If the NPG Music Club Returned...

Would you pay for a Brand New Membership?

Or perhaps he'll make it "FREE" and we'll just have to pay for the New Music (Album/Downloads).

^

depends, I would never pay $77 like some did in 2009.

More likely $7 for a new album download.

But the truth about Prince and "his sites" stinks.

I tried to buy Crystal Ball from Love4Oneanother.com, 1-800-New-Funk.com or whatever the site was callen back in '98. (I don't really remember now).

I did not succeed with CB, I did never receive my order, I had to buy the album in the local store, a very loooong time after it was planned to be released.

I'll definitely pay 2 join & I agree with rdhull it needs 2 be a paid subscription to keep all the haters out.

I think if he created a new website it will be okay 2 pay because he's older & wiser now so surely he would have learned from previous mishaps & won't let it happen again?

No, subscription is a bad idea. It lies at the core of most of the issues with the NPGMC, because it raises "xpectations" and then the costumors feel ripped off, rightfully or not.

Just an easy to use, online record store, nothing too fancy, but chock full of Prince records and videos, in proper quality and at a fair price, easy to pay and download.

That's it basically.

The logo is only in the video because it was filmed at Paisley in the NPG Music Club room and he's too cheap (or sentimental?) to change the carpet.

I think the one where you could pay $25 for a lifetime membership (or was it yearly?) was OK, I was happy with that - esp the entry to soundchecks and aftershow. But I couldn't afford $77 for the next time.

I agree that it raises expectations and it MUST deliver nod

Folks don't understand the value of his websites.

Remember L41A.com? For just around 77 bucks (or so), he got a lifetime membership to receive all sorts of free music and videos.

Then Prince generously allowed us to receive even more free music and videos through another lifetime membership at NPGMC for 100 dollars. That's $177 dollars for two back-to-back wonderful lifetime memberships of all sorts of free stuff.

If that wasn't enough, in an effort to spoil the crap out of us, for just another $77, we were offered an additoinal year on our lifetime memberships via Lotusflow3r for 3 albums from lotusflow3r, a live jazz album, several vault albums, and amazing concert footage from every concert he ever had.

So for less than $300 dollars, our lifetime memberships gave us the opportunity to listen to thousands of songs, and afforded us the opportunity through their L41A experiments to unburden ourselves of our entire collection of bootlegs by mailing it to them, and all we had to do was encur the cost of the original purchases, shipping and handling.

Shit, people, we're being given another lifetime opportunity for a lifetime membership for a hundred bucks? You only live four times....go for it!

Yeah man he stinks. Nowadays he's making songs about his peadophile sex affair on talentless protegees and packaging it as real music by real musicians while laughin his ass off about the stupidity of people that are echoing his lame ass promotional verbal slang, that he himself no longer believes in.

He did the same sort of thing before but times have changed. He does not make good music/lyrics anymore even not on sex that he used to, so that his current peadopholistic sex affair song is now more appaling that it'd be back in the days. Most his fans are not teenagers, and there are so much music to choose from in 2012 that he can't fake up the funk, and tell people it's the real funk by real musicians, when he knows this is bullocks. Bringing on stage Maceo who used to be with JB, and faking up the funk with Andy Wannabe is the biggest insult that Prince could ever done to the genre itself. No respect!

Give me a break.

Prince I will always miss and love U.

Well what most people fail to realize is that by LIFETIME membership it refers to the LIFETIME of the website, not YOUR personal Lifetime. Just like if you win a life time supply of something, it's for the lifetime of the product.

subscription...NO.

Free website and just make us pay for the downloads. Prince would make more money this way IF he actually kept it updated with new material. The fans would be satisfied too because they will get what they pay for

People sure do remember things differently than me confused

Now, like most I was disappointed when the 2003 (forums etc) incarnation of the NPGMC site was closed and of course I would have been even more disappointed if I had only just paid my membership fee, AND of course I felt the lotusflower website and T-shirt/album download did not really offer great value for money. But I thought the facts were these...

Love4oneanother.com/npgonlineltd.com (1998/99/2000) - free (no membership)

NPGMC (first incarnation, 2001ish) - monthly memberships (werent they around $7.77 for the Ahdio shows) and annual membership ($100 which gave you ahdio shows AND extra mp3 tracks each month?)

NPGMC (second incarnation 2002ish) $100 annual membership for CDs.

NPGMC (third incarnation 2003ish) $25 "lifetime" membership.

3121.com - free (no membership)

lotusflow3r.com - $77 "lifetime" membership

cool

I would be happy if he were to launch a site that offered tracks/whatever for download. The only way he would get my money though is if he offered high quality downloads of older material. I wouldn't be interested in track after track of plastic psuedo funk that were recorded last week with Andy Allo, in crap bitrate Mp3's.

Sounds about right.

L4OA wasn't a club.

2001 - Worked best of all the years

2002 - Failed to deliver on half the promised CD's and ended up with some legal action

2003 - Took a lifetime membership fee then shut up shop.

3121 wasn't a club

Lotusflower - Took the money and ran.

Of course, theis is all on the back of the Crystal Ball fiasco.

So would I sign up again? No way. I fell for it every time apart from Lotusflower, where I thought I would sit back and watch before joining. Within weeks it was obvious that Prince was shafting the fans again.

I would like to see an official forum back though. When the last one was up all fams ran away from the org and it became a far less venomous and negative place. The ones who think they are positive really don't understand they are often the most blinkered and confrontational.

I used to like popping into the official forums just to see how far ass kissing could go.

It was a shame it closed. Within hours the fams turned up here, telling everyone how they should behave as fans and starting endless idolisation threads.
