imagination. LRC is one of my favorite Prince songs. It's dirty but it's not Head dirty. wink
