Ive have 3 different sound cards (all 'recommended' by stienberg), Ive tried 5 different version of cubase (some cracks, some paid for), Ive tried 3 different opperating systems and Ive even changed the motherboard on here twice since my problems started.

I can't help much with Cubase cuz I don't use it too often. You can try to run the diagnosis thing they have. Maybe it's a case of a wrong buffer size, dunno. It's hard to tell...to little details.
I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the dirt.

Start saving your money and get a Mac...I switched over a few years back...and I'll never own a PC again...nothing but headaches and I don't want to spend precious time being a tech head when all I want to do is plug in and play before the inspiration is gone. "Study and show yourself approved"

MACs have come down incredibly in price over the last couple of years as well. Still, the extra few bucks you put into one pays for itself over time. More options, specs, etc ...

I hate to say it but Apple will probably go the road-map of Microsoft in the future. The higher they get in market share and all, they will probably compromise a lot of their architectural integrity. In fact, by 2007 they will have intel chips. Who knows. They seem really confident. The transition of software will be a nightmare, no doubt even though steve jobs swore up and down he had a fix for that. Just so you know some of us MAC users are a little worried with this next phase.

Cheap motherborads can often cause these errors as they are not always compatible with low-latency soundcards. So does defect RAM. I used to have myself an old PCI videocard (not AGP) that was causing the audio to stutter, because it was too slow for the rest of the system. From your description my first guess is that you just might haven't performed the syncing operation that the Cubase VST-brethren programs require you to do before using the software. There should simply be just an .exe-file with some options depending on your soundcard. The actual name of the file eludes me now, but it should reside in the same directory as the other .exe files. Im reaching the end of how much time, patience and money I have to spend on this thing. I realise the best option is to get a
Then you're going down the wrong route. I've worked with a bona-fide G5 system at work and it performs just as bad, or worse, as any PC I had prior to the perfectly operating Windows XP recording system that I have now. Macs aren't any more reliable than PCs are these days, definitely less powerful, but it's your choice. If you think it's Microsoft's fault that your MIDI is out of sync with audio then you're just fooling yourself. And other thing: cracks will screw up your system no matter what, these are very complex pieces of software, but that's the price you will have to pay if you want to use cracks. At least it usually takes more time to sort everything out, I know we all cannot afford everything. Just wondering if anyone could suggest a fix or a different PC software? All I need it to be able to programe midi and record audio over the top of it.
Any software should work, they work for others so they should work for you. I know how frustrating it can be sometimes be.

I have one of these.
It's in the corner of my room, collecting dust. I still have all my college assignments and ideas from that time period on it.

You know, you could probably make a bundle off that thing on ebay. There are die-hard MAC collectors out there believe it or not. I'd be curious as to what you would get for it. I paid $30 bucks for it at a thrift store!
