He ran. He ran as fast as he could and as far away as he could.

Still he could never get away.

Until now.

This experience has begun.

"Hello Mr. otto,

I am writing you expressing my interest in your film and video internship at The Walker Arts Center.
I recently had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Fionn Mead and after talking with him about the film and video internship at The Walker he forwarded your email address to me, instructing me to get in contact with you.

I am a recent alumni from the Art Institute, International here in Minneapolis and after graduation I found myself working on the set of 2 feature films, The Jingle Dress, as well as, The Public Domain. I also have been working freelance with several artist here in the music community doing video work, taping mostly concerts and doing promotional pieces for the artist. Some of those artist include Larry Long, Robert Robertson, Black Diet, Bobby Z. and Paul Peterson, just to name a few. I have been fortunate to have worked with some Musical Royalty here in Minneapolis.

Along with working with some very well established clients I have also manage to receive some accolades as well. While in school I was honor to receive The Student Production Award from the National Academy of Television and Science, for a short documentary I co-produced, edited and directed "Art Saves Lives." I have also had the pleasure of having a film screened at The Guthrie for 3 days as part of the Drop the Mic! The Light Within program. I have also had the pleasure of having a short documentary on River Falls, WI tribute to the 50th Anniversary of the Peace Corps., archived at The Smithsonian in Washington D.C. Along with these few accomplishments I have also had several of my images published in various publication, including The Star Tribune, International Falls Daily Journal and City Pages.

The reason I am interested in your film and video internship is that I spent the majority of my life in New York City's lower east side. Where I was know for my performance art, acting and music recordings. It was during this time that I became a member of the underground art scene. It was probably the most exciting time of my life thus far, looking back. Like all of my friends and peers, I lived, breathe, ate and was a dweller within my art. I was an artist by its true definition. I feel that in a way while attending The Art Institute Internationals I traded some of that drive, intuition, that raw natural instinct and deliverance for a more formal training of my craft. I also feel though The Art Institute Internationals was a great learning environment and a great community, it didn't satisfy my taste for the true passion of art. I need to get back to where I was as an artist. I need to continue to be in an environment where I am challenged as an artist. I want to explore how art is curated and taken to the next level of exhibition. How and why is it chosen to be on display within a fine institution such as The Walker Art Center. The Art Institute International to me, was all about what we can do on a commercial level, their goal was to prepare us for the corporate world. Which is great and I feel that I am well prepared for the corporate world, but for me it's always been about the artistic expression of one's self and how that can influences not only one self, but also society and the self within it. I want to continue my exploration of how art changes cultures. I feel that The Walker Art Center can be both worlds in which I can continue to thrive. Yes both the corporate world as well as a world where ART still matters most.

It was in September of 2009 while in New York City, I had a change of direction. After completing my last Album I wanted to do something that was unlike anything I have done or anyone I have ever known had done. I wanted to challenge myself in every possible way that I could. That want and need lead me on the journey of a lifetime. I walked from Ludlow and Stanton in the lower east side of New York City to California. It was a journey that took 3 months, 2 weeks, 4 days and 12 hours to complete and it was during that process I changed in every possible way. Still an artist, but now expressing myself on a whole new level of experience. That experience changed me almost to an unrecognizable new self. It gave me a clarity and understanding of myself and the world, I had never known before.

That change lead me to continue my evolution as an artist by attending The Art Institute here in Minneapolis and receiving a Bachelors of Science in Digital Video Film Production program. Which I have to admit was sometimes much harder than walking over 3,000 miles, but the destination was the same. To complete something I had started, challenge myself in a way I had never done before which in turned would help me evolve and progress as an artist.

Sir I could write you a novel on why I would like to intern with you and Mr. Mead but I am sure you don't have enough time to read it in one sitting. So I ask of you kindly to please take a look at my online portfolio including some of my work while here in Minneapolis.

You can see it here: [web address deleted for security]

Also Mr. Otto I am sure you are a very busy man but if you could find 5 or 10 minutes to meet with me so we could discuss the possibilities of my internship with you, that would mean the world to me and I would be most appreciative. I can be reached at [phone number deleted for security] by phone, or my personal email address[email address deleted for security]. Also if you would like to correspond via mail my address is:

[deleted for security]

I believe that in order to get what you want out of life you have to make the steps towards it. This is my one small step towards being apart of The Walker Art Centers influence not only Minneapolis but also the influence it has on the world.

With great respect."

To be continued....

We all have issues. This is my current one.

"I fall in love with the images. Each one has a story, and if you look in their eyes long enough, you can see the story unfold. The affair that Sebastian, Leopode and I are having is insane, like netflix in my brain. The color one are like modern art films and the black & white ones are old classics. They all are beautiful."

ART LIFE: Behind the scenes

One of the things I like about being on set photographer is I get to be the invisible eye of the whole production. I get the point of view in it's entirety.

ART LIFE

One of my favorite challenges is to photograph bands. Getting that one shot where every thing is perfect. Right exposure, shutter speed, ISO, and energy givin from the performers can be better than sex smile. Scandal.

It's always a great honor to be able to photograph another artist during their creation of art.

Here are just some images I have had the pleasure of capturing.

So today I wanted to step outside myself and do an interpretation of Chuck Close's Self Portrait.

Here it is.

[img:$uid]http://i113.pho.../img:$uid]

I am not trying to make facsimiles of photographs. Neither am I interested in the icon of the head as a total image. I don’t want the viewer to see the whole head at once and assume that that’s the most important aspect of my painting. I am not making Pop personality posters like the ones they sell in the Village. That’s why I choose to do portraits of my friends–individuals that most people will not recognize. I don’t want the viewer to recognize the head of Castro and think he has understood my work.–Chuck Close, 1970

Art Life:

sometimes i just need to let the words flow.

i need to let go of the seeds with burning roots,

deep into my soul, i give them unto you,

to sow.

words, these words that are not even my own,

but collectively, they mange to find themselves

in harmoney, bouncing around ini my cranel cell.

Block them I shall not, the pressure cooker gets hot

so as not to explode,

steeeeeeeeeeam.

i am not a man without meaning

understanding is keen

if we can communicate

then love will be,

once again King.

Love live the king

Wally keeps me in his penthouse apartment over looking the city.

It's actually quite beautiful. I feel privleged. I have just enough food and

entertainment to keep me occupied.

Atually it's quite lonely. I wonder about, casually. I Pass the time contemplating.

I reflect alot. I had a thought and I wanted to meditate on.

that thought was, "i am the evolution of experiences since birth."

that was a scary thought because i realized that with each experience there was another involved

some times many. So i saw myself as the evolution of many.

which now has me to wonder, who are they? The others? Morre so who am I in relation to evolution of experiences? If i say my name , is the name of my belonging? What wait.

ART LIFE

when i ran away Jan. 6, 1994 I abdicated everything. For life. It's strange when I think about it I may have misunderstood what "for life" actually ment at the time. I was nolonger my fathers heir.

The evollution of experiences, for life.

Imagine if your father owned EVERYTHING.

I ask you how hard would it be to turn your back, on the light?

Heir to the thrown.

would you rather be in the light or

would you prefer being the light?

that is the judgement.

fast forward: ART LIFE
