Moving Opening Speech at Paisley Park

I am not sure where to post this or if it has been posted elsewhere. A moving opening speech delivered by Managing partner Joel Weinshanker at Paisley Park this morning. Apparently Kirk Johnson oversaw the management of the whole building and they kept the same people who worked with Prince to organise everything on site.

Why? Who the fuck goes there anyway? We are missing things unless you spend your life going through all the forums you wouldn't normally need to

shrug Not my call. When something big happens and you hardly see any activity about it here, odds are there's a lot of activity going on about it in another forum.

True - I have never visited that section since being a member on here since 2002. So weird.

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

I know alot of people are looking forward to going to the tour, but, I really don't think I could visit PP. It would be a stark and sad reminder of losing an artist who was profoundly creative, and who's likeness I know for a fact I will never see again. It feels like the world has literally lost something that it will never again see. And I can feel it. I can't even explain this, but it feels like soemthing from this world is gone, and it's even more extreme when I try to listen to his music. I'm not a religious person, but growing up with Prince, seeing everything he has done, and learning about things we didn't know, I have wondered if his talents were indeed a gift from God. Was he here for the purpose of sending some kind of message? I don't know. But I do know that he made me question this reality through his music and art. Seeing everything in there would simply be a reminder that this unique and staggeringly creative force is gone. Forever. The halls of PP will no longer be blessed with the sound waves that only Prince could create.

Profoundly sad watching and reading about the tour. Not because it is happening, but because it reminds me about all of the aforementioned things.

Thanks. That guy is clearly coming from a place of love and respect for Prince. I was comforted by his words.

Beautiful words indeed.
I went to PP today and took the tour. I too am a long time fan and thought I was going to lose it there. But instead I felt a peacefulness in my heart. It was like what happens at a funeral. It's sad but then you see other people who loved that person. You share stories and memories then it starts making sense, you're not there to mourn a death. You're there to celebrate a wonderful person and his life.
Then you see all that he has left you to enjoy and learn something from. It's his final gift to us.

The mayor was there greeting fans too (not sure if any city council members were there). It seems yesterday went off pretty smoothly from a traffic and pedestrian standpoint). I wouldn't be surprised if a few more days are approved for tours.
