Thank you. Okay. This adds credence to her story. I wonder if Prince told Jerome point blank that LRC was about Mi-Ling or if his shout-out is based on recent stories and interviews. Also, I wonder if LRC might have been inspired by her and Vanity, as she suggested in Michael Dean's interview...since he did release the song around the time that he met Denise, 2-3 years after Poole left the Minneapolis scene.

T.C. Elllis told her and Jerome was able to get her into Paisley Park back in 2004.

I love Michaels interviews but i thought she did a better interview with this guy , she was less nervous and more relaxed.

Mi-Ling Stone Poole

I agree. I think this was a much better interview. Michael Dean's interview, IMHO, was not a good one for her. Very importantly, to me, there was no mention of abuse in this one...or about older, "grown ass men" preying on her. That focus in Michael's podcast, which was about her and Prince, sort of suggests that her interaction with Prince somehow fit that category. I find that troublesome. And, I know that abuse might be a part of her story, and perhaps that's her way of explaining why she was "fast," but it would be great if she were to draw a clear line between her personal story, separate from Prince, and the story of her and Prince. Do you know what I mean?

I like that the first interview made it clear that they were just two young kids hanging out. She did, however, once again make that comment about him "waiting until you were legal," I guess as an explanation for why nothing happened between them after their first meeting in 1976. I wonder why she feels the necessity to throw that into these discussions.

Lastly, there is no mention of her looks in this interview. I think that makes her much more likable (and credible), as opposed to all the stories about her "assets" and how fine she was in Michael Dean's interview. In my estimation, that is a given since Prince supposedly wrote LRC about her. To borrow the LRC equestrian metaphor, going on and on about it is beating a dead horse.

Because prince was notorious for meeting girls who were 16/17 and waiting until they were legal that's what she meant.

I'm aware of this history, but I don't see it as germane to her young Prince story. It seems they barely made eye contact when she was 16.

Okay we get it. Prince had no life in Minneapolis. He sprung from thin air and never dated anyone from his hometown. What are you going to say if she produces pictures of the two of them?

Other people in their circle at the time have come forwsrd and confirmed LRC and Sexy Dancer were indeed inspired by her. I can't remember anymore where i read that, but i live in MN so it was probably in a Mpls publication.
It was probably a year ago already since reading about this and i've read so much in the last year and a half its impossible to remember exact details. I THINK the sudden, tragic death of her brother is what drove her from town suddenly and w/o explanation? She was a good dancer and her sister and friends would coax her to enter local dance contests and give them the prize money. She was hurt about some of the lyrics so she didn't want it known to be about her for years. She was a wife, mother and professional with an image to maintain. There is at least one pic of her and Prince together. She was cute and curvy and petite like him. She was also smart, popular and outgoing which was intimidating to him at times. (And possibly why she comes across to some folks as arrogant?) She makes it clear that they shared some fun, memorable times together in their young years and they were fond of each other but it was never mad love. She always had ambitions for college and a career.
It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

The same way T.C. Ellis said Prince told him LRC was about Miling, was the same way Robin Power said Prince told her it was about Vanity. Robin Power said it right here on Prince.org in a question and answer thread. We were all witnesses to it. I have it saved. I don't think either T.C. Ellis or Robin Power is lying, but the clues point more soundly in Vanity's direction than Milling's that LRC was about Vanity. The song, shown in the picture down below was even gifted to Vanity by Prince when first recorded, (Prince has been known to gift certain women songs when they inspired it, i.e. just like he gifted Vanity Wonderful A$$ in the same way. Prince even made reference to Vanity's behind in LRC to coincide with what he said in Wonderful A$$. Vanity called the song by name saying that it was about her past life in one of her Christian interviews when she was giving her testimony. As soon as I find it, I'll post it. Although only a dedication, it's significant that along with all the connections I mentioned that Vanity had to the song, Prince would dedicate the song to her as a tribute more than once throughout the Piano and Microphone tour. The first night, "Someone dare to us has passed away, I'd like to dedicate this song to her." And here is a brief report from Rocksubculture on another night of his emotional tribute of LRC dedicated to Denise.

"Probably my all-time favorite Prince song is “Little Red Corvette”, which boldly came next, to ear-shattering screams. This was his most emotional point in the entire show, both celebratory and sad, filled with humor and then raw pain. As the keys got softer, “there was this one girl in particular…” then faster as he twisted it into “Dirty Mind”, then slowed it back down to “Little Red Corvette”, speeding it up and slowing it down, shifting from serious to playful to serious… then somber, eventually just lightly touching the keys and softly singing “girl, your moving too fast, too fast now, too fast… just recently, we lost a dear sister that was moving too fast – too fast, too fast, too fast…” bridging to a flutter of keys that sounded like angel wings… “I may be a bit to wrong, I might be a bit too blue, baby you know what I want. I want you. Ohhh… You can be with those others if you want to… that’s cool….” He gave a shout out to Oakland and then closed it with “slow down, yeah… you got to… Ohhh… Slow down… oh yeah…”

It saddens me that Mingling said Prince told his friends and associates not to speak to her. It was because he felt she was trying to prey on him. Now that he's dead, she has the access. It also saddens me that she says she interviewed Vanity, but now that Denise is dead it cannot be proven if what she says about her is true or not. She can make up whatever she wants and no one will be the wiser. That really bothers me. And if it's true that she really interviewed Vanity, what in the world does Vanity not knowing what a jockey means has to do with if the song is about her or not? Vanity didn't write the song, Prince did. She doesn't have to know what a jockey is for the song to be about her. That was a ridiculous comment. And Prince saying "The Jockeys that were there before me" WAS A METAPHOR for all the men that he thought the woman was intimate/riding before him! Hence the real reference of the word "Jockey" in the song was making reference to the real jockeys that ride horses for a living - Not the boxers/Jocks that were on her wall.

I've never read anyone else coming forward saying this song was about Milling apart from what she said T.C Ellis told her. If anyone can post a link about someone else notable saying Prince told them the song was about Mingling, I'd appreciate it. Not just the rumor about TC Ellis saying it. Not hearsay or just a shout out from Jerome Benton. I do believe she had a fling with Prince and of course she would know some of his associates from Minneapolis so Jerome just shouting her out doesn't prove that LRC was about her.

As a journalist it would not surprise me if she recorded the interview with Vanity. Also Prince plays LRC in the concert as a dedication his does not say the song was written for Vanity. The cover sheet was drawn by Vanity it does not mean the song was about her and I am sure T.C is just repeating what he was told by Prince who maybe was inspired by both women.

The dedication I mentioned was just an aside connection to my major points that just as TC said it was about Mingling - Robin Power said Prince told her it was about Vanity as well. And to add substance to what Robin Power said, Prince gifted The song to Vanity the same way he gifted her Wonderful A$$ - the point is moot as to who drew the cover art. Anyway, not looking to have a drawn out battle on this. I just needed to add my two cents.
