Winter Music - ringtone roulette Hi there --
My cell phone performance piece has officially been programmed to take place at a ATA gallery in San Francisco on May 6. I've named it Winter Music: Ringtone Roulette, inspired by a thread in the Music:Non-Prince forum. There's going to be an accompanying video, with audience members dialing each other's cell phones during the video to form a cacaphonic sound score of ringtones. The entire program is about Strange Music with some guy performing on a theremin and other crazy things happening. I'll post more about it later, but it sounds like a fantastic and fun opportunity. I'll also be playing some punk violin in the show. NOW I HAVE THIS IDEA OF APPROACHING CELL PHONE STORES AND ASKING FOR SPONSORSHIPS since I need some cash to make the video. What do you all think? I'm not used to asking for money, but I've given up increasing my debt for projects so I've got to do something. Also it might be kind of funny talking to corporate entities about the avant-garde.

I asked for assistance on a yahoo group I belong to, and got two grant leads and one woman wants to offer her technical expertise, video camera, and silicon valley financing connections!!! May be too good to be true, but at least people seem to be jazzed by the idea.
