The New Funk Order- who wants to help me start it? I know that Cloud 9 (Lewis Partridge) is down with this idea. I am wanting to form a new music order among musicians who share a message of revolution, love, and peace, change, and correction. I was hoping that we could all get together and jam on a huge CD that would be similar to a P-Funk All Star type thang, where we had like 50 mo-fo's on one track or something like that. I mean a jam album with hard dance and funk tracks- not necessarily with a defined message, just some "get off your ass and jam" type thangs. The more that people learn to dance to the right music in these times, the better they are- you know what I'm saying?

Jimmy, I have an issue with this idea as well. I am on half analog equipment, and I don't have a computer based mixing program. So, the best I could do is play along with a CD recording and then run it through my tascam, then re-record onto a new CD track. Money does not permit me to buy more equipment. But, I could at least do what I mentioned...more work for me, but it would be well worth it.

I think a good solution would be:

Altho, I spose my message might be far from y'alls... but that wouldn't come through in guitar playing, would it.

I was talking to manki about collaborating. I was trying to figure out a way to do it since he's in Sweden and I'm in the US.

I have a suggestion. Ive been thinking of a way for us all to collaborate over such vast distances but as we all use different software & some of us dont use software at all, I think its gonna be very difficult, maybe even impossible to get this idea off the ground.

This is a really exciting idea! I really would like to contribute. Maybe if I try to get a band together with the same ideas of the messages that you mentioned, I could knock something up that way.

My suggestion is as follows. A compilation CD called 'The New Funk Order' consisting of one track from each artist or band. Obviously as many real collaborations as possible would be great but for those who have difficulty doing this, allow them to submit one of their songs. If we can put them on CD's it wouldnt b that hard guess...but anything Is cooler than nothing at allThats what I was thinking. A collaboration album dont necessarily mean us all playing together on a track & it would be nice to make it easier for those who dont have the equipment to participate to have the option of just sending us a tune they've recorded for inclusion in the project But colaborations sound wicked, my site & I are in

I am very happy to see the support of this idea. I knew that Lewis really endorsed it, but I really appreciate the interest from all of you. So far, I have seen the following persons from this post that are interested in this mission-

JimmyNothing otan zum cloud9mission xpsiter simonttx paisleypark4 vinablue therapy Now, we need to org note or e-mail each other with real names and addresses for shipping so that we can start on this. Also, we should know whether you have digital or analog equipment, and if you have access to upload your finished mp3 to the computer. Me and Isaiah both have analog epuip, so it would be easy for us to collaborate on a track- he could send me a CD with his stuff, then I could re-record onto CDR with my added track. It would pick up some noise in the process, but it would be big fun. If we could all record at least one analog type track (regardless of the sound quality) I believe it would be good for us. And for the digi peeps, they can record one also, (just one digi and one analog song for the collaboration- the rest can be individual songs from each person). If you know anyone else who might be interested from the org, let them know and then let me know. I offer my site to either download or sell the finished CD, which ever we decide on. Its beyond me as to why my site gets as much attention as it does & I wanna share that wit ya'll & dis project. Plus I have a load of host space I aint using Lewis

Ok im guessing, peeps with digital could devote a track, people with analog can insert samples in the jam track, is that right? Am I getting it right? Or is it like this...one sample of something in the "jam" song and one individual song? Is this right? Okay. Check it out. I put together some loops to start with. Everybody's interested, but nobody's taking the first step. They're all WAV files.

Check out the loops, and tell me if they'll do. They're at 94 or 95 bpms - I forget which now. I went with total classic funk - the Linn Drum samples. Couldn't help it. http://www.blindslim.com/...loops.html [This message was edited Tue Jan 28 16:25:54 PST 2003 by otan] Souds cool man! I have some synth elements already, i cant load them 2 a site quickly, so I emailed JDODSON 4 his adress so i can send the very very short CD 2 him.
